I managed to again 4 stone whilst pregnant by happily eating anything I could lay my hands on BlushMy baby is now 8 weeks old and I need to start to lose some of it (rather than gaining more with late night chocolate eating 🤦‍♀️)

There’s about 6 weeks left of 2020 and I’d love to be a step closer to fitting in my clothes by the end of it.

If you would like to lose weight and can't do it alone, join me to make this all a little easier (and keep me in line!) I don’t know what I weigh exactly but I will check and post tomorrow morning.

I’m with you! Have a good 2 - 3 stone to lose (if not more) after DS. Started back on WW on Wednesday. Are you following a plan or just eating healthier yourself? X

Hi :) how old is your DS? I'm just going to start by cutting out all the extras (mostly chocolate and biscuits) and try to replace with healthier snacks. Then I'll try a more structured plan I think.
When I get a moment I will weigh myself, DS is too hiccuppy for the playmat right now!

I'm doing slimming world. I've about 8 stone to lose. I'm struggling with constipation though 😳 very frustrating- I'm eating lots of fruit and veg, have added weetabix and chia seeds in...

I've lost almost a stone.

Cutting out the treats, and did a low carb week as well as I'd started to stall.

picklemewalnuts great that you've lost a stone already. How do you find slimming world? I've never tried a plan like that- or WW- maybe that's what I need.

My starting weight today is 13 stone 5. 10 and a half is a good weight for me but 2 stone off would make a huge difference. I'm aiming for a stone off by the end of the year. I'm not sure how realistic that is with Christmas but I am going to try.

It's good- really highlights the problem foods! Keeps you on the straight and narrow, I'd say.

Do you cook from basics, or use a lot of sauces? That's something to work on, because processed foods have lots of hidden extras.doing old fashioned cooking helps straight away, without you giving anything up.

I used to do all the cooking and would do a lot from scratch. This past couple of months it's been whatever is quick and easy - so lots of pasta and jar sauce- definitely not the best. When my husband does dinner he usually leaves it too late and ends up buying a pizza.

I read on another thread, someone said they prepare a salad bar for the fridge with tubs of different stuff that's ready to eat. I need something a bit like that because it's when I'm hungry and in coop that I buy all the snacks to eat whilst DS is napping.

Do you cook slimming world recipes or use their ready meals?

He’s 7 months. I should of started sooner tbh.. I always find when I’m on WW I am very structured. I tend to cook a lot more from scratch when on it too. I like the idea of the salad bar in the fridge! I may have to try this! X

We are all home at the moment, and I've always had a structured family life- foster carer, lots of kids, everyone wanted to know when they were being fed.

So we have very structured meals too. That really helps me. We all (4adults) eat lunch just after 12, and dinner just after 5. Then we have a snack/treat around 8ish, though that isn't planned it just seems to happen every night!

Knowing when the meal is and what we're having helps me to avoid snacking in between times, or ever feeling too hungry.

I haven't used many SW recipes, I find the website quite trying! I just amend what I usually cook.

There is a great recipe, baked oats, that you can flavour your preferred way. It makes a cake/muffin/flapjack that people have as a healthy treat. They top it with fruit and melted Nutella/biscoff, and it looks like a proper pudding! I've made it savoury, with cheese, and that's been nice as a bread sub as well.

EauDeMilk · 15/11/2020 18:11

That recipe sounds like a great idea- I eat a lot of oats/ drink oat milk so an oat based treat would be good.
The lack of structure is definitely what's affecting my eating habits - but with a tiny baby it's probably par for the course. I have to confess eating six Jaffa cakes for breakfast today Shockit was the only thing I could grab and eat with one hand.
I had a food delivery today so I will now prep some pots of stuff to keep in the fridge and see how that goes.

Shall we do a weekly weigh-in/ post how much we lost?
I think I'll aim for a pound a week as I'm breastfeeding so won't be cutting carbs or doing anything drastic! Hoping a week off the snacks might kick start things with a couple of pounds loss

Sounds good to me! I know how tiny babies complicate things! Having some baked oat bars in the bread box might be handy- you can grab and eat!

Another fast and tasty snack is muller light pots. They are tasty and low, and not really yogurty. I've got some with chocolate flavours like salted caramel, straciatella, choc orange and choc mint. They are nice! Their 'chocolate fix' pot is lovely- but more calorific.

