i am currently losing about half a pound a day, low carbing. that seems excessive to me. i want to b e able to keep it off. ie ensure itis fat that is going, not water. ive been low carbing for a month now, so its not the inital water loss either.
any suggestions? or should i just be really excstatic?

also make sure you do some weight bearing exercise to ensure you don't lose muscle

well done btw

You will lose quite a lot and quickly low carbing! I agree with ggirl, make sure you are doing some toning work and eat plenty of veg and take a good multi vitamin supplement too.

Im a life long low carber and unfortunately, as soon as I go through a 'sod it' back on the carbs for a bit phase (usually wine) - some weight does go back on. But at least you know that once you drop the carbs its all coming back off again pronto. This is how celebs like britney appear to have a 'tummy' one week and none the week after. Shes probably been at the pizza for a week and then dropped the carbs the week after.

I'm on a low carb body building diet for 12 weeks ( 3 weeks in) and have lost one stone and a half. I pump a lot of weights though because I tend to get a baggy tum (even with abz) and my boobs get a bit dubious! Sorry I'm waffling! Best of Luck!

i am eating veg. but am thinking about adding fruit as well, even though it is so high in carbs. but still very very far from my target weight, so not sure

How many carbs per day are you eating?

It's very common when low carbing, by the way, for the weight loss to slow and or stop (sometimes weight might even go back on) in weeks 4 or 5, so you may find that the dramatic weight loss is soon to stop.

If you're eating a sensible amount of carbs, and you're getting these from veg and salad, and you have a lot to lose, I'd just stick with what you're doing for the moment, and enjoy it!

(another long term low carber here)

the scales this morning said 9 3. (although i'm not sure about them anymore since the battery change, but thats another story) i'd like to get beack into my size ten clothes, which means about 8 7 as a target weight, so actually not that much to lose i suppose.
when at home i eat a lot of fish and chicekn, but when out, it is more veg and salad, because you cant buy the quantities of protein, and carbs can always be substitued for extra salad. i'm probly around the 20 to 25 g of carbs figure, though of course it varies from day to day.

yesterday was probly a lot higher, as i douldnt vace any more cooking, and therefore had a lot of nuts. and i do mean a lot.
