Has anyone ever asked for help from the doctor about weight gain?

A friend of mine is seeing the doctor as she has gained weight dramatically since starting the contraceptive pill. Stopped taking it now and although she is exercising and eating healthily, (not dieting) she cannot shift any.

She is seeing the doctor. Is there anything that can help her except extreme dieting?
