Half a stone by Christmas anyone?

EasternDailyStress · 07/11/2020 13:25

I did really well over the last lockdown and lost 1.5 stone. Over the past month or so the weight's started to creep back on ...

I like to do slow and steady, so am aiming for 6/7lbs by Christmas, using a combination of MFP and being more active.

Can't exercise as such due to a foot injury at the moment.

Would anyone be up for a bit of moral support and chat?

Maybe a weekly check-in too?

I’ll join you. I’m 5ft 8 and 11 stone which is healthy but is the heaviest I’ve ever been and makes me chubby around my middle. I know it’s wine calories that does it so I’m determined to get down to 10.5 stone. I’m doing 5:2 fasting and cutting down alcohol. I have quite an active job but don’t exercise enough. Not sure when I’m going to fit that in!

I feel I need to join. I lost almost 2 stone last year and started slowly creeping back on since the beginning of the year. I am almost a stone heavier probably and not happy.
I do try to eat low carb but the carbs have crept back in.
If I don't do it now I will easily be half a stone heavier after Christmas.
This could be the kick up the bum I need!

Ive had a few declining weeks. I’m in a good place, mentally, now. I’m cutting out the gin.
My mood has been low and I’ve been drinking everyday, which makes my mood worse, which makes me drink more. And snack. And skip workouts. And buy takeaways.
The drink alone is probably 300-500 empty calories every day. Maybe more.
I need some new batteries for my scales, but 6-7 pounds feels achievable.
I can’t manage MFP. I batchcook and can’t deal with weighing and figuring out portion sizes.
Cutting out drinks and takeaways should do it.

So today is the day I start to get a grip.
No plan as such just avoiding snacking for now and making sure I have a decent amount of veg on my plate at meals.
Good luck everyone!

Hi I will join if that's ok.

I weighed myself this morning and I am 11st 6.5.

I am really fed up with how I look carrying all this lard.

Today's the start!

Can I join you? I weighed myself yesterday and was 12st 4.5, which is far too fat at 5'4. My short term goal is 11st7 by Christmas, but I really want to be under 10st6 and have a healthy bmi again.

Have eaten egg on toast for breakfast and am about to walk to the supermarket to grab a few bits.

Major difference between this lock down and the last is that I'm not working 60 hours a week this time, and therefore have time to think about nutrition. And I also bought myself a treadmill so am completing couch to 5k on that

@muddledmidget I am 5'4 too. I carry all my excess weight around my middle. I look pregnant and am bursting out of my clothes. I refuse to buy a bigger size.

@ilovecharlie I had to give in and buy more work trousers in a larger size, I only had one pair that actually fitted me! But I'm refusing to buy anything else. Am actually pleased the gym is shut and I bought a treadmill as my sports kit looks like it's about to bust a seam as soon as I put it on, and the bras are an interesting fit....

@muddledmidget I'm currently sporting the four boob look where my bras are extremely snug. Plus a lovely roll of back fat.

I'm in also. Had to put very snug and ample shaper underwear on to get trousers on yesterday which rolled down to a lovely tourniquet around my middle the minute I sat down. A very uncomfortable day at work. So am keen to join you all - why am I suddenly hungry though?

Ooh lots of us, I was beginning to think it was just me!

Weighed in this morning and have lost 1lb, which is a great start.

I'm having 3 good meals a day, avoiding sweet things and, most importantly, not snacking, as that's definitely my downfall.

Interesting to see how you are all approaching it. Onward and downward everyone Smile

Ooh this looks like a good thread! I'm nearly four months postpartum and could do with some slow and steady weight loss. After two weeks post birth my weight has just been the same despite breastfeeding, but I think I'd feel a lot better if I could lose even 2-3kgs and keep them off. I'm happy with slow and steady.

Ideally I'd do lots of exercise but DD only naps on me and I get so hot and sweaty that I only manage short walks. I could definitely eat better though, more fruit and veg and less sugary snacks...

@EasternDailyStress well done losing one pound, so much better than gaining ⭐️

Please can I join too!

I’ve lost 2 stone since April I’m 5 foot 7 and weigh 11 stone 7, my next target is 11 stone, by Christmas would be lovely! Slow and steady is definitely best.

I’ve got a PT twice a week and I exercise 5 times a week, normally in the gym. Since lockdown though I’m really struggling with motivation- I’ve got equipment but god it’s boring! I miss having the ‘me time’ and destress that the gym gave me.

How many calories are you aiming for on MFP?

11.7 is where I want to be to feel happy but that is approx 9lb away which feels like such a mission.
I'm going to have a light meal this evening and a 30min cycle then get my proper start weight tomorrow.

This thread is going to be so helpful to check and be accountable to.

Just been listening to a Feel Better Live More podcast with Prof Tim Spector, who talks a lot of sense about eating meals of good quality food and not snacking. Definitely worth a listen if that sort of thing interests you. I've listened to loads of those podcasts, as I think Dr Chatterjee is brilliant.

@FerreroRocherAreAmazing your user name is highly inappropriate for a weight loss thread 🤣

@EasternDailyStress I am definitely going in search of that.
Mr motivator said something....motivating today on radio 2 so I am looking for continued motivation about looking after mental health too.
Knowing I've put weight back on has made me feel so rubbish about myself and why I don't have the will power to avoid making bad food choices.

@EasternDailyStress would you recommend starting at Episode 1, or dip in and out at any point? I wish podcasts tell me that in the blurb, before I start listening in the car.

1lb off - I'm aware it's nothing but it's a start.
Have evaluated what I need to lose and this time last year I was 8lb lighter so that's what I am going for.
I intend to keep it up and have a final weigh in on 21st December.
I prob won't relax my eating until the 24th though.
