Can you lose weight during pregnancy?

Hi guys,
I’m high risk due to my weight and pregnant with my first child.
My doctor said I can continue to go to the gym which is great news, I’m eating a healthy balanced diet too. She advised me not to lose any weight during pregnancy. Has anyone lost weight during pregnancy before or know anything about it?
Thanks

Yes but I didn't purposefully set out to do it. My lifestyle before getting pregnant was awful and I was 15 stone. Barely any exercise, lots of beer and eating out. When I got pregnant obviously the beer stopped which made a MASSIVE difference to calorie consumption and once I started to feel less sick in the second trimester I exercised regularly so swimming twice a week, circuits (proper pregnancy ones) once a week and walking every day and I ate better. I then got a GD diagnosis so had no choice but to move on to a super strict diet of no sugar and heavily restricted carbs. Within a year of having my baby I was 4 stone lighter than before I got pregnant and some of that weight loss was during pregnancy. DS is how 2 and I've gained half a stone back this winter so now working to get rid of that as I know how easy it is for weight gain to spiral!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Thank you, this is really reassuring.
I want to continue being as healthy and active as possible, I’m 21 stone but really active, I’m eating much better and have lost over a stone this year and I think I will continue to do this during my pregnancy without really trying to.

I went down from 10st to 9st in trimester 1
I think it’s common to lose in the first 15w xxx
