Team RH for weightloss?

Upsidedownrightnow · 18/06/2020 21:49

Have you used them? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I am currently doing 5:2 and today has been such a hard day and I feel like only being allowed 500cals today is making my mood very low.

I would love to hear if you tried team RH and what you think?

I only have 1 stone to loose but it seems so difficult right now, I know team rh is about sustainable weight loss but i need to be loosing minium 1pound per week or else i get discouraged.

I know it's not what you asked about but I switched from 5:2 to a different type of fasting 18:6 and I find it much easier. I eat 2 portion controlled meals of pretty much what I want over a 6 hour window 12pm to 6, no snacking or treats but my cravings for them have reduced a lot.

Thank you for your reply, I tried 16:8 before for 2 weeks and I didn't lose any weight atall.

I have lost weight this week with 5:2 but i'm just finding the fasting so difficult right now.

I’m on team RH and love it. Weighing my food and tracking it is second nature now but I know that is not for everyone. Let me know if you have any questions.

Lurked for two years but joined 4 weeks ago. Have done 10000-11000 steps a day, no work outs yet, tracked and met my macro targets, am eating more calories than I thought possible and am 8.5lbs lighter today! I have another 1.5 stone to go.

Isn't RH fitness the one where you have to do 15000 steps a day?

Can someone give a general overview of the approach please?

Couldn't work it out from the website.

I'm doing it. You don't have to do 15000 steps.

They set you calories, protein and fibre targets based on current weight etc... and activity levels - 15000 steps is recommended but you can put less.

The app is linked to MFP so you can log your food.

Basically, if you're concentrating on hitting the protein and fibre you fill yourself up well within the calorie allowance, don't feel hungry and usually have a bit left over for a treat.

It does work if you stick to it. I'm not sticking to it very well but I can see that I could with a bit more willpower.

It can be a bit cult-like and the guy who set it up is quite in your face but you can take or leave that aspect, I just use the app and keep an eye on the fb for food ideas.

Is he as shouty and unhinged as rebelfit Liam guy? Or the other one - James something? I find that so tiresome.

He is quite blunt and swears, I don't find it particularly unpleasant or offputting, but I also don't find it helpful so don't bother with his videos. A lot of members love them though.

I've just read through more and the minimum subscription term is 12 months. So if you decided after a couple of months it wasn't for you, you're locked in regardless for the entire year

@MintyJones Think that must be new as I joined on a monthly plan. Still pretty good value for money when I think about how much I have frittered away on WW, juice plans, slimming world, bodycoach etc, etc.

In my opinion you can get as immersed in it as you want. You can join, watch the videos to get yourself started then just crack on with it. Or you can live and breathe it, join all the workouts and walkie talkies. It is very flexible like that.

Oh you can still pay just £6.99 a month. However, if you read the small print, he makes that very clear you're tied in for a year

MintyJones · 22/06/2020 09:24

And I can't think of anything else of it's ilk that ties you in in the same way? So that puts me off - along with all the spelling mistakes and grammatical errors on his website. I'm no pedant particularly but if you're running a business, your website should be spot on

@dueindecember10 - can i ask how many calories you are on?

I signed up and put in my current weight 9.12 stone and my height 5'2 and they gave me 1500 cals per day which i find difficult to survive on. As i am currently doing 5:2 i can swap around how many calories i have per day as long as i have the correct amount each week. so on the weekends for example i could have more calories and have more treats (but not go crazy).

I could get 1700 cals per day if i do 15,000 steps each day and workout 6 times per week. thats alot and i would need to build upto that amount of exercise.

@kathryn19801 - wow well done on your weightloss. i only want to loose 1 stone so that's why i think my calories are low and tbh i feel abit disappointed as all their advertising is videos of them saying i know you guys are shocked at how many calories you have been given but you will loose weight eating all those calories.

@NameChangerSpaceRanger - how long have you been doing it? And how much have you lost? where do they give tips about how to hit your protein goals? as i generally struggle with this.

@MintyJones - yes he does alot of swearing and while i don't mind swearing massively I just don't see the need for so much of it.

Yes you are tied in for a year and tbh once i signed up and saw my caloires was 1500 per day i felt sad like its not worth it.

you should check out the 5:2 thread on here, very supportive and its flexible, i guess everyone's weight loss journey is different so you need to consider what you need and what works for you. I think for me i can survive on less calories on some days if it means i can have more on other days, but i can't really manage on 1500 calories every day Sad

@UpsidedownrightnowUpsidedownrightnow - I am on 2100 now but I do 25,000 steps and 3 weighted workouts a week. To up your steps there are walkie talkies where you can walk on the spot - 10 mins = 1000 steps so they soon add up. Could you manage any weighted workouts? Water bottles count. That adds on some calories.

I think I started on around 1800 but the school runs make me pretty active normally.

@dueindecember10 You can go on your weekly averages to save calories for the weekend but it's not really encouraged as can lead to binge/restrict cycle. Also I join in with some of the HIIT workouts and weights workouts on the page as find it quite motivating. It's not for everyone but works for me.

I joined. Hate it.

Hate his ranty, sweary videos.

Have never, ever managed to hit my macros. There is no help or guidance in how to hit your macros.

Locked in for a year but will be leaving as soon as I can.

I'm on 1800 calories if i do 15000 steps a day, drops down to 1700 calories if i take it down to 10000. No workouts.

I've been signed up for a while and do lose weight when i do it, I also find it easy to stick to when compared to pretty much any other diet I've tried as I'm not hungry and can have a few treats. My problem is evening drinking and snacking which keeps derailing me.

The thing about hitting the macros is that its quite personal in terms of what you like to eat, so there are various recipes to try but you really just need to find what works for you. I just make sure i have a lot of protein and fibre at breakfast and lunch which leaves more flexibility in the evening.

@Upsidedownrightnow can I ask what macros they gave you? I'm the exact same height and weight as you and am considering signing up. However, I'm sticking to 1500 calories just using my Fitbit and MFP - not sure what else RH will add other than macros?
