Can't even last the day

How can I lack any form of will power
You name the diet or method I've probably mentally thought about continuously for days but once's it's comes to putting it into action I don't even last the day.
The weight creeping up and up and I feel totally out of control.
I really don't know what to do.

Start today.
What type of healthy eating do you want to do.
What is your biggest problem?
Is it the food you eat or your portions or both?

I think the problem is using the word diet it's like a punishment and then that's all you think about. Can you just start by eating less of your usual food and start walking a bit more?

This is definitely true as im constantly in a cycle of binge "for one last time" before the diet
However the diet never seems to happen.
I try to just eat intuitively then end up having a massive panic that I'm going to end up bigger and the obsessing starts.
If I put the amount of effort I put into obsessing over food into practice I'd be slim 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I do gym twice a week (only time available)

What feelings do the words 'diet & dieting' brings up for you?

I find it useful to tell myself I can have anything I want. That way there's no need to have a big "blow out" meal. I ask if I want a cupcake, maybe I'll think yes, then I think ok, maybe have one tomorrow. I honestly try not to just give into a craving, but try and put off having a cupcake for example. Sugar cravings are real though and cutting down on carbs can really help with cravings.

Stop dieting. Seriously. Eat as usual but just make healthier choices. You need to clean yourself of bad habits and bad foods first. Don't wonder if carbs are bad for you. Swap chips for a baked potato. Skip mayo. Try rice crackers instead of crisps for snack. Have seeded brown bread instead of white. Reduce the amount of cooking oil. And so on.

Eat enough, eat until you are full. Just eat healthier for now. In time, when you get used to it, you can think about trying a specific way of eating, if you want.

Stop doing this. Remember that it's not like you won't eat at all. I used to have same issue. Then I cracked it by no "one last blow out" nope. Started that afternoon. No "next Monday", no "tomorrow". Now.

Remember that you will be eating and you will be eating nice food.

My days used to be full of hating myself for what I ate. I was constantly hungry and craving all kinds of 'bad' foods so I thought of myself as 'bad' with awful willpower.

I got depressed and lost self-confidence. I'd wake-up to start a new day and already feel like a loser.

Then, 4 years ago, I diet ditched and it changed my life. I felt so powerful because I was saying no to diets and taking this amazing action to make my days, my years, heck my whole life more positive.

Instead of focussing on diets and labeling myself as 'bad', I began to focus on feeling good with feel-good foods and...

I looked at the rest of my life and realized I'd been so unhappy about tons of things like friendships, work and a lack of fun stuff. Once I began adding more things that I loved to my life and put eating on a feel-good auto-pilot I came out of that depressing 'I'm always bad' state to an 'I can do anything' positive attitude.

Ironically, that's when I lost the 40 pounds I'd been trying to lose forever.

I'd been focussing on all the wrong things. How about you?

also, I started a diet ditching thread if you want to join.

That's for all the advice everyone, I really do need to change my mind set.

If you could link me to that thread I'd appreciate it thanks

Just search the words 'diet ditching' to get to my new diet ditching thread. I'll start throwing on some more thoughts later today.

Just remember you're not bad if you eat something someone has labeled as 'bad'. The food is 'bad'.

Take responsibility. As I say, This is Your Rodeo! No one else is in charge but you. You are amazing and deserve to feel good about you!

If your weight is creeping up then it's likely just small changes would have it creep back down again.

No diets. No punishments. No guilt.

Just spend 2 weeks honestly and scrupulously tracking everything you eat. That's it.

At the end of 2 weeks, review your diary. I'm guessing there will be loads of easy ways to cut out just a few cals at a time. One less coffee a day. Perhaps half the portion of cream on your apple pie. Maybe skip the crisps with a lunchtime sandwich. Don't pick at foods while cooking. Maybe water instead of juice a few times a week. Or one less biscuit with a cup of tea.

Pick 2-3 things and change them.

Log for another 2 weeks and then repeat the process, Keep doing it until you are seeing a slow but steady weight loss. An easy 1/2 week is always going to be better than a hard 2lbs a week - just because you're so much more likely to keep with it.
