I am truly awful at dieting on my own and would like to lose about 2 stone to get back to pre pregancy weight. Would anyone like to join me? I am not going near cakes, crisps, chocolate and sweets as they are my downfall so I will have to go cold turkey!

leoemma don't want to put damper on your enthusiasm but when I saw a dietitian a few years ago she told me that cutting out completely the things you can't resist is the worst thing to do and that the best thing is to allow yourself a small-medium portion and that way when tempted with those things you won't pig out.She was right although through family issues I haven't had time to properly lose weight, since allowing myself these things I've stabilised my weight and since buying a wii fit and exercise bike am finally losing weight steadily and happily

i will join you.

my sis has very successfully lost a stone in 3 months thru slimming world, and is nearing my weight!!!

I can't be havinghtat, and i know, with her deternimation, which i aspire too, she is going to keep going.

I MUST do something, i have put on about 3lbs in the last 3 weeks.

I need to lose a stone to feel happy. Still a size 14 at that stone but i look fine, and curvy in all the right places.

i've just started on this diet again. i've used it twice already .

once when i was in my late teens and very overweight. lost 5 stones in about a year.

than after dc1 i lost 3 stone in 4 months shock

and now i've been doing it for 2 months and i'm not sure about weight as i dont weight myself, but i've gone from size 22 to 18.

i have my 3 meals. proper meals. e.g fruit or bowl of cereal fruit breakfast.

a sandwich for lunch. just a plain sandwich with ham salad or chicken salad. no mayo/butter/salad cream.

dinner. is just whatever you would have as before. nothing lean or cut back. and if you want a takeaway, or go out for dinner some nights then it's fine.

my rules are

no alcohol unless it's a special occasion.
no caffiene. either de-caf or the best is chamomile or fennel as these settle a hungry stomach and keep you from getting constipated.
no juices. still water or diluting juice if you hate water.
no snacks between your 3 meals.

you will be hungry. very very hungry for the first week. but you'll notice a difference by the end of that week.then you dont feel as ravenous.

if you fall off the wagon for one day. dont worry about it. just start again with your 3 meals the next day.

but remember. every snack you eat, your body has to burn off or store.

meals are good. snacks are bad.

and you must do some form of easy exercise. be that a brisk 30 min walk, or some sort of toning thing is good every day. i'm a fan of doing 100 stomach crunches while watching soaps. not full sit ups. just lift your shoulders off floor.

it's better than just watching tv.and you will honestly have finished them before the first advert in cornation street

remember, the

Hi ladies - can I join you? I'm still using the 'I've just had a baby' excuse and my son will be 2 in October!!! blush I really would like to lose 2 stone (maybe 3) and then try for another baby so the support would be fab.

clarebear24 Sun 24-Aug-08 21:10:48

Hi Could I join in to. I need to lose about 2 stone, had a baby 6mths ago getting fed up of still looking pregers smile. My Hubby wants to try for another next year so need to get fit. How are we going to do this. New to using this mumsnet thingblush

elmoandella Sun 24-Aug-08 21:22:34

where i am there's a gym class called power mums.

it's for mums and babies. the first half hour is cardio. running (while pushing prams), step, dance, bike,

and 2nd half is toning, sit ups, legs excercises, bingo wing exercises.

at the toning session we get the babies out to roll about on the mats.

is there anywhere else that does classes like this.

i'm west lothian.

Morning ladies. Right well I have just weighed myself sad blush
I know you're not meant to do it daily, but I think I might. Will let you know the progress tomorrow...

clarebear24 Mon 25-Aug-08 10:26:33

Well i weighed myself alsoblush over 11 stone!!! which is pretty bad when you are as short as I am. Not weighing every day though, did that before and just ended up binge eating when I did lose, I am going to weigh myself once every two weeks. That weigh should see good progress hmm. Going to meet mums in cafe tomorrow, that will be hard, they all have pannis and they smell so good envy. Must be stronghmm

piratecat Mon 25-Aug-08 11:21:00

wel i seem to have put on 2lbs since yesterday morning. HOW?????????????

god it gets me down. have struggled like this all my life.

