Thanks for the new thread! In August, I'm going to check in. I'm going to exercise and I'm going to drink more water. And tonight I'm going to make a little dream board for my bullet journal to try to keep myself on track.

Great! Thanks for starting the thread cricketmum84. My goal is to lose 3 kg. Currently feeling a bit knackered from the heat yesterday and I have some PMT bloating that has made me gain a pound this morning. In the past, I would always binge when my period was due but the past few days I’ve just tried to eat a few hundred extra calories a day to keep my hunger at bay. Plus I know that once my period starts, the water weight will go. Plus I find the first two weeks after my period that it’s easy to stick to my diet and the weight seems to come off quicker so I am looking forward to that!

Hello! I am a returner (and sometimes a lurker!). Did well in August last year, but middle age, greediness and then Covid have undone it all! I am checking in today as its the 1st, but will have no scales till Friday- however I know I am around 67kg and I swore I would never go over 63 again! Aiming for super slow but sustainable loss, so more like 3lb than 3kg in August - spent July managing to stop gaining at least!

Thank you @cricketmum84 - you have carried on doing amazingly since I was here last, and still inspiring others! I should never have dropped off!

Hi all just checking in. I will post stats on Monday as I'm staying with family this week. I am toying with the idea of trying intermittent fasting but I think I'll stick with calorie counting and just try harder. I have 2 yoga classes, a Pilates class and i plan to go swimming next week too so trying to up the exercise.

Morning all!

Here’s a very long message of all my stats

Highest weight 13 stone 10
Height 5ft 4 / 5 ft 5

Starting weight (20/04/2020) : 12 stone 9.7

Current weight: 10 stone 3.5 (32lb lost)
Goal weight: 9 stone 7 (and then I’ll reassess)

Body fat 27.3% which is apparently in the normal range and I’m going to try and find old weight slips that way what it was when I was bigger.

Last month I got within a healthy BMI for the first time ever. I’m now trying to get to 9 st 7 and reduce body fat. I’ve no idea what’s a realistic aim for body fat reduction because I’ve never done it before so going to track it this month and maybe make a target next month. 7lb loss this month will take me to 9 st 10.5 which 4 months ago seems like a ridiculous idea!

I’m calorie counting using MFP. I need to stick to under 1400 and most days eat between 1000 & 1200 but eat the full 1400 if I want. I weigh every day so that I know how my body varies but I only take real note of my Monday weigh in.

I have ARFID which means my diet is a lot of bread and potatoes so calorie counting works for me.
I’ve not been resisting treats and I can se how my mindset has changed now to looking at a week overall rather than each day as a stand-alone.

It’s also helping me to remember that it takes 3000 a additional calories to gain a pound. I’m “on it” Sunday to Friday and then easing up on myself on a Saturday if I’m going for drinks etc (me and my friends are not a 2 glass of wine type group ha).

Good luck everyone!

Hi, can't believe it's August already!

@Shedtheload the heat makes us retain water too so I'm avoiding the scales this weekend.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Morning all! Gosh August already! Hope we are all ready and raring to go!

I think I'm going to go against my usual twice weekly weigh in this month and will weigh every day and log on mfp. I kinda think it would be interesting to see it plotted and where my fluctuations happen vs what I have eaten (and drunk) lol.

Stats for me are:
Starting weight (Xmas 2018): 25st 2lbs (size 24-26)
Current weight: 17st 3lbs (was so close to that target for July!) size 16
Loss so far: 7st 13lbs

Target for August: biiiiiiig push and I would like 10 off this month to make up for the smaller loss in July to take me down to 16.5.

I still haven't defined a target weight. I think I would be happy as a size 12 but I have no idea what weight I would need to be for that as it's been a verrrrrry long time since I fitted into anything below a 16.

@JessJonesJumps I want to see your dream board! I wonder if I might find that useful too.

I'm also feeling the bloat today @Shedtheload glad it's cooled down a bit so I can get rid of some of this water retention!

Welcome back @Tanaqui and thank you :)

Sounds like a plan @NerrSnerr! Unfortunately no swimming for me as I'm in one of the new lockdown areas not happy!!

You have done so well @WhatALearningCurve! And you and your friends sound like my kinda people 😂

Have a lovely sunny Saturday!

@cricketmum84 I'd say your welcome anytime but I live in Manchester so my burgeoning social life has just taken a massive nose dive ha.

Mumsnet seems to have a lot of people who say "I drink 1 glass of wine a week" and all I can ever think is "what do you do with the rest of the bottle?!" (Not judgement - amazed at the will power!

@WhatALearningCurve yep I'm Bradford so all plans right out the window!

And yes anyone who has more than one glass of a week needs to review their alcohol intake and join AA immediately.

Happy August everyone! Hoping to lose 4kg this month but I’d be happy with 3 really.

SW (June 1st): 120.2kg
CW: 111.3kg
GW: 70kg

I’ve been calorie counting using Noom which seems to be working so far but I started back at work from furlough in July and that has definitely hampered motivation and progress. Plus we’re just putting our house on the market so lots going on to distract me from exercise/cause stress eating.

Love seeing everyone’s stats, some amazing, impressive achievements! Very inspiring!

Oops forgot plan for today!
B - grapefruit salad
L - 2 slices leftover vegetable pizza
D - some sort of salad with avocado dressed with lime and chilli :)

Protein is a bit low according to mfp so I could do with adding in some vegan protein somewhere. Maybe some puy lentils with the salad- I'm a bit rubbish with protein!

