Anyone want to sort their shit out?

I'm starting a diet today. So fed up with looking like this and being uncomfortable and self conscious all of the fine. I hate how I look so I need to change things.

Would anyone like to join me?

Yes me please @nyxie

I started on Monday as was doing ok with my goal of 10,000 steps and sticking to 1500 cals or there abouts but today I have plugged out big time. I'm going to try and get back on track.
How much weight do you want to lose? I want to lose a stone.

Hi Nyxie, I was going to start on Monday but I'm so stuffed I think I'll bring it forward and start tomorrow. I want to lose a stone too, Rory. I've got a meal plan, eating the same thing daily for a month just to keep it simple. After that I'll see where I'm at and relax the rules a bit if I can, but I'm hoping to push on through 4 weeks to get things started.

I’d love to join in. I started a diet/fitness group in March but it all went online and I missed the face to face classes. Now back doing them but need to cut down on food. Half a large bar of fruit and nut when I got home from work didn’t help. Going to try My Fitness Pal logging and simple diet plan. Hubby needs to lose a stone too.

Morning, thanks for joining me. I'm glad that I am not on my own.

I actually forgot to weigh myself yesterday so I shall do it in a bit and report back.

Good luck!

I need to sort my shit out but have a lot to lose and actually never weigh myself.
I have cycled twice this week for the first time in 20 years.
I actually don't know what is the right way to lose weight anymore everything just feels so conflicting.

Today is day 1 for me. I'm treating this month like a dry January (which I did this year for the first time) and I'm just going to tick off the days.

Hi @dudsville and @chocolatespiders

Ok I have weighed myself and I am 11st 12 1/2lbs. This is the fattest that I have ever been. I'm fairly short, 5'4 so the weight is mainly on my belly and back side.

Well done nyxie. How'd you get to this position and what methods are you going to use to diet?

I'm not at my heaviest, that was a few years back, but I'd crept back up during covid and I'm uncomfortable adsene unhappy work my body now. I'm 11 st 10 now.

@dudsville I got to this weight by being a greedy cow. I'm so addicted to chocolate and biscuits. My plan is to choose healthier options and much smaller portion size.

I don't seem to have a cut off point where chocolate is concerned. I can just eat and eat and I never seem to feel sick from it. I end up disgusted with myself most evenings.

That's the old me though 😁

I'm this way with savory things. Cover it in spices and fat and I'll devour it! This is paired with a deep dislike for actual exercise.

Earlier in the pandemic I focused and lost a stone. I bought scales so that I would weigh daily to monitor that I wasn't gaining it back. I'm now going to focus just on this stone and then will probably take another break and just maintain it for a bit. I hate dieting so much!

I forgot, I'm also too fond of very cold wine and lager. I've been working on that one.

@dudsville I can take or leave savoury food, but if it's sweet, I will scoff it all.

Maybe no one's going to check back in... I just wanted a place to say that I laughed today because I gained, GAINED, a couple of pounds. Angry I had just watched a silly programme about a woman facing great adversity and thought that what I needed might be powerful theme music!

Oh dear.

I need to sort my shit out. I've been dieting for what feels like forever, i was trying to go from a 16 to a 14 but now I'm struggling to get in to my size 16 Jeans! I've decided that dieting is obviously the cause of my weight gain and am now back on the chocolate

Hello! I will join you, if that's ok.

I'm...fat! Don't know my weight, as my scales don't work. But I'm definitely overweight and need to get my shit together asap. I do know my dress size and I am a tall size 16-18. I'd like to get down to a 12-14.

I am starting low carb tomorrow. Nothing drastic; I won't be avoiding tomatoes and carrots for example, but no pasta, bread, rice, pulses, spuds, bread, sweet things, sugar, limited fruit.

@dudsville have you considered the karate kid theme or pretty much anything from rocky? I find that cheesy 80s help me exercise. You could put one on and montage your way through a workout.

Report
dudsville · 14/09/2020 07:20

Owly, the idea of montaging my way through anything has made me chuckle!

I need a voice over in that deep movie preview prelude, "she faced the greatest adversity known to her kind. Her scales were cruel. The food was delicious. Her clothes taunted her. Would she prevail? Could she overcome her partner offering her biscuits?" Then a shot of me doing boxing moves to Rocky theme tune... (I haven't seen the Cobra Kai thing yet!).

Hi Starchy, this thread hasn't found its legs yet but the more the merrier! I'm just calorie counting adsene this is only day 3 for me. I'm doing a 1300 to 1500 daily intake and for a 4 week period I'm just eating the same stuff, just so I don't get taken by variations or confused along the way. After the 4 weeks I'll see where things stand and review my plan.

Can I join? I’m 10 days in and have lost 4lbs. No carbs and really just lean protein and non starchy veg. And berries.

Lots of water and green/herbal tea. No alcohol.

It’s horrible, but it’s working, and that spurs me on. I keep imagining how amazing I will look by Christmas this year Smile

Can I join? Just weighed myself and am 12st 7lbs this is the heaviest I've been since pregnancy and am absolutely disgusted with myself, have been trying to lose weight and start off good then give in to cravings! No more now hoping this group can spur me on ! I start today!

Thank you for the welcome OP Smile!

@PatsyPet, well done! That does sound hard going, but clearly is working.

I'm going for lower carb, higher fat type thing, so not necessarily avoiding dairy or protein with some fat, but otherwise similar. Think I'll also do no alcohol on school nights.

Good luck today everyone!

Hi, I'd like to join, if that's ok.

I have a stone to lose, to get back to a healthier weight. I definitely need to get my shit together.

I've tried most diets going, but usually cave in by day 3. So will be cutting out snacks and trying to be more mindful this week and see how things go.

Good luck everyone. Smile

Yes please!!

Decided not to do a diet as such but planning cut out as much crap as I can and eat more plants and fruit.

Cleaning the house from top to toe today for exercise.

@winterisstillcoming I'm trying a plant based diet and found some lovely vegan recipes online that are healthy and full of flavour.
Hopefully this thread keeps going