Jbck Mon 25-Aug-08 11:36:11

Ladies I think I'm going to have to do join you in doing something, DD2 born 9 months ago & within about 4 months I was half a stone away from my target weight but it gradually stopped then started creeping back on. Over the school holidays I've binged like a demon & am now 1 & a half stones from my ideal.

If I can lose a stone I'd be fairly happy but my first target will be a half to kick myself into action.

I'm starting back to work soon so exercise will be harder as I'll struggle to find time with childcare/work balance. Stopping eating all (well most) of the rubbish is my best option.

Looking forward to us getting in trim smile

I weighed and am 10st 3lb. Am going to go on my mini trampoline every day for half an hour - feeling optimistic now there are lots of you joining me! smile

Jbck Mon 25-Aug-08 20:07:14

leoemma do the wee trampolines do any good? I've been trying to do skipping when I get the chance but I need to do it outside so the rubbish weather hasn't helped, nor my rubbish pelvic floor blush Need to remember to exercise those too.

leoemma Mon 25-Aug-08 20:12:41

According to some websites I have been on (and I believe everything I read!!) they burn 210 calories at jogging pace in 30 mins. Pelvic floor wise they arent great!! The tramploines are really big in america and you can buy lots of dvds for them. I have bad knees and back so its great no impact. I have lost weight on it before, I jog with handweights as well. So yes it does work!

Jbck Tue 26-Aug-08 13:39:16

if it's on the Internet it must be true smile I think if I got one I'd have to fight DD1 to get on it but I might think about it.

Just resisted some Tesco's finest choc cheesecake that's looking at me in the fridge. DH brought it in as a treat but doesn't consider the fact that if you buy a whole cheesecake someone has to eat it, usually me. Couple of slices would have done but that's false economy he says!

leoemma Tue 26-Aug-08 19:52:07

Had a good day cereal and banana for lunch, banana mid am, cereal and yogurt for lunch and then roast chicken for tea! Quite impressed with myself! My DH always has an assortment of chocolate around as he can eat what he wants and doesnt put on weight. Have got him to move it to a shelf I cant reach.

Jbck Tue 26-Aug-08 20:46:01

I'm in awe of you, I fell at the first hurdle. Had loads of running around to do this afternoon, came home at tea time, bucketing with rain, DD2 has the cold and is miserable, only drinking milk today, DD1 starving, DH coming in to shower & go back out almost straightaway and had no plans for tea sorted. Was passing the chippy on the way so went in blush. I didn't eat very much tho', probably guilt made me feel full.

I'd been pretty good till then and I'm not eating anything else now (normally snack in front of the tv). Off for a big glass of water.

leoemma Tue 26-Aug-08 21:15:47

Just regroup and start again tomorrow - there is still time for me to eat now as I usually eat loads in front of the tv. Am going to go and have a green tea and try to keep it down!

clarebear24 Tue 26-Aug-08 21:17:01

Not to worry there is always tomorrow. I had to sit in a cafe with all my friends eating pannis envy. Was strong tho, only had diet coke grin. Just know i wont be as good tomorrow when we go out for lunch, will strive to find a healthy optionhmm

LittlePushka Tue 26-Aug-08 21:29:44

Ok, Tarkalotta, are you me? I am exactly as you are and agree that I must shed a couple. I ran somewhere today (out of necessity rather than choice) and felt really heavy. Also have jelly belly and tyres that were never there before having two babies within 17mths.

So, deal has to be to stop scoffing any little bits son leaves over from his meals,- and cut the rubish.

Iwould love to exercise,...and suprisingly my pelvic floor heldout this afternoon...but time does not permit.

AHH,...anyone tried skipping as a form of exercise?

leoemma Wed 27-Aug-08 13:27:42

tried skipping and nearly ended up in a and e. Not quite as good at it as I was when I was 9! Doing ok - evil friend tried to feed me biscuits but I was strong (ish)!

clarebear24 Wed 27-Aug-08 17:21:36
