Have I left it too late?

I’ve decided to try and lose the weight that is making me so unhappy about myself.
I’m 49 and peri menopausal.

I’m not sure what weight I would like to be but I know I would like to comfortably fit into a size 12, I’m a 14/16 currently. Idon’t want to be too thin (I’m only 5’4) so still what to have curves.
I love walking and can easily walk 8-9 miles 3 times a week. I can’t too too much cardio as my boobs are too big (even with 2 sports bras on) so walking suite me. I would like to get back to the gym to do some weight training but the Coronavirus is putting me off just now!!

My question is has anyone else round about the same age as me and peri menopausal lost weight, started to feel good about themselves and gotten a decent looking figure. I would love to have an hourglass figure but I’m not sure if that ship has sailed?

Another goal for losing weight is I would really like to have a boob reduction, in the past my boobs have never really changed in size (when I was 30 and a size 8, my bra size was a 32FF).

I'd be interested to know.I am shorter than you and struggling to button up size 12 trousers but the weight just won't budge up. It's so depressing as I don't know how to dress anymore.

Of course it’s not too late. It sounds like you just need to lose a stone to feel more comfortable and get back into size 12s. I have lost a stone recently and I am 53 and a comfortable size 12.

We need less food as we get to our 50’s. I did it by eating two meals a day, lots of veg, low carbs. I have roast potatoes on a Sunday and one piece of good chewy sourdough or rye bread every day but no pasta, rice or mountains of toast. Cut the obvious rubbish, biscuits, cake etc. Keep walking to keep your spirits up, maybe try a food diary. I feel much better without my huge stomach. Good luck Smile

Not too late and weight training will be excellent beneficial thing to add at your age. There's plenty of body weight strength exercises (just google) you can be doing while you wait for the gyms to reopen.

I do Pahla B daily workouts for women over 50 and I love it. She does 31 days of different routines of moderate exercise, no jumping, nothing on the ground, mix of low impact cardio, strength and toning, balance, something different every day. It's all on YouTube for free. I would start at day 2 as day 1 is just walking, but it's really enjoyable and she talks a lot of sense about losing weight and what sort of exercise you need at this age.

Have a look at Food Combining. I lost 3 stone at around mid 50s with that and Paul Mackenna (mindfulness).

Food Comb. is just eating protein and carbs at separate meals and fruit on an empty stomach (I eat it for breakfast) . I leave roughly 3 hours between meals, but with PM have learnt to wait till I'm hungry and eat really slowly, enjoying my food . Then stop when I'm full.

There's nowt special about me. I didn't have any bands fitted or take any pills.
