1st September plus it's Monday, I'm starting my diet today

I'm fed up with faffing about trying to lose weight. Every day I start a diet and every day I fail. I am getting bigger and bigger. I have no clothes that fit me. I feel and look a mess.

I am starting today and would love some company.

Fuck it, just realised it's Tuesday not Monday!

I'll join you. I need to lose a ton of weight. I had today earmarked to start - I'm going to do the fast 800 and see how I get on with that. Good luck!

Morning @Bokky thanks for joining. I need to lose about 3st.

Not sure my plan but I'm stopping all the chocolate and cake and will probably start off at 1200 calories per day.

Just about to shower and weigh myself.

I'll join too if I may? I'm back at the gym but need to cut down on the wine and make better food choices.

@KatherineJaneway well done at getting back to the gym. I will be walking the dog lots to start off.

I have around 5st to lose 😱. I start back at work this week (I'm a teacher) and aside from staff room cakes, I find it much easier to do when I'm at work as I can only eat what I take in with me. First stop Christmas and I'm aiming for 1.5 - 2st on the fast 800.
DH has lost 3.5st over lockdown and looks amazing. That's spurring me on.
We can do this 👊🏻

I lost two stone in about 3 months last year by low carbing. It's the only way of eating where I've managed to keep the weight off and it's relatively painless once you get over the initial sugar cravings!

I'll join you too. Which will be about the third time I've supposedly started a diet this year, but with the routine off going back to school etc. I'm hoping this time I can stick to it.

I'm calorie counting - I've tried low carb and it's just not for me, so hoping sticking to 1,200 calories a day will work instead. Starting weight is somewhere around 11.1 but need to wait for DH to finish in the shower before I can check!

Hi
I'm not starting today as I've been doing it since May but I wanted to jump in and give some advice about calories
Before you choose an arbitrary number of calories decide what you actually want to achieve. Every time I've lost weight before I've gained it back and more because I've seen losing weight as 'dieting' and overeating as 'normal'
This time I've decided I am never going back. I've lost 18lbs so far in 15 weeks and never aimed for more than 1lb a week. I increased my exercise in a way that I enjoy (HIIT classes and cycling) and worked out my TDEE to choose a calorie allowance. My TDEE is quite high partly because I'm heavy and also because I exercise regularly and hit 10000 steps a day so I reduced my calories to 2000 a day (average 500 a day deficit). This way I can have the odd day or weekend of not tracking and it doesn't matter but I'm trying very hard not to overeat on those days - ie stick to roughly 2500 a day as that's how much I burn.
I really think if you cut down to 1200 you'll be hungry and feel like you're 'dieting' which isn't a good mindset to avoid falling off the wagon or regaining it after.
Last week I ate two magnum ice creams in a day and still came in under calories Grin I still had 3 good meals as well. I appreciate you may not be able to go up to 2000 but do work out your TDEE so you can lose weight eating the food you usually eat and like to eat. It will make a huge difference to keeping it off.

I've just done two hours of intense housework. I'm sweating. That's got to count as exercise, right?

Get a heart rate monitor and you'll see. Personally when I'm rushing around the house it doesn't ping my Fitbit as exercise but will often get me some active minutes (10 minutes and above without stopping) but it's not likely to burn many extra calories tbh

I would love to join in too, I have so much to lose! 5stone I have had so many false starts recently it’s disheartening, but since it’s Monday and the 1st I’m going to give it another go.

Problem is, my TDEE is pretty low - I'm a short arse and sit at a desk all day. So while 1,200 might sound like a very low arbitrary number, I think it's about right for me. Sadly I think I do need to adjust my mindset of what a reasonable days food is - I can eat pretty well within that, but it means making sensible choices with only the occasional treat. And not wine, snacks and too many massive bowls of pasta, which has got me to where I am!

I'll join you. I have lost 11 pounds since May but stalled because everyone I know has a birthday in August including me. I still have a massive birthday cake to finish off so I'm eating that for lunch - healthy.

Yeah that does suck but are you able to increase your TDEE through exercise?

Joining too please. Any thread where we don't know what day it is sounds like the one for me!
Have joined the gym. Paid for 3 months so I'll feel obliged to go. Bit embarrassed at how sore my muscles are after my intro session!
4 stone to lose ideally but would be happy with 3. Trying to stick to 1400 cals per day and have stopped drinking for this month. I had a very unhealthy lockdown so it's time to get real. Fed up with my thin clothes looking at me whenever I open the wardrobe.

Thanks for joining me, it's nice having the company.

Day one done, I'm hungry and have gone to bed to stop me stuffing my face in front of the tv.

Today I have cleaned the house from top to bottom, and I took the dog out for a walk, only 45 minutes but that's 45 minutes more than usual.

Hope that you are all doing ok and have been good on the food front.

Well, I stuck to my calories yesterday, so app good so far (after a whole day!). And managed to avoid snacking which is a big win in my eyes.

Suspect I'll be okay until Friday, and then the temptation of takeaway and wine will kick in, but let's see!

Ooh I'll join, been on a couple of these threads before and really appreciate being accountable. I am in a similar position to @ohnomesandwiches in that I lost 12lbs earlier on in lockdown, but then I lost motivation and went on holiday and I've done well to hover about the same mark ever since.
My clothes don't fit and I better not be called back into the office any time soon as I'll be wearing pj's at this rate.
I will weigh tomorrow as I'm in quite a good mood today and don't want to cloud it

Having done MFP for a while now I feel like I have a better idea of what 1400 calories is, though maybe should o back to logging to be on the safe side.

I'm only 5 foot 2 but I feel it's so much easier to stick to 1400 than 1200.

This morning I weighed 9 stone 13. Hoping I cam get done to 9 stone 11 by the end of next week.

Went to the gym before work today so feeling smug even if my legs hurt! Will have an indulgent bath later as a reward. Had a seriously filling butternut squash soup for lunch, so planning something light tonight. I have a giant cauli but am trying to move away from cauliflower cheese!
