Anyone got about half a stone to lose?

curragh · 19/02/2020 15:20

Just that really.

I am a lucky enough to be a healthy BMI (upper end of the range) but a persistent additional 0.5 stone has crept on over the last year or so. I have a chronic illness so need to be careful with my nutrition. My plan is to focus on eating 'real', minimally processed foods where possible. My meals tend to be healthy but I have a terrible sweet tooth and hoover up sweet treats at work and in the evenings. This is where I need to focus as when I start I find it hard to stop.

I've seen the 'Brain over Binge' podcast recommended here so will give that a go. I will also make sure I meal plan and have healthy lunches ready to bring to work.

I'd love if anyone would join me but in any case I'll weigh in tomorrow morning and then check in weekly. I work well when I have to accountable :-)

Hello curragh

Me too on wanting to lose half a stone. I’m a healthy weight also, probably look quite slim to others.

But I’m carrying an extra half stone that all sits on my hips & thighs, and I’d love to get it gone! It’s crept on since about October I think, and is blatantly cheese based.

I need accountability too, so I’ll join you if I may and weight in tomorrow.

Welcome CSS!

I am slo have a weak spot for cheese but only really have it in the house around Xmas (as a preventative measure :-))

I weighed myself this morning - 10st 9lb. I'm quite tall and a typical apple carrying it all around my middle

I did a strength training you tube workout yesterday so have just done 30 mins of gentle yoga to stretch out my tired legs. Foodwise only so-so - I had a small square of home-made traybake in work earlier - but otherwise have had healthy protein and veg-rich meals.

I'll weigh in again next Thursday

Me too, upper end of a healthy BMI. GP is happy - but I like to get back closer to the middle - from 72 kg to 68 kg would be great.
I had to look at me sitting down in front of a mirror and there were lots of bits of me I could do without.
My GP just started me on an ergometer training plan and then there's lent coming up (I love food - not cheese though! And baking!).

I'll come back next Thursday, too

Can I join in? About 9st but I’m short and would like to lose 7-10lbs.

Currently my weak spot is snacking, especially sugary things so need to organise myself with healthier snacks.

Hello, I'd like to join please :) I'm 5ft 3.5in and currently 9st 7lb, would love to get closer to 9st.

Was 10st at the beginning of January and lost the first half stone quite quickly through the tedious but effective method of eating less and moving more! It's now really slowed down though as my body has adjusted so it will be harder to stay motivated.

I'm using MFP to track and currently on 1200 calories a day, which is mostly fine but have gone off plan once or twice for special occasions and undone a week or two's good work in a night...

Caulk sweet and salted popcorn is my snacking saviour, I have a bag every day!

Please can I join?! I have a stone to lose, ideally by mid-April...

I love these threads but I'm not great when there's too many people, I get lost on them Grin

I need to cut down the rubbish food (I have a shocking sweet tooth!) and up the exercise too. Think I'm 10 stone (likely just over now..)

Even 10lb would be great Smile

Lost 6 lbs in the last 3 weeks, would like to round that up to 14! Using myfitnesspal. It’s been ok. Am on 1600 calories a day but I’m very, very active.

I'd like to join you please?
I'm around 10.9 but I bounce around, I'd like to get back to 10.3 (that's my my previous lowest after losing weight) but I'd really like to be 9.13.

I'm going sugar free for Lent (starting on Wednesday) as I seem to have a ten minute moment each day where I tip my food intake from 'brilliant, low carb' to 'biscuits'
I do a fair amount of exercise: I run 100km + a month, do strength training/bootcamp and I have recently acquired a punchbag which I do hiit training on, plus I do a daily yoga. But my weight is maintaining pretty much and it is gradually creeping up. I must be eating more than I realise.

My plan is to cut the carbs right back, and quitting sugar will help this hugely. I also feel 100 x better when I cut out dairy so I'm going to do the double whammy! I will combine this with intermittent fasting which seems to work well for me.

Yep, me. I’m only 5 foot 1 and healthy BMI but I know I’m happier about half a stone less than I am now. It’s just so hard! Confused

Ooh I forgot to come back to this! Thanks for the welcome curragh (ages ago).

I did weigh in on Thursday, and was 8st 9 pounds. I’m 5’ 2” and very small framed, happier at 8.

My clothes are starting to get tight, don’t want to have to buy more!!

thenewaveragebear I hear you on the food intake tipping point. I can be healthy eating personified, until there’s biscuits.

cats you sound just like me, let’s keep checking in.

Anyone still on this? I've had a good week and currently sitting at 9st 4lb. How's everyone else doing?

I'd forgotten about this thread too! Since Sunday I've been very low carb (cut all white carbs out and zero sugar) and have been having bone broth/soup for my lunch instead of real food, with an evening meal. I'm surprised to say, I'm down 8lbs! (10.12.5 on Sunday, to 10.4.5 today!) It's been surprisingly manageable although I have had a few moments where if I hadn't planned or prepped my food I would have cracked, but as it was there ready I managed to resist other stuff.

I'm a bit dreading the weekend as I tend to go totally off piste, but knowing that I have had a good start is hopefully going to keep me on track.

MegBusset · 28/02/2020 15:15

Well done both of you, that's great progress!

I'm just having porridge for breakfast, soup for lunch (not bone broth though as I'm a veggie!), a bag of popcorn in the afternoon and normal family dinner but tracking everything in MFP and watching portion sizes. Find it much easier to not eat much in the day and then have a bit more flexibility in the evenings. I've cut back a lot on wine and not really missing it, even managed a work night out last night without drinking.

Wow amazing weight loss! Well done. My progress will be much slower Grin

I weighed myself on Thursday morning and think I'm about 1lb down...my scales isn't great! I don't mind too much as hopefully I'll see a downward trend over the next few weeks.

I've just been concentrating on healthy meals and controlling the snacks especially at night. I have zero control and would find myself mindlessly munching all evening. I haven't overly worried about calories etc as I mainly want to break the snacking habit.

No loss as yet - it's getting more difficult the older I get - I give it until next week.
Well done to you all.

Using MFP myself and logging every sodding thing! The weight is coming off ......I’m 50 and peri menopausal so definitely finding it harder. Needs must though!

Typical day in case it’s any help:

40g porridge oats hot water teaspoon of honey
Banana
Apple
Raspberries
Two spoons full of yoghurt

Omelette (2 eggs) with grated cheese and spinach, green salad

Stir fried tofu with lots of veg, soy sauce, no rice

Cereal bar
Bag of pop chips (72 calories!)

Weekly weigh in this morning - again possible slight loss. I really need to sort out my scales - they are ancient and its hard to see small differences.

Happy enough as not the best week with 2 dinners out and DC1's birthday party. The snacking of sweets in the evenings has also crept back in due to availability (cf DC1 party) and work-related stress. I mist get back to listening to the Brain over binge podcasts instead of coronavirus

Hey everyone Smile I'm down to 9st 2lb (ish) so not too far to go, though it's slow going. Main complaint is that my waist seems to have disappeared Hmm as I've lost inches from my hips and boobs, and stomach is looking more toned but I'm heading towards a straight up and down shape! I want to keep my curves, just on a smaller scale!

Aargh,
only 1 kg and that in lent. When I was young a 4kg loss during lent was a nice side effect. But, in my late fifties - it is soo slow.
