Hi JPM. I did Atkins when I first started dieting and lost over a stone easily. I had the same view as you, that it was only to kick-start things, and then moved on to food combining and now am going to a Rosemary Conley class to lose this final stone and a half (have lost 2st 8lbs to date). I actually enjoyed it! I ate loads of chicken and had masses of salad with mayo every day. Also lots of cheese - although you have to be careful not to have too much of it. The only things I really missed were fruit and milk for coffee/tea (which you are also not supposed to have). But it DEFINATELY works. I would recommend buying some linseeds though, as it can cause problems with being 'regular' . HTH. x

Thanks miam - Anyone else have some advice. I can't belive I can't have milk!! I love my cup of milky tea first thing in the morning and a warm milk before I go to bed at night !! I hope I'll be able to stick to this particular part, the thought of waking up to a glass of water of herbal tea is YUK!!

Going by similar previous threads, I don't think there are many on here who have tried Atkins JPM (either that, or they won't admit it ) so you may not get much response unfortunately. I just wondered if you would consider the Rosemary Conley diet - you can have milk!! and alcohol!! and pasta!! etc etc. The first two weeks are quite strict to get you off to a flying start - I lost 5lbs in my first week. It's a good healthy diet and one which you should have no problems sticking to. x

is it safe to do this one if you're TTC? what exactly are you allowed, cos I thought it was only fatty foods ie/ fry ups, and steak etc, but no carbs
