Snacks for in the evening

Nottsangel2015 · 14/01/2020 16:42

Hi all
So I know we shouldn't snack or anything but I have to study/work most nights and after working all day and sorting children out am often knackered so in order to keep my energy up to work/study I snack during this time. I know it's bad but I just need it to keep me going.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could be snacking (sweeter would be most ideal) to give me the boost i need without sabotaging diets.
Thanks

My favourite diet snacks are:

Plain rice cake with salad cream and ham, or peanut butter
Celery with peanut butter smooshed into the middle and raisins dotted into it
Salted popcorn
Miso soup
Thin slices of chorizo or salami

@jeremypaxo I haven't tried miso soup - it looks like water, is it nice?

I hate celery but that does sound appealing - peanut butter is very high in calories though is that not bad to eat in the evening?

What about roasting some chickpeas or butter beans or seeds, or all of them, in some sweet bbq seasoning?

I usually leave 200 calories for snacks in the evening

My favourites are:

Cheese and biscuits - Carr's cheese melts biscuits (20 calories each) plus sliced very thinly light babybels or low calorie cheddar

Pret A Manger chocolate almonds - 210 a bag. They are incredibly satisfying.

I also love Miso soup with those seaweed crackers dipped in - 40 calories for Miso, 10 for the seaweed thins. Salty, tasty, strong flavouring

-yoghurt and fruit by the bucket load -lentil crisps -baby tomatoes and Mozzarella pearls drizzled in a little olive oil - dark chocolate - hard boiled egg on some brown toast or brown bread sandwich

Thanks guys no idea why I haven't thought of some of these! They sound delicious! Am updating my food shop as we speak!
I'll have to try the seaweed thins, if tastes anything like the crispy seaweed from the Chinese I'll love it 😊

I munch on sugar snap peas, or you can try low fat hummus with some veg. Tesco sells swoodles (swede) which I flavour with soy sauce. You can use it as a rice and noodle substitute too it has hardly any calories.
Go easy on the fruit - alot of calories!

Depends what diet you are on. For a low carber like me I have little pots of sugar free jelly ready in the fridge, celery sticks and a tiny pot of Philadelphia or a teaspoon of PB or I make a little plate of a small square of cheese, some ham slices and a couple of Brazil nuts. Sometimes I make flaxseed and Parmesan crackers and have a couple with some highly stinky blue cheese!

All very satisfying. (Obviously not all at the same time but it's good to know there's options)

Thank you everyone! am all stocked up on my food shop for this weekend. Excited now!
Not on any diet as such just trying to make healthier choices and reduce sweets/chocolate and cake which are my downfall!

Mini twister ice lollies are nice and low calorie. And you can make them last a reasonable time.

Also try the "barenaked" noodles with some chicken stock and porcini mushrooms. Taste just like regular egg noodles, ready in 3 minutes and a whole decent portion is only 15 calories. They're not cheap but so worth it.
