Lose stone in lockdown (like this) - possible?

Maria53 · 14/04/2020 19:16

Would like a few folk to look at my diet/ plan. I am 5'5 and my weight has crept up to 12 stone. I got a fright when a doctor commented on it and honestly I feel heavy now. I want to get down to at least 11 stone as the first benchmark. Here are some example meals:

Breakfast

X2 scrambled eggs with chives
Or x2 weetabix with oat milk
Black coffee no sugar

Lunch
Soup & a glass of water
Beans on toast (very occasional)

Dinner

Oven baked chicken with pesto & tomatoes. Small portion brown rice & vege.

Salmon with lots of vege

Snacks

Tangerines, grapes, avocados
Mint tea

Exercise

30 mins belly dance, 30 mins weight training

1 hour vinyasa yoga on a gentler day

4 times a week enough? I spend 1 hr outside walking as well.

I would say yes but maybe try downloading ' my fitness pal - you can count all your calories and log your exercise and it will
Let you know if your eating to much or too little

I actually have downloaded my fitness pal and at least half the way it says I am eating too little (under 1350 cals)! I would honestly struggle to make it to that on average By the time I have dinner I will be at 1100 cals for the day - which is still quite far off from the 1350 goal it has assigned me!

I don't know - I wouldn't lose any weight eating that much or at least that many carbs - but you know your own metabolism. It seems a lot of calories and food to me! agree My Fitness Pal would give you proper information.

For me fasting is the best way to lose weight - but it's challenging while you're stuck indoors all the time!

That is not a lot of food Anna.

Anna - to be clear I am not suggesting eating 2 meals at breakfast lunch etc! This doesn't seem like a lot to me either.

I won't be able to fast in this situation and I also don't want to as I want to find a diet and regime I can sustain over time.

Also how long on average would it take to lose that stone if I'm doing it right ?

It took me 6 weeks to lose a stone recently and that was on around 1300 - 1400 calories per day , exercising 4 times a week

I really really really struggle to lose weight and am busy all day and eat well but am overweight .. I was gaining weight in isolation and freaking out as I was unhappy to start with .. anyhoo I joined slimming world last wed and have hardly changed my diet ( I'm eating more of anything ) and in no way hungry but I've lost 4 lbs already . I logged my food etc and tried everything so def worth considering..
it was £60 for 3 months

@coffeeaddiction - good for you!! That's good to know. So maybe I could lose a stone in less than 2 months?

I am considering whether to buy scales but I don't want to obsess over them either.

Oh my goodness that is hardly any food, especially if you are exercising as well. Please look up team RH on Facebook.
I've lost two stone with them so far over the last couple of months and I'm currently 10 stone and 5'6. I don't do weights or anything like that just walking or a bit of running. I eat 2300 calories a day.
You've obviously been used to eating more than you said in your first post. Presumably you are not planning on swearing off alcohol, chocolate, cheese, dessert etc for the rest of your life? On that little calories you may struggle to get enough fibre, protein (so might lose muscle instead of fat which is probably not your goal), vitamins etc and you might not have enough energy.
I've still got a stone to lose to reach my goal weight and it's not hard, I ate chocolate this weekend and jam tarts today. On team rh you eat the foods you enjoy and it's successful because it's sustainable and you can make a habit of it.
Good luck you can definitely do this.

@Hollywhiskey thanks for your reply. Oh dear I'm a bit worried now!

Well I hope I gain muscle as I am weight training 3 times a week on average!

Before this I was eating chocolate digestivites with my tea break and allowing myself more treats during the week. I've cut that out now.

I appreciate your recommendation but I am also taking a break for social media platforms aside from whatsapp at the moment, so that might not work for me.

I would be really grateful if people could make recommendations to how I can tweak my current plan to improve it?

I am.also going to allow a cheat snack or 2 on the weekends. It's still lockdown and a chocolate bar wont kill me.

I would definitely lose weight with that diet plus MFP to keep me right. It looks fine.

It's a slippery slope @squaresandsquares Smile

If I buy the snacks and keep them in the house I have no willpower. If they aren't in the house it's easy as I have no choice!
