Dress size v BMI

Purely out of curiosity, what dress size are you or do you think you will be when you're at the top of your healthy BMI range? (And middle and bottom if you know).
I'm 5'8"
BMI 25 = size 12/14
BMI 22 -= size 8
BMI 19 = size 4 (I'm guessing - never gonna happen!)

My bmi is 26.1 (just over healthy) and I'm a 10, sometimes a 12 in tops

It was 22 and I was an 8 top and bottom

19.. Well I would probably be dead but if anyone is dressing me I'd probably be a size 4-6

I seem to stay in a size 12 forever!

I fitted in my size 12 jeans when I was BMI of 26 and I’m only just fitting into my size 10s now at a BMI of 22.

I’m a size 8 when I’m approaching a BMI of 19/18 but by then my top half is looking skeletal and gross.

Top half changes more; that’s a size 12 at 26, 10 at 24 and now coming to an 8.

I’m always a 14. BMI is hovering at 30 (so yes, technically obese and I will get it down) but still a 14.

Before I had the children my BMI was about 25 and I was still a 14.

BMI 24.9 and short - dress size 12 in grown-up shops or 14 in young people’s shops.

Confused How is that possible? You should give yourself to medical science. Smile

@ArriettyJones vanity and inconsistent sizing across stores.

Dress sizes are not an accurate measure of anything. I can be three different sizes at any given weight. Focus on the numbers on the scales.

That’s the opposite, though.

I’m rather envious of @SellFridges ‘s ability to wear the same clothes despite weight fluctuations. That must make life much easier.

5 foot 2. Currently BMI 24 and size 10 - 12 trousers, size 8 -10 tops. If I get down to BMI 22 I'll go down half a size.

I think it’s because BMI is a bit bollocks. We should really focus on waist measurements as a health sign I think.

I am naturally quite curvy - large boobs which don’t shift if I lose weight, and broad hips. As I’m heavier right now I’m also carrying weight on my stomach. So it doesn’t really affect my size as such.

I’m also not convinced by vanity sizing - I buy (or did until the pandemic sent them bust) most of my clothes from Oasis and Warehouse. I don’t think they’ve got noticeably bigger over the last decade. Now I buy from Hush and Oliver Bonas.

BMI 21.3 - Size 10/12 - More 10 on top, 12 on the bottom
BMI 18/19 - Size 8/10 - But top half looks very scrawny

Aiming for BMI 20, but note sure I'll ever get there, keep going, was 22. something at the beginning of the year.

I'm 5'5" and 11 stone 2 lbs

BMI 26 = dress size 12/14 (from mid 30's to age 40 ie now, post kids basically)
BMI 22 = dress size 10 (from around age 28 to mid 30's, again gradually rose as I entered secure relationships, sedentary jobs etc)
BMI 19 = dress size 8 (from around age 20 to 28 although crept up gradually)

However clothes sizes vary so much from shop to shop. I remember buying some Jeans in H&M as a very slim 22 year old which were a size 14 whereas all my other clothes were 8 and occasionally 6. Similarly, I very occasionally fit in a 10 now which I know is vanity sizing.

Currently wearing a pair of size 16 jeans which are a bit baggy round the waist. I'm 5'7. And currently have a BMI of 33...

European sizes are a bit more accurate in my experience, I'm a 46 in those!

Nah, I stay in some sizes a long time too - from a bmi of 26 through to 20 I’m a size 12

My conclusion is that I’d really struggle to get under a 12, so at 26 I’m just into a 12 and then just get a less fat 12 as I lose weight. But my hips and shoulders stay a 12.

I’m a 14 for quite a lot longer than I’d expect too.

I mean I’d blame random sizes... but it’s literally the same jeans and stuff, so...
