Contraception and weight gain/ struggling to lose ..

Have been on the pill for a couple years and now the coil, have gained about 2 stone but not sure if it’s all contraception related.. now trying to lose weight and finding it absolutely impossible!!! Can’t even lose a pound, my coil works wonders for my PMS so don’t wanna take it out if it makes no difference but has anyone else had this problem?

Hormonal contraception doesn't cause weight gain, but it can increase your appetite or cause water retention. This is usually a short lived problem. I would suggest you look at how you are trying to lose weight and whether you are doing it properly. Drink plenty of water and cut out alcohol to beat any water retention.

I was think the exact same about my implant. Haven't shifted a pound have been doing four work outs a week and walking when I can. I join my fitness pal and the issues I was having is portion sizes. I was eating enough for two people in one meal. Once I got that under control the weight has started dropping off. It may be worth looking at what and how much you are eating :)

@delilahbucket thanks! It hasn’t actually caused me to gain any weight but I can’t actually lose any either! I also don’t eat any more since being on it and am eating significantly less, usually around 1500-1200 calories a day 😒 don’t have a lot to cut out as I don’t drink, don’t get take always, don’t snack in the evening, so can only think it’s the coil? Defo need to increase my water though

Do you weigh and log every little thing you eat or are you guessing?

I started off logging absolutely everything but now I have to admit I guess, perhaps I’ll try logging again