I love the start of the threads, its so nice to see everyone's progress and targets Smile

Here's mine:
Start weight (27/01/20) - 15st5
Current weight (30/07/20) - 11st7

Total loss = 54lbs
July loss = 5lbs

August target = hopefully 8lbs so I get into the 10s for the first time in years! But realistically, I'll be happy with another 5lb. My body is consistently losing around this amount eaxh month and it all adds up.

Todays plan
Brunch : bacon, eggs and cheese
Dinner : TBC, DD and her BF are here but need to be good as we are out for dinner tomorrow.

Good luck for August everyone!

As suspected, after all the fluctuating, I actually put on 1.4lbs in July and am back into the 12s Angry. This is obviously the point where I usually slip but instead I'm going to refocus.
SW Jan 2020: 13 st 7.8lbs
CW: 12 st 0.4lbs
Aim for Aug 2020: 11st 10lbs

Morning everyone!

Thanks @cricketmum84 for the lovely new thread and I agree with @GetTheStartyParted that it’s lovely to see the stats so we can see how we have all done and remind us how well we’ve done so far ( especially if like me July wasn’t great Blush)
Starting weight Jan 2019 21st 11.5
Current weight 15 at 3.25
Total lost 6st 8.25

Aim for this month is 8lbs because then I would have lost 100lbs - it’s going to be tough.

My gym has reopened but I am not going as my dad will be having chemo next week so don’t want to take any risks. I want to start doing some gentle weight training on top of my walking as I am flabby as well as unfit!as
Any recommendations for free online workouts that a) don’t need any kit & b) won’t leave me crippled for 3 days.... don’t think I am up to shred yetGrin

Morning everyone, thanks for the new thread @cricketmum84

Starting weight: 11st 10 (April)
Current weight: 9st 10 (today)
Loss for July: 7lbs

Goal for August: not sure as weight loss has slowed at points so just as much as I can.

Great way to start a thread by updating stats - it really is amazing to see how far people can go in a few months.

My stats are:
SW 1/1/20 - 16st 3lb, dress size 20
CW 1/8/20 - 12st 4.5lb, dress size 14
GW - 11st then review
Target for August - 5lbs to get me into the 11s. Anything over that would be a bonus, anything under means it wasn't meant to be this time but will happen if I stick at it Wink

Not touching scales for a few days, it is ds baking day and there are caramel slices and lemon & honey biscuits on the menu.

Good luck everyone for August!

Marking my place as I don't want to lose you. Not currently on any kind of weight loss plan as I have a number of things happening in other parts of my life. Have STS through July so feel confident /hopeful that when I get back to it I will be okay.
Some fantastic losses and focus here so well done everyone. Star

So nice to read of everyone's successes. Sadly, I failed to reach my one year target of losing 52lbs, only manage 51.4! Still, onwards and downwards. Here's my stats:

SW (01 Aug 2019) 15st 12.4lbs
CW (01 Aug 2020) 12st 3lbs
GW (01 Jan 2021) 10st 7.4lbs and then evaluate
Target for August - get into the 11s, a place I haven't been for many years.
Thanks to @Onesmallstep67 for letting us know that it's 21 weeks to Christmas so I'm aiming to lose slightly over 1lb per week until then.
Having a day off from the plan today, but I'll be back on it tomorrow.
Good luck and big losses to all of us for August.

Evening all. Sorry for being AWOL and as usual very late to the August party. Thanks @Cricketmum84 for another new thread and waving to everybody else old and new. Well done on all the fabulous losses and hugs to all my mates from the naughty step. looking straight at you my soulmate @JessJonesJumps!
My total loss for July was wait for it - one whole pound. So I'm now 11st 11.75lbs. To be honest I'm quite proud not to have gained given the amount of stress I've been under lately. Goal for August is 11st 8lbs which I think will be my final goal weight. We shall see!
Not expecting a great week - hope this won't be too outing but I'm heavily involved in a wider family complicated safeguarding issue [ I cop all this kind of thing within the family on account of my profession]. Also I have the meeting with the titslammer on Thursday which is bound to lead directly back to the naughty step via the toaster. Hey ho - onwards and downwards we go. Have a great weekend all.

@recklessgran you are my inspiration! You managed to stay in the 11s - hurrah! Especially when you've had such a stressful time. Maybe this month I'll be able to join you there for longer than a week Grin

Starting weight (24/06/20) 79.5kg/12 stone 7lb
Current weight (29/07/20) 72.6kg/11 stone 6lb
Goal weight 60 kg/9 stone 7lb

Lost 5kg/11lb in July. Don’t think I’ll do that in August but 3kg would be good Smile

So inspiring to read all your losses! @Ecci, I dont think you can call that a failure, it is an outstanding achievement!

@MirandaWest (love those books), and @WhatALearningCurve, my ideal goal would be 9st7 too, but I would happily settle for 9st10. You have done so well!

Report
Shedtheload · 02/08/2020 09:32

@Ecci we’re starting from the same weight this month! My goal is also to get into the 11s. It’s been a while since I saw that number on the scale. Can’t wait. My goal weight is actually 11 and a half stone which might seem high to some but I have quite a large frame. I would be happy to lose a little bit more after that but I’m not going to diet to do it and I don’t mind if it takes months or even years.
Eating plan for today:
B - protein smoothie
L - omelette, prawn and avocado salad, Greek yoghurt with strawberries
D - salmon with potato salad
