Saxenda?

Has anyone ever tried the saxenda injections before?

Really considering giving them a go but they're expensive and it's a lot of money if they don't help!

I've been on them a few weeks, been trying to lose weight since October but it was really slow. I've lost 7lb in 2 weeks! I'm on a couple of FB support groups for it and there are people there with even bigger losses. It's a controversial drug due to reported potential side effects, so have a read up about them to make an informed decision. It is expensive but so far worth it for me. I bought one pen to begin with and will likely buy 5 now as some pharmacies do a discount. Lloyds Pharmacy offer it as a weight loss management programme with consultations and a healthy eating plan (but slightly more expensive)

Also to add - I use it alongside calorie counting and exercising. It helps me stick to my daily calorie allowance and I often don't eat them all. I've been calorie counting for months and struggling not to binge and this has definitely given me a boost in terms of reducing my appetite

I really want to try it but feel squeamish because of the needle 😱 wish it were something we could drink

Can someone explain it to me please. How many do you buy, how long does it last and where to buy it?

uggmum · 06/02/2021 10:33

You can buy it from on line chemists.
There is a company called Skinny Jab they sell it but it is very expensive from there.
Pharmacy 2 you have it at under £300 for 5 pens.

So I bought it and started taking it on Thursday.
This is 3 days in.
I'm nauseous all the time it's not extreme but it's definitely there.
It's the strangest feeling ever I have zero appetite. No hunger whatsoever! I eat because I know I should or I've got a headache.
Went grocery shopping today and nothing appealed to me!
I've lost 2 pounds so far.

@Pancakeorcrepe the needle is so so tiny!
You can't feel it at all and can just about see it! I wouldn't let that put you off.

How long does one pen last? How many doses a day?

Report
buckeejit · 13/02/2021 17:56

So is it just an appetite suppressant?

I'd like something to boost my weight loss but been doing well with restricted calories for 6 weeks so not sure this would be any benefit to me

@omtotheg can I ask how it works with the needle? Do you literally just have to do the tiniest prick in your skin, and where do you inject yourself?
@buckeejit I’m in the same situation, I’ve lost a bit more than a stone since 4th January but am looking into options for breaking my plateau.

I'd like to know about this too - how many pens do you need to order from Burwash? And how you getting in now?

So I took it for a week. I nausea was so bad constantly feeling sick.
I can't say its affected my sleep at all.
I lost 2 pounds not a lot considering how little I was eating.
I missed two days (one day I forgot the next I thought I actually enjoyed not feel sick yesterday!) so I started taking it again this morning at this stage I should have upped the dose but I haven't as yet.
Cant say ive felt particularly hungry at all today.
I'm going to try harder this week and calorie count too.

@Pancakeorcrepe I inject my stomach in the morning when I get up.
The needle is very very fine and quite short too I don't feel a thing.

I'm going to start Monday - the nausea does concern me as it seems to be quite common which would be difficult with 2 small children 😬

I looked into this and had to rule it out due to potential reactions and pre-existing issues. As a result, I would advise ANYONE to be THOROUGH when asking about potential side effects...as I don't think they would have told me if I hadn't acknowledged my pre-existing condition - and the side effect has impacted people WITHOUT this condition.

I ordered 5 pens worth, I'm on my 4th pen now and am 38.5lb down - I didn't increase the dose as the schedule, I've just increased it as I've needed so technically I should be on 3ml a day but I'm still taking 1.2 and my appetite is still reduced. In fact I have to force myself to eat.

@notapizzaeater that's amazing!!!
Tell me more! Do you not get sore heads/ tummy ache from not eating?

When I don't eat I get a headache and start to feel funny but I'm not hungry I eat to stop feeling like this.

What do you eat in a typical day?

@omtotheg

I'm forcing myself to eat really, I'm genuinely not hungry in the slightest. I don't do breakfast normally so I just have a cup of tea. Fir lunch I have pure protein, a chicken breast, egg, ham etc. For tea I have protein with lots of veg (or as much as I can eat - my portions are tiny compared to normal) I don't eat many carbs but I am eating them (had pasta bake the other day). I got a box of Ferri Rocher for my birthday so I might have 1 (unheard of - they'd have been gone by now)

Am thinking of starting this. I feel since the beginning of lockdown I've really gone back to all my bad eating habits (I was going so well too!)- and it's so hard to be motivated just now as there's nothing to do.
Would you recommend going through someone like Skinny Revolution or just buying direct from Lloyds etc? Obv it's cheaper just to buy direct but are there any downsides?

At £300 for five pens, how much per pen?
Notapizzaeater has lost approx 2 and half stone on 4 pens.

I wonder if it would work to help with plateaus? I'm 12 kg down, but have another 25+kg to lose.
