Virtual Gastric Band hypnosis

I am five days into the ‘Sue and James Virtual Gastric Band’ Hypnosis app. I wondered if anyone else is giving this a go?

I’ve always seen hypnosis as a bit woo but am willing to give it a go to try and change my mindset towards eating.

I am trying to eat more mindfully and not eat when I am not hungry and this is going well so far. I had a sneaky weigh yesterday (so four days in) and had lost 7lb. Trying to keep off the scales until Monday which will be my weekly weigh in.

Apart from anything else I am finding the 25 min daily hypnosis sessions a good bit of relaxation time.

Anyone else?

Hi, I'm doing the Paul McKenna hypnotic gastric band. It was free with a trial of audible. I'm also doing a vlcd (exante vegan shakes). I'm not weighing though I find I become fixated on the scales. Well done on the 7lb that's bloody amazing!

I’m glad it’s not just me. I figured I was the one person who’d been conned into thinking it might work!!

Whether you buy into the hypnosis / opening your subconscious bit of it or not, I think the visualisation of a healthier and thinner me is helpful, and taking a bit of time out for the session to keep my eye on the prize is helpful.

I am trying to channel eating in moderation/ stopping when full but also using Tom Kerridge/ Pinch on Nom/ Veggie dishes for main meals.

I did TK/ Slimming World a couple of years ago and lost 2.4 stone which has crept back on over the last 18 months as I’ve been comfort eating while studying. Am determined to be slimmer for graduation pics!!!

I do think it's helping, last night I so wanted peanut butter on toast but something just stopped me completely. I'm hoping it helps I'm so desperately unhappy. I lost 5 stone four year back and kept it off until August this year. But a combination of everything has just pushed me back to emotional and binge eating.

Hi All,

Can i join in?

I have just downloaded Paul Mckennas gastric band from audible.

I need to lose 20 lb, but have a medical condition that lowers my metabolic rate. I have been using this condition as an excuse for the last 3 years Smile, but am now ready to accept that being overweight has a negative impact on my mental health.

Good luck to everyone.

I've used this really successfully to maintain my weight loss for several years. Plus I find it very relaxing so use it to go to sleep every night.

There's a supportive Facebook page which is really active.

I did the Sue and James Virtual Gastric band last year for 2 months, combined it with Exante vlcd and lost 1 stone 8lbs in 2 months. I always fell asleep listening to the hypnosis sessions but as I listened to them at night it helped me get to sleep - win win! I felt great and was really in the zone but then I went on holiday and completely lost it and haven't been able to get back to it despite trying lots of the other sessions on Sue and James app.

I gave myself a break over Christmas and enjoyed myself a bit too much but always with it in my head that I would start again on Jan 2nd. I'm back in the zone and feeling good, listening to the gastric band session again from the start. Drinking lots of water is really helping me too. I'm also going to start walking for a bit of exercise and planning to do a 2 mile walk in the morning before work. I used to do this but got out of the habit a few months back. It puts me in a really good mood and I don't feel like cheating on my diet as I've put the effort in to do some good early in the day.

Keep going with the hypnosis sessions, they really do work if you get into the zone and you will start seeing results.

Good luck!

I’m glad there’s a little gang of hypno GBs coming together! I’d be really interested to hear how you all get on.

Weight day for me tomorrow 🤞

Weigh day today - 8lb down after a week. Very pleased with this.

The test will come now I am getting back to normal life - kids back to school today and me back to the commute. I had planned to wake at 6 and then have 1/2 hour in bed listening to today’s session ... but I overslept so will try to do it on the train (helpfully I won’t snore!!!)

Well done coldfeet in summer, i'm looking forward to be able to post the same weight loss.

The scales showed 4 different readings this morning, think it might need a new battery, however I think I'll go with the reading that says I have lost 4 lbs Wink

I have 2 more days on the PMK intro before I actually undergo the gastric band installation. I am feeling strangely nervous!

Keep up the good work.

Sounds like good progress pass

I managed to do the app session on the delayed train this morning. Have had a really good day with lots of water.

My difficult moments are 5-8ish in the evening when I am making the kids’ tea - DH and I tend to eat at 8.30/9 after the kids are in bed. I admit I did nibble on a few chips and bits of quiche from their tea. I need to plan to have healthy snacks for that slot to avoid falling into bad habits!

I am out for lunch tomorrow so need to choose wisely and also make sure I stop eating when full. Planning on restarting couch to 5k on Wednesday.

At lunch today I chose a pasta dish with a tomato based sauce with aubergine... (I’d usually go for carbonara or similar) and left 1/3 of it as I was full AND I managed to not hoover up crisps/ kids dinner tonight! Progress!

Lunch was left over courgette, butter beans and olives from a roasting tin dish last night and then I got my arse out the door and did Week 1 Run 1 of C25k. At the end of the podcast Laura says go and have water and maybe a small snack. I’ve had the water but not the snack as I AM NOT HUNGRY! Feeling good about that and that I haven’t fallen into the biscuit tin like I usually do when I work at home. Speaking of, best do some work...

There are certain phrases she uses that I find jarring though (“single piece of skin” and “sensations on the soles of your feet”) that for some reason always make me snap out of it a bit and think to myself ‘weird phrase’ before getting back into it Grin

Finding it uncanny how it is helping curb cravings and making me more mindful!

Ha ha - yes, the 'single piece of skin' did make me think of The Silence of the Lambs'! Grin
