So enough is enough, I always seem to find a reason to put off diets till tomorrow. So today is the start of a new focus (motivated by a holiday!).

Everyone who wants to make a change today then lets all join together now. What better date than the first of June?

Weigh in 01/06/08: 14 Stone, 3.6 pounds. 31.1% body fat

I'll join you! Also motivated by a holiday - ok its in a months time but if I could lose something by then it would really make a difference.

Weigh in: 10st 12lbs - don't know what body fat is.

I lost weight successfully with ww's before so am going to dig out all my old books.

I've started formally today as well (have had a few days of preparation over the last week to deal with very bad behaviour on a weekend away with DH).

Weigh in: 9st 13lbs. Don't know body fat. Probably just as well!

Target is 8st 11 lbs, so just over a stone to go, and I'm hoping to lose half a stone by the end of June, on the basis of 2lbs per week.

We go on holiday on 26 July so I would like to be a deal closer to my target by then!

How are we all doing it? My diet 'of choice' is low carbing, which I follow pretty much all the time, just haven't been strict enough. And I'm giving up alcohol during the week as well.

I'll join you too (although will actually start tomorrow as need to shop once children back at school)

Have had a fab weeks jolly with dh (minus lo's) to Chicago last week with fantastic restaraunts resulting in a few extra punds. Would like to loose at least 1 stone (1.8 preferably) by mid August for our holiday to the Vendee (purchased a lovely bikini in Chicago as motivation).

Weigh in: 10st 8lbs no idea about % fat though.

My scales have the 'helpful' feature of a body fat measure on them- don't think I will be taking too much notice of it though as those number don't mean alot to me!

Sophierose, a month is a great time period to make a change for your holiday. What ww plan are you following?

BecauseImWorthIt, not sure what my diet 'of choice' will be. Have dabbled in the past with different plans but this time I think I am just going to try and go with the common sense plan! Like you, I am going to try and give up alcohol during the week and keep it to a minimum at weekends too.

ComeOVeneer, what a great motivation to have a fab bikini as motivation. Think I might have to copy your idea to have something nice to work towards wearing- any excuse to go shopping.

In september I tipped the scales at 17 stone and 8 pounds (I am 5"10 but it was still alot) and worked so hard till about christmas but since the new year I have kind of been sitting still at this weight so need this final push.

Who else is in?

Ooooh, I'm in, I'm in! Great to see a new thread inthesky. Hello all!

Been thinking about shifting post baby weight for a while now, and made some half hearted attempts, but aware i can't go too fast as still bf soon to be 5 monther.

Heading back to Oz in August with bub, for best friend's wedding and would like to be happy enough with my looks to not worry about seeing my folks and old friends again, not to mention all the inevitable photos.

Weigh in: 11 st 9. BMI: 28.9

My plan of action is to lose the biscuits and sugar in tea, cut down on wheat products (doesn't agree with me anyway), no carbs after 7pm and a 1 and 1/2 hour walk with the buggy every day.

I'm not sure what a reasonable goal is while bfing. Somewhere between 1 -2 pounds a week? If so, then would like to lose 9 - 18 pounds in 9 weeks. Is this sensible? Or not ambitious enough?

HI meimango. Just looked at your profile, I see you are in Finchley. I used to live in E Finchley, then N Finchley until just over a year ago until I moved down to Surrey! Small world . I am aiming for 2 pounds a week with 11 weeks until my holiday I could lose 22lbs, taking me to 9 stone exactly, which would be fab!

Hi meimango- good to have you here! I am new to MN so you will all have to be gentle with me. I am struggling to remember what I did on the internet before this which is a good and bad sign!

Meimango, your plan sounds very sensible to me. The best way to look at it is to make lots of small (and achievable) changes. Not sure about goal setting while bfing, but to me it sounds very reasonable.

Has anyone got any good tips to get us all off to a good start?

I have just got back from a good hour long power walk in the park. Certainly got the heart pumping and felt good to be using my energy in a positive way.

Plus according to this I have burned 382 calories. Not sure how accurate that website is but it's nice to have a measure.

Thanks intheskywithdiamonds. Have bookmarked that so I can keep tabs on my excercise (an hopefully will encourage me to do more).

I'll join in - have been doing ok as started running in January but after doing RFL 2 weeks ago, I had a break and weight started creeping back on. I have 8 weeks to go until my holiday and would like to lose as much as poss !

I am signed up for a 10K run round Hampton Court in September but need to get up to running 10K by the end of term as I will have less running time when dd is off pre-school so hoepfully that will help me shift some pounds !

Currently:

10stone 4 lbs - target at least 9st 7 lbs (but ideally 9 stone !).

Will start tomorrow as want some wine tonight

Hello Wheelybug, welcome to the gang!

Well done for doing RFL and for signing up for a 10k that's great. Hope you enjoyed your wine last night!

This morning I managed to fit in a quick visit to the gym and did 10 mins on the stepper, cross trainer, bike and rower so I am really pleased.

Am feeling a bit hungry now so think I will go and find some fruit to snack on.

How is everyone doing today?

Of course you can Lucewheel (great name by the way! my name is lucy and sadly had the nick name Screw Luce for a while which was not fun at all, yours is much nicer) Welcome.

5 weeks till your holiday is great, just enough time to really build some momentum without hitting the dreaded plateau.

Motivation is a tricky thing. I was just offered some cake (the danger of offices!) and said no. My motivation was that I would rather loose weight for my holiday than have a piece of cake. So I suppose you could look at it the same way.

How does everyone else stay motivated?

Right have just done a weeks meal plan and an online shop, thus reducing the temptation to buy anything naughty. I find having meal plans means I eat throught the day and plan the calorie intake more effectively, thereefore don't get hungry throught the day, nor run out of "allowance" by evening. I have also discovered that sugar free jelly isn't too bad tasting and helps curb a sweet tooth craving.

Hi All !

I did a 5K run this morning and haven't had much time to eat so that's good in one way but probably means I will get starving later.

My worst hunger time is definitely late afternoon, early evening. We often don't eat until 10pm + as DH works long hours so that's not v. good for me !

Wine was lovely last night but back on wagon....

Luce, make a big pot of soup, full of veggies/pulses etc and have a bowl when hunger strikes. Nice and filling, and stops the snacking. Or make loads of crudite and keep in a tupperware to have with hummus.

Hi Dinny, welcome! This thread is a great distraction from work and snacking- I couldn't ask for more.

Meal planning is the key I think. I hate making my packed lunch for work each evening (probably as I leave it till last thing so I am exhausted and wishing I could be in bed) but it is a life saver. Also means I saved so much money. Being a big greedy snacker can really add up with trips to Pret and M&S.

Luce, love the idea of hanging a bikini by the cross trainer- not sure how that would go down at the gym though. It will have to be a mental picture I think for me.

We are all straying into the danger snacking time by the looks of it. Has everyone got nice healthy dinners to look forward to?

Hi, can i join in too? I'd like to lose at least half a stone by end of June if possible. I'm 5' 4" and 10st 2lbs, target ideally would be 9 and a half stone.

Will start tomorrow morning by following Slimming World plan (fell off this plan with a bump a few weeks ago so time to get back into it) and running a few times a week. I've been a regular 5k runner for the last few years but will be trying a 10k in 3 month's time. My biggest downfalls are the usual suspects...wine and snacking, so will try to keep these under control.

Healthy dinner out the window as I made cassoulet (promised dh ages ago) but will only have a small portion and fill up on salad.

Wheelybug, saw the post re Hampton Court and suspected you were local.
