Losing weight through treating yourself better?

I need to lose about 2 stone and I’m really fed up of dieting and that feeling of ‘denial’.
I was having a think about this and thought that if I treated myself better and had more respect for me and my body then it might be easier to lose weight?
I want to really think about what I eat instead of mindlessly eating biscuits, which of course aren’t really nutritionally good.
There’s a lot in there that reflects my attitude towards myself generally too.
Has anyone done something like this or want to try?

There’s a chapter in Nigella Lawson’s How To Eat about what she calls ‘Temple Foods’ as in my-body-is-a-temple, which might be useful to you.

Sounds like a good approach though, making yourself a priority. Lots of people get this kind of insight in therapy, recognising you’re not giving yourself enough of something important but eating instead. Good luck, sounds really positive.

Thank you. I’ll have a look at that book. I like the look of a lot of her recipes too.

Yes, I have switched my thinking recently. Gone from seeing diets and exercise as punishment, to seeing healthy food and exercise as self love and self care. Taking care of my body, and giving myself food to nourish me and give me energy. It's helped me a lot. Good luck!

That sounds like exactly what I’m trying to do @blubberball
It’s not a punishment, it’s self care. My new mantra Smile

This is definitely my approach. I am eating nutritious food and training hard in the gym because I want to be stronger, fitter and healthier.

Exercise is not a punishment, it's something I do because it makes me feel great both physically and mentally. Eating well is about fueling my body.

I use very particular language to describe what I am trying to achieve, both to others and myself. I want to be stronger and leaner, not thinner or smaller.

It's a great journey OP, and leaves you in a much better place than self loathing and denial.

I would like to recommend the Louise Parker method because Eating beautifully and living well are part of her approach - which has really resonated with me. I just needed nudging in the right direction.

She has an app which I do like but I prefer her books which I got second hand off Amazon.
