Slim fast for Christmas

christmascrackerzz · 03/12/2019 18:37

So I've started my own variation of slim fast in a bid to shed a few pounds before Christmas. Hopefully it will inspire me to be good over Christmas to minimise any weight gain then I hope to continue the good work into the new year!

Anyone want to join me? I'm hoping to shift a stone initially and then see how I go. My daily menu is as follows.

-Quaker oats porridge for breakfast with semi skimmed milk
-slimfast meal replacement bar for lunch
-slimfast shake for dinner
I will also allow myself one coffee with milk each morning and my advent chocolate through December!

I'm also aiming for 10,000 steps a day which is fairly easy for me as I walk a lot with my job.

Today is my first day and I'm feeling alright, I've drank loads of water about to have a shower and settle down for the evening with my shake and still have my advent chocolate to look forward to!

Well I enjoyed my chocolate shake and savoured every moment of my Lindt advent! I could deffinatly eat more but I am by no means starving. It's a nice change to feel empty before eating and not completely stuffed after! I know no one is reading but I'm writing to keep myself accountable. Heading to bed soon as I work early. Will update tomorrow.

I've been doing it for three weeks and it's a really good quick fix. I lost five pounds in the first week.

Keep going Smile

Are you eating any fruit and veg aswell? It sounds like starvation to me!

I'm reading! I'm also aiming to have a couple of good weeks before Christmas. Trying to 16:8 and stay below 1200. Was going to have some meal replacement shakes but it's too cold so I'm planning on having soup instead.

Hi Summer that's great to hear how are you finding it 3 weeks in?

I'm not starving myself just looking at about 800 cals a day for a few weeks before Christmas to kickstart my motivation then I'll look into more sustainable weight loss.

My scales are currently varying between 7lbs each time I weigh so I need to get some new ones!

Ni58 I have heard of some people having the shakes warm like a hot chocolate which I'm planning to try tomorrow. It's bloody freezing now I'm really missing my hot drinks at work! I had a mug of hot water earlier just because I miss having a hot drink so much but I need to kick the caffeine anyway!

So glad to have some slim fast friends!

Let us know how the hot shake goes!
I've had soup for lunch and a vegetable chilli with loads of salad for tea. Had a cup of tea with a bit of milk, black coffees and low sugar cordial. Haven't counted the calories, just been mindful.
Going to weigh daily just to keep myself motivated. Today was day 2 and the scales were down - water weight, probably.

Morning everyone how are we doing?!

Ni58 that's great that the scales are going down already so motivating! I'm having to go by how my clothes fit as I'm currently without scales so I'm sure I won't notice a difference until a couple of weeks in anyway. I'm a size 14 at the moment would like to be a comfortable 10-12.

I slept really well and surprisingly didn't wake up hungry! I had a really really dry mouth though so obviously need more water!

I have read on other threads about your body going into ketosis can someone tell me what this means?

Feeling positive today let's keep up the good work!

Evening everyone! waves to empty thread Grin
So day two today! I have stuck religiously to plan, it's been tougher today and I have deffinatly been more hungry but I guess that's only to be expected! I've eaten all my meals today and I'm feeling alright.

I forgot to put my Fitbit on this morning but I've been fairly active and went for a long walk this afternoon so I'm confident I've reached 10,000 steps.

I went to Tesco this morning and saw the Tesco meal replacement bars on BOGOF so I bought them and was pleasantly surprised. They taste exactly the same as the slimfast ones so I'll be buying them again.

I'll update tomorrow. Bye for now!

Hi!
I've had a good day so far. Scales were down a bit, again. Soup for lunch, nearly added a packet of crisps but resisted! I had a few boiled sweets and an Options hot chocolate during the afternoon. Just had evening meal - recipe says it's about 650 cals. Very tired so might head up to bed soon.

Ni58 sounds like you're doing great! Well done on resisting the crisps they are my downfall too! I bought some options hot choc but I'm really not a fan of the taste, I also tried my evening shake warm yesterday and it was awful! I found it really sickly so won't be doing that again!

I went to bed feeling fairly empty but I was so tiered I fell asleep within 5 minutes of turning the light off and have woke up feeling fine. Just tucking into my morning porridge and promising myself I will be strong today. We got this!!

Im doing similar, started 2 and half weeks ago. Also 5lb in the first week but not sure since as scales similarly erratic. I have about 3st to lose in total but hoping fir6a good 10lb before xmas at least to give me a little 'buffer'. Id been doing 1200 cals on mfp before but finding 800-1000 perfectly doable. My meals tend to be a lot less than the recommended 600cals so i can have a couple of extra snacks as and when or late evening too.

That's great huge how are you finding it 2.5 weeks in? I'm struggling today with a bit of a headache so trying drink plenty. I'm wandering if my scales need new batteries as I bought them about 3 years ago and haven't changed the batteries since. What sort of meals are you eating I need inspo for when I come off the bars and shakes!

I'm planning to buy a new outfit on Christmas Eve to wear on Christmas Day so I'm hoping 3 weeks is enough for me to notice a diffence! huge have you noticed your clothes feeling looser yet or is it too soon?

I was really hungry by lunch time today. I still had soup but it was a more generous portion and higher in calories. I'll have to be strong tonight!

One pair of jeans feel better but too soon to make a real difference. I've also had a headache the last two days. Hoping to push through.

Ah huge that's not what a wanted to hear 😩 ive been on this diet for 3 whole days now and wandering why I've not dropped 2 dress sizes already 🤣

Ni58 I've been starving today! I have drank more water which is good but I caved this afternoon and had a pint of sugar free lemonade! I know it's not got any callories but it's full of shite and I want to focus on on making healthier choices. Unlike the slimfast shake I'm currently sipping

On the topic of shakes I'm really going off the taste of the chocolate ones. I have three left but I'm going to try a different flavour next week.

I have started reading Michael Mosleys fast 800 and I'm finding it really interesting has anyone read it?

Evening all! I'm feeling really great today!

I upped my water massively yesterday and didn't wake up with a horrendous dry mouth which is fantastic. I've been really busy today and genuinely haven't noticed any hunger which is unbelievable. I'm finding fast 800 really interesting especially all the health benefits which are not connected with weight loss. It's really motivating. Today has been a good day. Bring on tomorrow!

Day 5 went well. I've been on a management course today and managed to resist the abundance of biscuits and cakes that were on offer and stuck 100% to plan. Well done me Smile

I've fallen totally off the waggon this weekend. Annoyed with myself!

Seriously? This isnt healthy! Youll be majorly low on protein if nothing else! Because slim fast isnt actually that high on protein so your "meal" absolutely must be protein rice. Porridge isn't. You're also really well below the amount of calories you need especially if you are exercising as well. Eating below 1000 cal regularly and you really need GP supervision through your weightloss.