Hullo. I've lost five stone, but I've got five left to go and I've plateaued for a couple of months, so I need to be more accountable for what I'm eating and the exercising I'm doing. And maybe get a bit of support because it's really hard not moving on the scales despite making the same amount of effort as before.

I'm 14st 8lbs today.

Gosh Kaki, that's amazing! Well done.

Have you any tips for me? I'm finding it a bit overwhelming, facing how long it's going to take, and that it's a life time commitment then to keep it off.

picklemewalnuts · 15/11/2020 19:40

Being exercise accountable might be helpful! I do tai chi weekdays. I need to be more active around the edges- get the daily step count up.

Hi Kaki, that's a fantastic weight loss so far. Definitely let's share tips or just be there for support. I was overweight as a teen and young adult and lost about 5 stone. It's much harder to shift now I'm older and can't just pop to the gym etc. I've yo-yoed up and down for the past few years and now the heaviest I've been in a long time.
I'm walking 1-4 miles a day at the moment which is better than nothing.
Good tip about the muller pots Pickle, I def prefer it when they are not too yoghurty!!
Having my thyroid checked again this week - I'm on the max dose at the moment so hopefully the doctor is not keen to reduce as that will make weight loss even harder

One day at a time.

Meal plan and do a batch cook weekly or fortnightly, then refrigerate or freeze. The meals being right to hand lessens the temptation to eat rubbish and regular meals means I snack less.

One third of my plate is always veggies, one third carbs, one third protein. I try to keep my calories within 1200-1400 per day. Sugar is extremely limited, I try to eat low fat but allow some milk and cheese every day. Cut out bread, cakes, biscuits. I allow myself occasional treats, but don't go mad on it. A couple of hundred calories.

The exercise is easy enough, it starts very slow and builds up over weeks, so it's just about being regular with it. I've been out of running for three weeks due to a soft tissue injury in my foot, but I'm ready to go again tomorrow. I enjoy it because it makes me feel really happy afterwards, endorphins I think.

I get my chocolate fix with a cup of my milk (which I allow daily) and add some choc shot and a touch of sweetener. Calcium and chocolate fix.

I have fibromyalgia and need to be a bit careful with exercise. I can 'injure' myself with a little enthusiasm, and then be unable to exercise for weeks. That's why I do daily tai chi- it's hard to injure yourself doing tai chi! I have to be quite gentle, look after my feet, not be vigorous about anything. So walking basically. I like dancing, but that's a recipe for disaster! Oh and the wii fit is good as long as I'm careful.

picklemewalnuts · 15/11/2020 20:16

I have my calcium from two of 40g reduced fat cheese, a coffee made with milk, or weetabix with hot milk. Yum.

I have fibro too, hey. I've been building up my stamina to start running for months, basically since I started in March. I am more prone to injury, but I am doing my physio daily to keep muscles and joints stronger. Then it's just about monitoring my body as I run.

Kakiweewee · 15/11/2020 20:20

Plus my GP gave me an activity referral a few weeks ago, though I can't yet use it, I'll further strengthen my body to be able to exercise without injury.

Room for a not so wee one ?

I am in bed planning my Monday weight loss plan (again)

I cook from scratch and my meals are relatively healthy, but I love to snack and I have over 4 stone to lose.
It feels overwhelming and I know I will find it hard so could do with any support I can get.

Welcome HereIgo :)
After a terrible day of biscuits yesterday it is Monday- always seems to make more sense to start on a Monday!
I'm aiming to eat a regular lunch and dinner but snacks will be limited to fruit and an oat bar. No chocolate ( there's none left as I ate it all yesterday Wink)

Heya All!

I've done my run for today. Started back on week 1 of Couch to 5k just to check how my injured foot felt. Seems okay. Feels so good after a run!

Tomorrow will be Strength and Flex. Still got a couple of physio videos to follow today.

I'm doing a one week push to move the scales, so cutting back a bit on food.

Today I've had an apple and banana and some homemade veggie, red lentil and bacon soup with two mini slices of wholemeal bread.

How is everyone feeling about today? What successes have you had?

Hello! Well done Kaki!

I've had a rough day- up in the night with toothache, so struggling. As a result I had all the wrong things at lunchtime. However, I'll be back on track for dinner.

Due to rough night I was late to tai chi but I still did it! Apart from that I've been sluggish. However I will do better tomorrow when I'm not wrestling with the desire to go back to bed!

So, fresh start activity wise tomorrow. Food wise this evening.
