Fat people - What do you eat all day?

Following on from the other thread I thought it was confession time. I'm not exactly fat but after having a baby (Fifteen months ago) I could do with losing a stone. Why am I not losing?

So here goes. Today

Two piece of toast and marmite (With proper butter)

Banana/bunch of grapes

Jacket potato with cheese (No butter, weird lunch time concession to dieting)

8 maltesers

About to have garlic bread while still at work...will definitely have at least two larget glasses of wine and after that not sure but I don't think there are any vegetables in the house...

Think I've just answered my own question about why I'm not losing weight. Should probably just post on here every time I eat something...

You're right though - writing it down does help.

ragtaggle - do write it down, and you might see a pattern about what you eat, and when you lose/gain. I did the food diary thing for a while last year, and although it was pretty obvious that I never got anyway near to the 2000 calories a day which is supposed to be what most people can have there were times I would gain weight quite dramatically. Correlating what I'd eaten against that it was pretty obvious that wheat was the problem, so I've tried to cut it completely if I'm at home (not always possible of course if eating out etc) and it's made a huge difference. Try cutting things you are suspicious of out one at a time (dare I suggest Alcohol as one of them?) and you might find that there is something which is a trigger for you.

A typical day for me (and I could do with losing a lot more than a stone!) is:

Breakfast: either just black coffee or black coffee plus an apple (if I'm going to the gym first thing). At weekends I might have a small omellete with mushrooms, peppers or lean bacon, or even smoked salmon in it on one of the days.

Lunch: mixed fruit (quite a lot - about 450g of it) during the week, or sometimes soup or salad with something like ham or a small piece of cheese at weekends.

Afternoon: perhaps some grapes, or satsumas, etc

Dinner: vegetables - usually 3 or 4 different ones, plus about 200g fish or meat (probably 6 days out of 7), and perhaps (not every day) a smallish portion of something like brown/wild rice or potato and onion rosti. Will have wine with dinner at weekends, otherwise sparkling water or diet ginger beer.

That's enough, for me, to stay stable or lose - but I only need to add in one sandwich, slice of toast or portion of pasta, and I'll gain about 4lbs in a day.

Lol - when I read this title I assumed that Coddy had started this thread. It's very like her refreshing direct approach

After 2 children in 3 years I have some weight to loose (about 2 stone), but its not all down to pregnancies. I do eat too much. My only saving grace is despite being a lard arse I run 3 miles two or three times weekly. If I didn't I would probably be 26 stones by now.

My diet has recently improved (got healthier) but I still eat too much:

Brekkie: 3 slices of toast plus butter and marmite

Mid morning: banana and apple

Lunch: A roll or small baguette without mayo

Mid afternoon: packet of pretzels

5pm: 2 slices of toast with butter and marmite (to keep the kids company during their tea)

Dinner - some meat or fish dish with veggies

Post dinner - at least 2 glasses of wine or some lager

I think my problem is I eat reasonably healthily a lot of the time but just too much of it (cannot believe that a 'normal' portion of pasta is a fistful or something similar - I can eat that in one mouthful ). Also add in the odd choccy bar/few biscuits or bottle of wine and it all adds up really quickly. Don't think it takes that much to put on weight tbh for lots of people if you don't step back and look at your diet occasionally or do regular exercise.

Today, so far (by 11.30am) I've eaten a massive bowl of rice krispies with full fat milk and lashings of sugar, a breakway and about 5 rich tea biscuits

For some reason my appetite is raging atm!

Well, I am a "porkie" and DH is really p**g me off with his new "health kick". He's lost 5lbs this week without even trying

Anyway today so far -
One cup of coffee, with 1 sugar and skimmed milk.

Bowl of Porridge (unsweetened!) even though it was crying out for sugar to added

2 satsumas

For lunch, probably some soup with bread.

Then for dinner, some pasta dish as I am still without my oven (packed in last Wednesday). New one arrives on Wednesday.

I have told the kids to hide their "selection boxes" so I can't find them, otherwise I'll be nibbling.
