You and me both. I have 5 weeks left till I go away.

What shall we do?

Give up wine is the first thing and I'm steeling myself to try and go without at the weekend as well, although I know that will be hard.

How much do you need/want to lose?

am thinking less food and NO SOLID anything after, say, 7pm

I have lost 7lb in the last four weeks by:

Drinking spritzers rather than 'neat' wine and cutting down to twice a week.
Drinking lots of water (about 6 pints a day)
Cutting down on pasta and bread and eating lots of fish, vegetables and fruit.
Going for a walk every day, for between 10 minutes and an hour.
Running a mile, three times a week.
Cutting out diet coke completely, which has magically got rid of my sweet tooth.

I have a long way to go, but already my clothes are getting looser and I have bundles of energy.

Good luck - it really can be done!

Well I thought I wanted to lose about 5lbs (to get to a weight where I know I can fit into my summer stuff without a noticeable spare tyre) but according to the scales this morning, that amount is suddenly 9lbs.

I know that my food has been ok (I follow low carb) so it has to be down to the wine.

Sorry, that sounded a bit like I was boasting, "Ooh, look what I've done!" Didn't mean to come across that way

It's interesting about the Diet Coke, LLVL2. There are some in the LC world who believe that artificial sweeteners can cause the body to spike insulin in the same way it does with sugar. Some Low Carbers find that they can't drink any diet drinks or eat any foods that are artificially sweetened for this reason.

I'm wondering if this might apply to me as well - not with Diet Coke, although I have had a bottle of that this weekend - but to the Cadbury's Highlights chocolate that I have had this week. 3 bars over the course of the week.

Will have to knock that on the head as well and see what difference it makes.

Didn't sound like boasting at all! Good for you, by the way.

Thanks, BIWI. I was really surprised about the diet coke, I assumed I'd crave more sweet things as I wasn't having the sweetness of the coke. Actually though, sweet things, like biscuits and ice-cream (which I craved before) now taste quite sickly. And cutting down on my alcohol has had a remarkable effect on my overall feeling of well-being. Then again, I was drinking alot - usually at least three bottles of wine a week (and that's when I didn't go out!) so I was drinking way too much.

Oh I can beat you on the wine front.

Have decided that I'm going to be uber strict on the carbs today, and drink lots of plain water. I've got into the habit of drinking squash - no added sugar, but could be the same issue with the artificial sweeteners.

Have just had my breakfast. 2 hard boiled eggs and 2 cups of coffee.

Not sure what I'll do for lunch, but dinner this evening is a big salad - mixed leaves, roast peppers, tuna and mayo, salamis, green bean salad and tomato mozzarella and basil salad.

And no wine!!!

Can I join in? I'm massively lardy.

I love the Scarsdale diet, it's briliant, have you ever heard of it? You lose about 1lb a say and it stays off (until you get pregnant again and think, "hooray for eating!" like i did).

sorry for bad typing... the (lovely) reason i'm so fat is wriggling around on my lap!

I want to join!
I need to lose about 2 stone to be at my happy weight.
But I'm BFing so have to be sensible, can't do any of those madness diets, has to be a change of lfiestyle and cutting out crap.

Alcohol is definitely one of my bad points.
As is diet coke.
I'm drinking my last bit of coke now and am going to drink only water, lots of it.
Apparently drinking lots of water helps your metabolism.
Also whenever I feel I need to snack, will drink a pint of water before I eat it, as I know we often confuse thirst with hunger so drinking may take away the urge.
Should also start having proper breakfast but I don't like cereals, any ideas?

Right, I've just sorted my shopping order out for tomorrow, removed all sweet drinks, and added raisins and yoghurts for me to have for breakfast with wholemeal toast.

Sounds like we're getting sorted and feeling a bit more positive about things!

Well done on your progress so far, hayley2u - hope you reach your target soon!

Hurrah! Lots of us on board!

I have injured my back so annoyingly can't exercise as I usually do. Been to osteo today and he says at least 3 weeks till can even think about running

I have had so far today:

scone and jam
small veg sushi pack
tuna and sweetcorn sandwich

and am going to try and go to yoga tonight, so may just have a glass white wine afterwards in the pub

read something helpful today - think of hunger pangs as something positive, it is your body with an energy deficit so you are burning fat! had never thought of that before!!

Me me me me me me me me

Lost 2 stone 10lbs for a big "do" last July, managed to keep it off but recently the shit has been hitting the fan, youmight say and I have reverted to type and am being a glutenous pig and drinking the plonko....... Have put 1st and 10lbs back on in 3 months !!

Have signed up from tomorrow for a bit of coaching. I will have a woman who will help me with weight loss by designing me a fitness regime, a helathy eating plan, a bit of life coaching so I can help to feel a bit more positive about myself and all in all I should end up with a better me. Not justin 6 weeks but I can keep going.

It includes an hour with her every week and membership to the new local health and fitness club !!

Its £99 for 6 weeks which is not bad considering a new wardrobe for my lardy arse would cost a whole heap more !

Would like to join in though please as am so weak willed and need all the help I can get.

PS It's the other VS's fault I am here

I'm in too! If I can motivate myself to lose 2lbs a week for the next 5 weeks I'll be very happy. Would like to lose between 7lbs and a stone. Was at Slimming World but haven't been to class for last few weeks and feeling demotivated.

Will weigh in tomorrow morning and get started. Plan is to fill up on healthy foods and cut back on bread, biscuits etc (can't stop once I start). Eat three meals a day to prevent snacking. Will be running at least twice a week, hopefully three times and might start swimming again once a week if I can find the time. I have been trying to cut back on the vino too although I do love my wine[ol'lush emoticon].

Yep thats the one.I guess it may seem pricey as its about £37.50 for a weeks supply, but if you eat nothing else......I think I spend more for my share of the weekly shop.

It is -very- hard, but....it does work, gets you to your target much quicker.Try reading some threads on MN about it.
