Mosley's lockdown diet... week 3 and stalled already!!??

I'm on under 1000 cals a day, sometimes a fair bit under, and I'm low carbing under 20g carbs a day. I lost 8lb first week which was water I'm sure (tummy deflated nicely Smile) and so clothes are fitting better which is nice. But since then I have lost zilch. Not an ounce. A few days ago scales said I'd lost 3lbs over night and I got all excited. Next day scales said it was back again Shock I know it's early days but really?? Not a single tiny lb since the first week? Can anyone please just reassure me it will happen if I keep on going? Feeling a bit dispirited Sad

When I did Exante diet (meal replacement plan with 600 cal a day) quite similar to this plan people would often stall in week 2 and 3, then weight loss restarted. So if you keep going the weight will come off.
I am against this type of diet now though as I found I ended up with some problems and regained my weight. To be honest I would switch to a normal low carb diet right away, but if you do want to keep going a bit longer don't do it too long and when you come off it be careful as that is the time you will often have problems.

Thanks ketopenguin. What is a normal keto diet? More calories? Do you mind me asking what problems you had? I'd rather avoid problems if possible!

I was on Exante for about 6 months and I lost 5 stone. After the diet I came off it in a bad way as we went on holidays and I didn't do any sort of controlled eating. My plan was to go into about 1200 cals a day after the holiday and have a real food meal plus the meal replacement. So this is why I say don't do it for so long and be careful when you come off the plan.

My main problem was my appetite was really increased as soon as I upped my calories and carbs. I felt like I just had to eat and really intense hunger. I didn't used to have any problems with bingeing before I did the diet but I would go on binges when I ate till I was absolutely stuffed. Ever since I was trying to restart dieting either on Exante or another diet I tried several different plans but couldn't stick to anything. I ended up putting back all the weight I lost plus an extra stone. Recently I started on keto and this is the first time I have been able to stick to something long enough to lose weight but I am losing quite slowly so I do wonder if the original diet could have slowed my metabolism, which I believe can happen after a strict diet even if you have regained the weight.

On a normal keto diet you keep your carbs below 20g protein moderate and high fat you can either count calories but you would not go very low calorie like on the MM plan or some just count carbs and make sure they have plenty of fat. Most people who count their macros use some kind of tracker app. There are also other low carb plans where you have more carbs but still low and plans where you don't count carbs but stick to food that is known to be very low carb like the MN bootcamp.

Thanks for all the info keto. I do sort of have a plan for coming off ...I can see me staying lowish carb forever. I used to be hungry all the time even when eating loads, I used to crave sweet and carby stuff, and I used to get an awful mid afternoon slump that was really quite debilitating -these issues have melted away since low carbing. Now just got to wait for the fat to melt away too. Being so low on calories isn't especially deliberate - I just have a very reduced appetite now. Good luck with your efforts, I hope it works for both of us!

I’m the same! I lost 7lbs in the first week and zilch for 10 days now. Actually, I lie...I’ve lost 0.5lbs in 10 days. I feel like packing it in...800 cals per day is hard going, I’m exhausted and I can lose 0.5lb a week eating more than 800 cals per day.

Just be aware that your appetite can come back with a vengeance when you start eating carbs and increased calories and it can be hard to get it under control. When I was on Exante I found it ok to stick to and thought it would be easy to maintain my weight after the diet when I could eat more. It's a strange thing but I think they are researching why people often regain weight after losing it as it happens so often.

You will have lost a lot of water in the first week then more fat in the subsequent weeks so that the scales levelled out as the water levels went back up.
