Huge panic. Dress doesn't fit(69 Posts)
Hi all,... I've name changed for this, we have only told 7 people we are marrying in November hence I'd prefer not to be identified.
We were originally due to marry in April, my last dress fitting was end of February. We have since had 2 weddings cancelled. I've therefore not tried my dress on since February. I presumed my weight was fairly stable.... today I've tried my dress and I cannot get the dress zipper done up, I basically need to lose around 5mm from my upper rib area in the next month.
I'm 5'10", 11st 10lbs, size 12.
Generally eat fairly healthy, salads with drizzle of balsamic for lunch, lean meat and veg for dinner (none of the larger carb groups), and 2 eggs for breakfast or soya yoghurt and fruit. Snacks are normally home made peanut bites (maple syryip, peanut butter & coconut flour) or something similar nut based.
Im reaching out to you all for any tips to help me get into my dress. Im the same weight now as I was in February.
Exercise is something I could improve, walk around 10 to 15 miles each weekend. 1 mile or 2 each evening, i suffer with back ache due to slipped discs. Welcome your suggestions on change to diets and exercise.
have the dress taken out? Its not worth the stress for such a tiny adjustment in material, surely? Your body naturally fluctuates throughout the month with bloating etc. Alter the dress, not your body.
Go on dietdoctor.com and do their 2 week intro diet. It's keto. No exercise needed alongside.

I’d drop the snacks completely. They sound fairly high calorie.
Where in your cycle are you? Hormones can cause bloating. 5mm is such a small amount.
Drink tons of water and buy some spanks?
Hi auld, great point. I presumed they was a fairly good snack with them being what I would deem healthy fats. I shall swap them foe a black or herbal tea to prevent desire to snack.

Dieting is not something I've done previously, I generally consider myself to have a healthy diet with the exception of red wine and g&t which are completely off the radar now.
The snacks will be fine in the long run, but you need to make a short, sharp change to get into the dress. Cutting calories is much more effective for weight loss than exercise (though you need exercise long term for better health of course!)
5:2 diet. Worked wonders for me!
Drop the nuts entirely. The rest sounds ok but it's probably worth entering it into a calorie counter to see how much you're eating.
As a quick fix I would drop the snacks and definitely no alcohol before the wedding, drink at least 3 litres of water a day and probably start 16:8 too as I find whenever I re start it I always drop a few lbs immediately.
Yes, as a quick fix for a small weight loss drop the alcohol, reduce snacks and portion size. No need to radically change your diet.
You could get a fierce body shaper which might help with the last inch or so.
I would say keto or something like a meal replacement diet. 2 weeks on shakes is going to loose you around 10lbs easily and it's really easy for two weeks. Its normally good for a boost start to healthy eating when your a bit lost. But for a two week emergency it's also good. You wont feel hungry after day 3.
To be honest I’d get the dress altered as there’s no guarantee you will lose from where you need to. You could drop a few pounds and still not fit in and then you would be gutted!
Get on the low carb bootcamp asap. / keto
Peanut butter is quite high in calories. I would drop that.
I know this isn't the point but I wish I was a size 12 I'm the exact same height as you, 11st dead on, yet a size 14 and my size 12s laugh at me from my wardrobe... go figure
Can you get to a gym? Always found the rowing machine or elliptical trainer were really good for losing back fat (not sure that's your problem...??) - or even free weights- bent over rows ( can't think of any other moves) - and diet wise maybe cut down on sugar- wish I could take my own advice here....

Im going to attempt to introduce some light exercises or longer evening walks to help burn a few extra calories.
I feel portion sizes are already light but would value advice. 1 large yoghurt tub will cover 4 breakfasts with a around half a cup of fruit. Lunch is mainly mixed leaves, tuna, sweetcorn and a drizzle of balsamic, tomorrow will be 1 cup brocolli with half a steamed chicken breast. Dinner tonight was steak and 2 cups of roasted cauliflower.

Usernamewastaken..... it always amazes me about differences in body weight & shapes.
Breakfast: what yoghurt and what fruit? Plain yoghurt or fruit based, banana or berries
Lunch: ditch the sweetcorn and add a cucumber/ tomato/ green beans and the balsamic , is it a balsamic dressing or homemade olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Dinner: how do you cook your steak and cauliflower?
To seriously lose weight in a short time, you seriously need to reduce the amount of what you eat

You are eating quite a lot. Make a lighter dinner, without steak /chicken/ just veggies , prepare a salad or a soup without any root vegetable.
When you go for your evening walk, brush your teeth before going, and do not enter the kitchen afterwards.
Hi leGrandBleu, yogurt is coconut soya yogurt, im non dairy due to lactose intolerance.. fruit is either blueberries, pineapple, pear or apple. The balsamic is purely a balsamic vinegar, not mixed with any oil and not the sticky type.
Salad doesn't tend to contain root vegetables that I'm aware of but am hapoy to just drop to salad leaves and cucumber to ensure there aren't any.
Re: dinner, steak is cooked in a non stick frying pan, no oil. Cauliflower was roasted in over with 2 sprays of fry light rape seed oil and a teaspoon of dried herbs.
I honestly didn't think that was a lot of food that I was eating but obviously I'm oblivious to my own gluttony. So you're suggesting dropping the protein from my evening meal?

Today I ate a big bowl of porridge, a latte, a soup full of root veg and quinoa and spaghetti bol for dinner, followed by mango yoghurt and some dark chocolate. I’m losing weight slowly eating like this. You’ll have to be more careful but your diet is certainly not gluttonous!
Your diet is very light, I agree. The shakes thing isn’t a bad call for a couple of weeks.
