How can I lose my thighs?!

ohlookitsbetty · 04/04/2020 12:15

Lost some weight over the past couple of years. I'm 5'2 27 and weigh 48kg.

I do over 10,000 steps a day walking. I don't drive, so I walk A LOT. I also try and do leg exercises at home. I eat a balanced diet, loads of fruit and veg and rarely eat meat.

Yet I STILL cannot shift these thighs. My upper half of my body looks in complete disproportion to my bottom half. My top half is quite bony and I have barely any breasts ( 32 AA).

I've attached a couple of pictures. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions, please?!

You are pear shaped and on top of that you do a lot of walking and specifically leg exercises, it looks like you have toned muscular thighs. As an apple shape with shapeless skinny legs unless I train hard I think you have fabulous shapely legs!

You have lovely legs! I find swimming helps tone mine. I'm missing it tbh as I don't have a pool of my own.

You have strong, muscular, fantastic thighs!! Be proud!! They are in no way fat at all so why'd you want to 'get rid' of them. You have a really great shape!

Sorry I accidentally clicked post before I typed my response. Thank you for your replies. I think it just annoys me that my top half is so out of proportion to my bottom half. My top half is really quite scrawny, which obviously makes my bottom half stand out even more. I'm also pretty short which I don't think helps. Even when I've been heavier the weight just automatically goes straight to my legs. Blush

You have a lovely figure. This is just your genetic shape.

However, if it does bother you, BioPrint may help. Link to someone who does it below, you can google search your own area. Combine it with strength training, low-ish carbs and drinking a lot of water for best results.

It's quite expensive and you'll have to wait until after lockdown!

I totally sympathise OP. I'm fit, exercise regularly, good weight, but my thighs are the bane of my life.
Can never get comfortable jeans ever and have to be so careful what I wear to stop the unbalanced effect. It also makes my legs look short which they aren't. Would also love some answers - but not optimistic.

You do look really toned OP. Is if fat or muscle would you say? I built similarly though not at all toned. I fear there’s not much you can do to fundamentally alter ones shape.

Have your legs amputated between your knees and your hips?

Or just accept your (lovely) shape.

Oh, and thank your lucky stars you're not an apple shape. Imagine everything you eat going straight on your gut...

@MiddlesexGirl YES. Jean shopping is a nightmare. Struggle to get most past my thighs/hips but the bigger sizes are huge at the waist. Same with high waisted skirts, struggle to get them up but then the smallest sizes are massive at the waist.

I wouldn't say they're really toned, but I wouldn't say they were flabby either. They're sort of in between. I guess I'll just have accept the way I'm built. I wish the weight went to my boobs instead!

Anyone have any suggestions in terms of clothing that may flatter my shape a little more?

Get jeans/trousers altered, a la the Kardashians and all celebs?! That way they'll fit you perfectly.

Did you check out the BioPrint link. I lost my saddlebags doing it and my boobs

You have gorgeous thighs. Any smaller would look weird!

I'm a similar shape to you - around 5 foot and 46kg. I have gradually improved my shape by weight training to gain muscle on upper body and improve muscle tone in legs and losing some weight - so I'm I'm better proportion and don't look so bony up top as I have some muscle there. It's been a slow process though!

You look fine to me, but if you are only exercising your legs you will have strong legs and a weak upper body.

Use weights to strengthen your body and put muscle on your chest, abs, shoulders and arms. The muscles won't be bulky and you will feel stronger. Classes like body pump will do, or get a couple of PT sessions.

Your weight seems right but if you put on muscle, you can get away with carrying a few more kilos as you will look leaner.

As an aside: some men work their chest and arms. I was horrified once when I saw a newish boyfriend in shorts - he was all muscles with twiggy legs. Grin

I'm a similar height and also hefty of thigh and pear shaped although have big boobs but little shoulders.
Take heart, when you're mid 40s you might 'fill out' everywhere as I have!
You look fab and very fit and slim by the way!

I think you look like you just have nice strong quads and hamstrings and glutes

I have been working really hard the last year to get that kind of definition Grin

Sorry but you look great, be proud of it 👍

My thighs are like this. No matter what, my thighs are chunky compared to everywhere else. Ive made peace with them now after years of hating them. You look great

I think I left mine in a pair of size 12 Levi 501's about 15 years ago.
