DD weight loss

DD (16) has been depressed and had put on some weight. Before she put it on she had an exceptional figure so isn’t happy with the comparison having gained about a stone and a half.

Good news is she’s decided to exercise every day and eat well and less.

Today she had dinner at about 4:30, she had breakfast lunch (light) and since that time I offered her Greek yogurt, fruit, cheese etc and all refused. Absolutely refusing to eat anything.

Will this be ok as she had three small meals accruing around 1,400 cal. Also is it ok to do so many hours in the evening without any snack?

Sorry that’s come off a bit garbled. A bit worried that she’s taking it too far.

1400 is a normal amount of calories, for a lot of women it's all we need. At 16 she isn't a growing child anymore. And "snacks" every hour aren't essential. Just keep an eye on it in general without making a big deal of it. Begging her to eat when she's had three meals, just a bit earlier than usual, is silly.

@1300cakes thank you for that, you’re right and she got quite cross with me asking if she wanted this or that Confused

Yes eating just 3 meals with no snacks at 1400 is a healthy way to lose weight.

She's not going to lose it eating 2000 is she? Just keep an eye and make sure she's not obsessing over the number and is actually eating her meals x

Be glad she’s keen to get fit and lose weight, stop trying to feed her, very mixed messages about food.
She’s basically an adult and 3 meals per day is fine, constant snacking is what puts the weight on!

Also constantly asking may make her feel defensive and become more secretive as she feels you're sabotaging her diet.

I disagree with the PP though, 1500 is the basal rate of most women (what we burn if we just laid down all day).

One doesn't need snacks. She sounds sensible.

@1300cakes @CorianderLord @JKScot4 @Schoenes

Thank you for the reassurance. I had read somewhere that you shouldn’t go long hours fasting so it’s good to know no harm is being done.

I’m delighted with her self control, she’s been doing Chloe Ting workouts and it looks like she’s lost inches already.

I’m from a ‘feeder’ family so I must stop myself offering her food, she did look confused at my fourth offer as if to say “why are you doing this?” Blush
