Just wondering how you are getting on.

Cant quite believe that this works - anyone stepped on the scales yet? This is my first week of it.

I am off to weightwatchers for my first weigh in tommorrow

have done ww in the past but totally fell off the wagon when I moved house. I am determined to shift it all and make it stay off this time!

kitty says no count is when everything is no point for the whole day? is that right? i know when i did ww last time, if i has=d a bad few days i would make a big fat of no point soup and have that only for a few days (not suggested I know) but it did work!

Not sure that Kitty has got it exactly right, hence the call to fellow nocounters.

I think its this:You can eat ANYTHING from the NoCount list and as much of it as you want, BUT only during your 3 meals a day. Hence, if you get peckish say mid afternoon then you can only have the normal no point' things, or pointed things up to 3 points (or fruit and veg). I think some people will confuse it with other diets where you can eat at any time during the day.

Maybe its me thats got it wrong - would be great if I had!! cause then I could eat more!

Good Luck. The conventional WW definitely works doesn't it, but like you I fell off the wagon before Xmas!

Hi Merlot, I'm giving it a go, but I changed midweek from Full choice and am only on day 2 ! So I don't know how I'm doing although my scales reckon I have lost a couple of pounds. I've been a bit worried about putting on on No Count so I'm sticking to the rules but still pointing it to see if it would come within my daily points allowance and so far to my amazement it has and I haven't been anywhere near as hungry as before.

Fio, I don't think I explained it at all well. What I meant is that you don't count points. There's a list of foods you chose 3 meals a day from - loads of stuff, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruit, veg, meat, poultry, fish, non-sugary cereals, skimmed milk, low fat yoghurt and cottage cheese. You are supposed to eat until you are comfortably satisfied. Any eating inbetween has to be fruit or veg, or taken from a weekly allowance of 21 points, even if it is something on the No Count list like yoghurt for example. Does that make any more sense now ?

I'm doing the points one cause I didn't understand the other one. I was dead chuffed as I'd lost 0.9kg this week. I put my weight in as I'm doing it on line. I was devastated to find that since my last weigh-in (last year, I did weight watchers then stopped), I'd put on 2.5kg. It basically shook it's head at me.
I'm off for an cream cake disguised as a grapefruit!

Kitty - really interesting about you pointing the No Count stuff and it coming out within normal points. Like you, I'm eating so much more at meal times that I'm worried I'll put on.

V.interesting though, because NoCount definitely makes you aware about picking, because you cant really do it can you?

Let me know how you get on. xx

Gscrym - enjoy your `cream cake'

You're definitely right about the picking, it has made me realise how much I tend to. I thought I'd really miss bread but haven't so far, though it is very early days I'll find out on Wednesday how I've done so I'll let you know. I'd be very interested to know how you get on as well, fingers crossed for losses and no gains

Sorry (dim here) - so you only have no point foods? Don't you get really hungry? I've put on 8lbs over Christmas so am back counting my points again (got my journal out and blew the cobwebs off it...)

Merlot · 10/01/2005 16:13

LOL Marthamoo.

A No point plan would be abysmal wouldn't it?

No, this NoCount Plan is the new thing released by WW in tandem with the usual Point Scheme(which they now call full choice).

The new plan is called Switch because you can switch on a weekly basis between NoCount and Full Choice.

The NoCount has a list of foods from which you can choose from and have as much of during your 3 meals a day. It includes all lean meat, pasta, rice and practically every type of fruit and vegetable (including potatoes). The only thing you cant eat freely at mealtimes is bread.

God forbid a diet where you could only eat No Point food - you'd die of boredom if you didnt die of hunger first!

Thanks merlot - it still sounds hellish complicated. I'll stick to my 18 points a day (26.5 today so far...oops)

Report
Merlot · 11/01/2005 10:56

LOL at your 26 points so far Marthamoo (know the feeling well!)

NoCount is not really complicated - if you're interested it would be worth rejoining for a week (no registration fee) and then you would have all the blurb you need. Alternatively WW Magazine is quite informative this month.

What I'm worried about, is that I cant believe I will lose weight on it - so I'll keep you posted.
Think this relies on people knowing when they feel pleasantly full, as Dior says. Whilst I have a tendancy to finish everything on my plate.

Well, will have to wait and see. Thursday is face the music time

I've ordered an 'at home' pack but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm probably going to give No Count a try but I'm also worried about eating too much at mealtimes.

At the mo' I'm trying to keep within the spirit of No Count as I understand it until my pack arrives and I can check it out properly. Have just had a jacket spud with cottage cheese, a fat free youghurt and a tangerine for lunch and am feeling HUGE. Think I should have stopped half way through the spud, not sure how successful I'm going to be at this.....

hello can I join this thread? am due my first weigh in at ww tomorrow - have done a week of point counting. it's very dull, having to look up and add up everything, but I guess it will get easier. couldnt do nocount cos like to graze too much! has anyone tried the on line points tracker? I cant work out how to get onto it!

Report
Kittypickle · 11/01/2005 13:10

Lu9months, I think you have to be an online member to get access to the tracker. I'm waiting for a Tesco delivery and thought lunch was going to be a disaster as there is not a lot in the cupboard. I ended up with chicken, new potatoes and salad with a creamy mustard dressing, which was 7 points, low GI and really delicious. Feel very nice and full now. I'm wondering though how No Count is going to fit with my ever increasing PMT !

tex111 · 11/01/2005 13:33

I'm in my first week of NoCount and I obviously didn't understand it at all because I've been basically grazing from the No Point list all day! So, it's just three meals and then all snacks have to be whole fruit or veg ONLY?? That would definitely make a difference. Will try to do it properly from now on.

My first session was a bit hectic. The leader was trying to explain it all in about 30 minutes. Hopefully they'll be a bit more clear about it all tomorrow when I weigh in. I'm sure I haven't lost a pound but then I have been doing it wrong!

Report
Kittypickle · 11/01/2005 14:47

Tex you must have been starving ! Yes it's 3 meals made up from things on the list starting on page 36, then only fuit or veg for snacks inbetween, or things from your 21 points weekly allowance. If you have something like a WW yoghurt from the list inbetween meals, then you have to count it from your weekly points (think that's right)

Went to WW tonight and lost 4lbs, so cautiously optimistic that it will work, despite only having done it for some of the week. When's yours Merlot ?

Joined ww today. Wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting. I weigh less than I did when I was pregnant with the DTs. However, I did lose weight as I was too sick to eat and everything came back up. Yuk!!!!!!!!! Have been incredibly hungry whilst breastfeeding and so have gained weight again. Am bringing the breastfeeding down to once a day so not too worried about the diet affecting anything and the DTs are on solids so are getting what they need. I have about 3st to lose so here goes Thanks for asking Dior
