First time calorie counting - starting tomorrow. Researching now and planning my shopping list.

Anyone else?

So back to it, fitbit charged, ready for tracking every calorie and glass of water o sip!

I’m —re—starting tomorrow too!
I’ve got the nutracheck app, aiming for 1200 or less.

I want to lose 7lbs.....put loads on over Christmas!

I just downloaded an app. It tells me I need to stick to 1400 kcal for moderate / slow weight loss. I want to get rid of 4-6 kg.
And DD tells me not to eat after 18:00 and do some exercises instead.

We'll see....

Which one is it? I’ve got nutracheck, it’s very good for calories.

I’ve already said that..! Grin not on commission I promise!

MyFitnessPal is probably the one used most often.
I used it some years back but you quickly learn the things you eat/drink the most off the top of your head and just get to the point where you add it up in your head rather than have to fiddle with a phone each time.

Also much easier if you round stuff:

Eg slice of bread 92 cals
Jam 77 cals
Butter 50 cals

I'd just add 90 + 80 + 50 so you can do it easily in your head.

I’m calorie counting with MyFitnessPal too, going to start on 1300 but not eat back any exercise calories earned. I’ll try and keep within 1200 but have previously found it hard to stick to so low and given up so thought I’d try a slightly higher allowance until I stop losing at that.

I've downloaded MyFitnessPal.

Haven't been shopping so planning to go in the morning as I'm off work.

I hate MFP so use Nutracheck instead.

I’m aiming for 1300 per day but worried I should be aiming for 1200. I’ll stick with it for a couple of weeks and if it’s not coming off I’ll drop it again.

Good luck everyone.

I think I'm going to get a shock at portion size once I start weighing food!

It’s frightening, 30g of cereal is less than I give my (very slim!) children!!

I'm not a breakfast person so just had coffee so far this morning. I need to go shopping too.
I have a food flask so will be making soups and pastas for work.

I’m dreading work, food wise. I work in a sector of the NHS where there is always cake and biscuits in the staff room, and breaks are v unreliable so food flask might be cold.
I used to get Tesco meal deals but they’re expensive and SO calorific!

@WellErr I put boiling water in mine overnight, heat soup or whatever in the microwave at 7am and it's still hot at 1pm ish if that helps

Late breakfast of a bacon omelette for me this morning.

Plan to make lentil soup for lunch.

The portion sizes are depressing. I had roast chicken and vegetables for dinner last night and my portion was so small it would have barely filled a side plate. Didn’t even have any mash just to keep the calories down. Will probably use a side plate from now on just to make it look more to me.

Actually - just made a tuna pasta. Less than 300 calls per serving (makes 4) and is a decent portion for lunch. I'm surprised!

Late lunch of homemade lentil soup.

Tricky to work out cals in my portion so just worked out total cals for the batch and halved it. Hopefully it’s accurate enough.

@Schoolinfoplease2020 I batch cook so think it's going to be hard to be exact

Dinner is looking good!

How was your dinner Playmobil?

I had toad in the hole and only had one sausage (usually I’d have 3) and about half the amount of Yorkshire Pudding I’d normally have. No mash, just veg instead.

I actually feel perfectly content with the much smaller portion. I think I’ve just been so used to eating huge big portions and eating until I’m almost unable to move I just need to train myself to eat smaller portions over time.

Still got over 300 calories left for a treat later.

Report
PlaymobilPirate · 02/01/2020 19:49

It was really good - I'm full! Will have a 99cal mini whip later (rather than handfuls of xmas chocolates!)

What will your treat be later?

I’ll definitely be having chocolate! Possibly some Pringles too if I have enough cals. Will weigh them all out though and not just gorge.

I’m on 1570 now after my scone earlier which I hadn’t even thought about until I’d eaten it.

I don’t even like to think how many calories I’ve been on over Christmas. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was around 4000 a day.

Going to bed. 118 to spare and tempted with a 2nd skinny whip but it'd be purely greed as I'm not hungry!
