Has anybody used a fitbit (or similar tech) for weight loss and getting active? Did it work for you?

The one I'm interested in is £70 and I'm wondering if it's worth the cost.

I have a Fitbit inspire hr and it’s great. You have an app on your phone which is linked to it and you can log all your food same as my fitness pal. You log exercise too and it tells you your steps and how many calories you’ve burned. It gives you a wee nudge to move if you’ve been sitting too long as well, I find it really helps me as you can see exactly where you are every day. I really like it!

I have a Fitbit Alta HR and I like it. Having a target keeps me active - a little nudge if you haven't done much in each hour and a literal buzz for reaching 10k steps. I'm not sure it has much impact on weight loss though - you can't out-step a poor diet.

I have a Fitbit Alta HR. My DH bought it for Christmas last year, I must admit I was a bit miffed when I opened it, but I love it. Like the other posters its linked to my phone, i track my calories, water intake and weight every Monday. It certainly was the thing that has helped keep me motivated as I love seeing the graphs showing my loss, and BMI and my resting heart rate all way lower than when I started.

I bought a different strap for mine a metal one as I thought it looked too much like a swimming band. But that's personal choice.

I love mine, I have an Alta Hr too. I've never used the calorie tracker as I prefer other apps but I use the weight tracker and the exercise counter etc all the time. I've had it 2 years now so all my data/graphs are quite comprehensive now and I love looking back to when I started and seeing how far I've come.

Sounds good, I think I'll invest.

@Patchworksack I don't have a poor diet.

Sorry, I didn't mean poor as in implying your diet is unhealthy, just that it is easier to create a calorie deficit by decreasing calories taken in than by increasing calories expended. So if your intention in getting a fitbit is to move a bit more and see the weight drop off you will likely be disappointed. You'll often see people saying weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. I walk 18k steps on a good day and that's only about 500 exercise calories, and just about gets me up to the 1800-2000 cals that a supposedly average woman needs. I still need to eat below 1500 to lose a slow pound a week.
