40kg to lose - anti inflammatory

Rainbowsleepysloth · 27/03/2021 10:18

Hi šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø
Iā€™m wondering if anyone else is following an anti inflammatory diet?
I have minimum 40kg to lose (this would bring me within healthy BMI)
Iā€™m 39
Height 5ā€™3ā€
Weight 100.7kg
Waist 40.5ā€
Not really following any diet plan, I need to fully commit to anti inflammatory as Iā€™m gluten & dairy intolerant. Iā€™ve been way too blasĆ© about the situation and not only gained a lot of weight but everything aches, Iā€™m swollen (edema) and sore all the time. My migraines are getting a lot worse and more frequent. In short, life is not very enjoyable šŸ˜• so change I must!
Be lovely to have some company šŸ˜

Good luck @Rainbowsleepysloth. My son is dairy free, and Iā€™m gluten free, so we eat a lot of meat and fish with loads of veg. Asian/ Indian food is also your friend.

Try taking a turmeric supplement every day. Or use it in your cooking as much as possible. It has great anti inflammatory properties.

Hi @ByeByeMissAmericanPie thank you, thatā€™s great advice šŸ˜Š I will look into tumeric supplements. Itā€™s not been too difficult to navigate at home so far, Iā€™m still in the ā€˜honeymoon phaseā€™ though šŸ˜‚

I follow a Keto diet. For me itā€™s very anti-inflammatory. I can eat lots of food I enjoy I just canā€™t eat sugars and carbs. I lost a stone and Iā€™ve kept it off. I could do with losing another 7lbs but thatā€™s vanity weight and i can sit at this weight quite comfortably.

Hi @justanotherneighinparadise thatā€™s a great achievement. I think if your body is happily sitting at that weight then itā€™s a great situation to be in!!
Iā€™ve heard a lot about Keto plans. Definitely something for me to look further into thanks šŸ˜Š

Thank you @ByeByeMissAmericanPie fingers crossed I can stay positive and keep going šŸ˜

hello
Think I will join you Smile
I generally try to do dairy and gluten free and feel much better when I am really strict with it.
Lately I got a bit lazy so just need to get my act together again...
Will weigh myself at some point this week but think I will need to lose around the same as you.

That sounds awesome, well done. Are you following any particular advice?

I'm wondering if I react badly to bread. I'm doing slimming world and the only real change (apart from occasional treats which I'm not having) is eating less bread.

@Rainbowsleepysloth if you're considering keto/low carb, why not come and join us on the next Low Carb Bootcamp, which is starting on 12 April. the sign-up thread is here

Yay!! Buddies šŸ˜

Hi @swlondonnanny Iā€™m the same I feel a lot better when Iā€™m strict but get lazy (or usually feel like Iā€™m an inconvenience) but Iā€™m feeling really old, swollen and sore so I need to be taking action.

Hi @picklemewalnuts at the moment Iā€™m just cutting out gluten and dairy, eating 3 meals a day and snacking if necessary. Iā€™m not going crazy straight off because I always burnout. I have followed slimming world in the past and lost a couple of stone fairly quickly and easily. I get to a point where every conversation becomes about my weight (intended by people in a positive way), I find it quite intrusive, wig out and sabotage myself spectacularly. So that is going to be a challenge I have to overcome this time šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Anyways, how would you guys like to navigate this?
I keep a daily food journal. Iā€™m not exercising at the moment besides walking.
I have set a 12 week goal of 15kg but that is maybe a little ambitious- I can tweak it though šŸ˜Š

Is there a specific diet/plan you've been recommended? One of my friends has just been recommended this plan

I don't know anything about it, but have just ordered the book.

In all honesty, any loss is beneficial. It doesn't matter if it takes a year or a month as long as you feel better in the meantime. I always think it took years to get like this, and I want years at my best weight, so there's no point rushing now. I mean, being severe with yourself isn't sustainable for the rest of your life.

I'll stick with SW for now, but will keep an eye on the anti inflammatory thing. I may start taking turmeric, or whatever. I could probably cut out gluten. If I could stay at target by cutting out bread and pasta, that would be a major win!

I've lost 3 stone, have another 4 to go. I'm no longer morbidly obese, but it's still a fair way to just 'overweight'! šŸ¤£

@BIWI trial and error, strip everything back and reintroduce foods to catorgorise them as ok or avoid. Thatā€™s it! I really havenā€™t had any joy with doctors (I live remote rural and support is lacking in most areas).

@picklemewalnuts youā€™ve had an amazing journey already!! Awesome šŸ‘ Iā€™m teetering on the brink of morbid obesity so I have a long way to go. I definitely want to just find a lifestyle I can live with for all eternity. The quick losses are so tempting but just never sustainable for me.
