A stone to lose, anyone else?

I know there are similar threads but it can be hard to join mid-way through! Anyone else want to lose a stone and feeling determined? I exercise a lot anyhow so it's my food habits I need to work on. I am going to monitor my calories via MyFitnessPal and try to have no cards post-breakfast. I've weighed myself today but I think my weigh in day will be Friday. Would love company to keep me motivated!

I'm in. What type of exercises do you do??

@ViewsAreMine I just run a good bit- 6-10k 3 or 4 times a week. I do think I should do some weight training or similar but I find running good for my mood so I'd find it hard to stop. But running doesn't really seem to help my weight! What are you going to do to try to lose your stone?

I have about a stone to lose as well... lost it doing low carb bootcamp a little while ago, but then went to stay with family and put almost all of it back on again Sad. Like you I exercise, but the carbs need to go! Starting tomorrow, no breakfast, 2 meals and 1 snack a day, low carb, around 1000 cal a day.

Good luck @LostaraYil , let us know how you get on today. Are you going to weigh yourself or just focus on feeling better and clothes fitting better? For me carbs, chocolate (and wine) are my downfalls.

Earlier in the year I needed to lose 2 stone. I lost 1, then there was was a planned month of festivities, which I knew I'd stop dieting for, and i was good and enjoyed myself AND didn't put any weight back on, but now I'm really struggling to restart the diet. Annoying because if i had i would have been done by the end of September. Grrr. My only exercise is walking but may i join?

Can I join? Due to lockdown I've been eating and drinking whatever I want and sometimes not leaving the house for days at a time. I want to lose about 1.5-2 stone. I started properly on Monday. I'm calorie counting on MFP and trying to add in little habits so walking every day, eating between 7am and 9pm (will make this window shorter over time to get more like intermittent fasting), having 2 alcohol free days a week (will increase this over time too).

Hi 👋 Can I join too? I have needed to shift a stone (or more likely just under) for basically the last 10 years! Im currently 9st 11. Not sure on what approach to take really, I've never succeeded with dieting. I'm hoping joining this will keep me accountable. Maybe something like 5:2??

I need to lose 1.5-2 stone in order to fit back in to my clothes. Having to wear DPs clothes at the moment and cant afford new. I'm 71kg and 5ft5.

Using Samsung Health app to track calories, my activity levels and my daily step count. Has lots of other handy features on there too.

I'm also weighing my food to get an accurate picture of my calorie consumption per day.

Anyone else eating healthy most meals and having the odd bit of junk (albeit less)?

I had been and Jerry's this morning (weighed of course) came in at 200 cals. There wasn't much in the bowl but I've got a healthy lunch lined up.

beabettermum I am trying to mostly eat healthy but saving any 'spare' calories for an evening drink or biscuit because that's when I find it hardest to say no! Plus if I have my snacks early I feel sad that I don't have any left to look forward to 😆

I need to lose 10lb/stone as well. I exercise loads and my problem is the wine and crisps downward spiral...

In the day I am very happy to just eat salads, dahl, whatever is sensible, but it's those pesky crisps.

I'm not bothered about being really skinny, but I have a serious gut, which is not a good look.

Submariner · 13/08/2020 18:41

Oh yes random that is exactly my downfall. Come 5pm I can sit at the kitchen table with a bottle of wine and eat a day's calories in crisps/nuts/olives and on and on...

Gutting isn't it, Submariner? I just feel as though I deserve something nice at that point, that's the hard thing to break

Yes, that is exactly it, and especially with working from home, it becomes so hard to mark the end of the day. I feel at a bit of a loose end if I don't do it.

Maybe mix up your running. Try having faster runs and longer slower runs. And squeeze in two weight based exercise routines in a week maybe?

Yes! I'd love to join you! I also saw the 'stone to loose thread' but like you say it can be hard to start halfway.

I weighed myself on Monday and I was 13 stone 1.5lbs. I would be delighted to be 12 stone. My problem is I'm moving house at the moment, so I'm not really sure what my diet method should be. Usually I do Slimming World, but there's too much prep and organisation involved in that for me right now. I think I'll just generally try to cut back.

It's so tough to lose that last stubborn stone!

I'm just coming towards the end of losing mine (12lbs lost since June) I wasn't overweight as such but a few lbs had crept on over the beginning of lockdown (gin, homebaked cake and crisps...) and I felt like shit!

What worked for me was tracking every calorie eating between 900-1400kcals a day split into three regular meals with no snacks: 8am, 12 noon and 5pm. And only drinking water.

My exercise schedule includes weight and strength training 25 mins every morning, 6 days a week, running 20km a week and walking 6k a day.

I've never felt better! I was a size 10-12 before but a very comfy size 8 now, and looking toned! It's quite a shock! So much more energy now too. Just the last few lbs to go. :)

Yes I'm the same as the OP in that I exercise a lot but need to adjust some food habits. I eat generally healthy but I think portion size has crept up and I have been eating too much naughty food. Me and my husband both love eating far too much and dont help each other in that respect!

My baby is now 11 months old and I was shocked when I weighed myself a few weeks ago as I dont have scales at home. I am lucky as i tend to put weight more round my hips and bum not belly but this gives me less motivation to loose it. I need to loose a stone or ideally 1.5 stone and drop back to at least size 12 (currently I am a 14 which I havent been for 18 years!)

After not being able to breastfeed I was expressing for 10 months and used that as a bit of an excuse to be less careful about eating as I didnt want to affect milk production if I dieted. No excuses now though!

Can I join too please? I’ve also put on about a stone since the beginning of the year and really want it gone - I feel I have an extra tire round my middle!!! My downfall is alcohol and crisps, similar to Submariner I can just sit down at 5pm after a day WFH and inhale my days’ calories in gin and kettle chips.....

I’m usually pretty active but gyms are closed here (I’m in Hong Kong) so I’m having to rely on running which is brutal in the heat.... ah well, I’ll get used to it!

Shedtheload · 15/08/2020 06:27

Well I am not quite in the 11s yet but I am now in the 160s for pounds, so that is exciting, given that I started out in the 200s. And according to my body composition scales (that may or may not be accurate), my body fat percentage is now in the ‘acceptable’ range, albeit right at the top of it). Maybe the weight training is paying off.

Could I join please.....except can I start on Thursday when I'm back from a few days in Greece? Currently have about 10lb to lose but when I get home from this all inclusive it will definitely be about 1.5 stones!

I need to shift it. I've tried thing on from my holiday wardrobe that looked great last summer which now, definitely do not!

A little accountability on this thread would be great. I'm think 1200 Cals per day logged on mfp

I need to lose a stone as had a baby 12 weeks ago and my belly and backside have not recovered. I was 8stone 2lb before first and then was 8st 5 from then until I fell pregnant this time.

I am not sure what's best yet as am breastfeeding and not sure if I am just being impatient

@Raindancer411 congratulations on your new baby! I think you shouldn't put pressure on yourself yet, your baby is still so young! You will get there. My youngest is almost 2 so I have no excuse!
