Any experiences of Rebelfit and their missions?

I'm fed up of feeling as if I'm on a constant diet or feeling as if I'm failing as l'm not doing well on aforementioned diet.

Following. I love his work on Facebook but I wonder if anyone has done his missions and how they feel about it? Thanks for starting the thread.

I know this is a zombie thread, but has anybody taken part in this?

How did they find it?

Is it just another diet?

I have done a couple. They start well but he seems to lose interest in each mission over time so you get less emails and posts, and he does rant a lot off topic. I like some of the messages but the purple-orange -green food blocks sometimes feel like any other diet plan. So it does have good messages, but it’s not perfect.

Thanks. I have signed up to a Mission starting in August, after following the fan pages for years.

Considering his raison d'etre is being anti Slimming World (which I have never done) I have been surprised to hear he groups foods!

I'm interested in the science though so think I'll stick with it and brace myself for a bit of disappointment...

I did it a few years ago, I found it very aggressive and shouty. I’m doing the fast800 now and loving it.

Interesting, I like the fan pages, but I don't respond well to men telling me what to do!

How is it shouty?

Is it not quite the anti-diet, self-directed health revolution it tries to sell itself as?

Foods are grouped according to how processed they are- so a tomato is green, but a salad made of tomato and lettuce is orange as mixing them together is processing them - the theory being you eat more if foods are mixed together to be more tasty. Apparently no colour is bad, but I felt guilty eating salad or homemade soup!

He does rant. Sometimes he makes a good point, sometimes it’s annoying. During the last mission he decided to totally change it in the middle, which was frustrating.

Ok, so the reason I signed up is because I would like to be either a stone lighter or a bit leaner, and have given myself about 4 months to do this in. I am breastfeeding and 7lb of that stone is 'baby weight' and the other 7lb is lockdown weight. Losing the weight will bring me to the top end of a healthy BMI where I was pre-pregnancy.

Pre-pregnancy I was the type of person who looked at a cake and gained 2lb. But since getting pregnant and having a baby my metabolism seems much improved and I don't want to wreck that with restrictive eating on a 'diet', but also do need to lose a little bit and lose the mum-tum.

I'm really interested in the science of it all too, and want to do something more focused on exercise. The Facebook fan page gives the impression it focused on exercise and not food, but what you have said suggests otherwise?

I considered doing Joe Wicks 90day plan, but that is a similar price and he does give a lot away free on YouTube and Instagram, so thought my money would be better spent on RebelFit as it seemed longer term.

But if people do more than one mission it suggests it isn't as long-term as he suggests.

I found the group leaders and others very judgemental, if people admitted not following the plan they were told off in no uncertain terms. The idea that mixing more than 5 foods somehow makes it “bad” is also insane, I don’t want to live on chicken and broccoli thanks. Grin I didn’t find it sustainable or enjoyable, but I have some friends who really love it.
I’ve never been overweight in my life until this year, when giving up smoking combined with lockdown led to me putting on 14-15 pounds, and at my tiny height that pushed me just over into BMI 26, so I think it is pretty safe to eat eg homemade soup with more than 5 ingredients 😀

I did one RF mission about 3 years ago, a basic one on the science behind weight gain & loss, how your body responds to diet, etc. The documents he sent out explaining everything are yours to keep. It really changed the way I see myself and my issues around food. I was already rebelling against dieting but after that course I don't think I'll ever diet in a traditional way again. I eat what I want, when I want now (within reason) and I've also since learnt quite a bit about nutrition through my gym instructors. I now weigh less than I did 3 years ago and I'm much fitter (I've never done an RF fitness mission though).

Nothing he said was unique, no ground breaking insights, all stuff you can find on the internet, but all put together in a way that makes sense for people with weight issues. I love his campaign against companies like SW & WW - he gets ranty, sweary & goes too far sometimes but I like the basis of what he's trying to do.
