Oh my God, I've had the weekend from hell. Started lighterlife on Fri and haven't been hungry at all but the craving to put something in my mouth and eat is unbearable. I'm struggling with the water. I'm fed up of water just bland and no taste. I can't stand coffee but I was craving flavour that much I had 3 cups of the bloody stuff yesterday then had a caffine rush. Can't stop weeing, turn into an evil cow when ds and dd are eating a meal. I miss food beyond belief. Is this normal?? We had a pop in yesterday that I couldn't make as my flaming heating broke and we were waiting for an engineer to come out. Please tell me it get's better!!!! I've been pleasently suprised with the mealpacks.

Oh just seen this! Have just left a message for you on the CP thread!

Have you tried splitting your foodpacks?

I do this when I'm feeling desparate - go for 6 smaller meals rather than 3. This works well with both shakes and soups as both really make far more than it says on the packets. I always make 2 mugs of soup with the soup mix, even if I eat it all in one go, as it makes you feel like you are having a bigger meal.

When you went to the drop in were you in Ketosis? If you weren't this will settle down.

Next week you will be allowed bars, I freeze the lemon ones and then eat them straight from the freezer which makes them really chewy, this satisfies my need to put somethign in my mouth

You will also be allowed water flavourings from next week, I hate sweet drinks so only get the savory ones which are yummy when you feel cold! Howver, the girls in my group love the fruits of the forest and st. clements ones hot. Like hot ribena or hot lemon apparently!

Well done though, you have done so well to stick it out so far. What had you lost at the drop in - that's what makes it all worth while in the end

Just seen your post on the CP thread. I suppose now I've got that to slim for as well. Get rid on my fat cossies mumsie and have a nice little number for the dome.

I didn't get to the pop in. I was sat at hoime waiting for someone from Britsh Gas as my flaming heating had packed in.

I'm looking forward to getting flavors for my water next week. I didn't think I would miss chewing gum like I am either.

Woodpops - you can buy ketostix at the chemists ÂŁ4.95 or thereabouts for a box.

I found they were a good motivator for me, as if they were showing I was in ketosis that meant I was burning fat!

To some extent how you are feeling now is what the important part of the diet is all about. You need to start analysing your thoughts and feelings - what is going through your mind when you are feeling so desparate. Once you understand all of your triggers then you will be much better placed to control your eating after LL.

It is hard and at the beginning I couldn't get further than the next hour, but gradually you start thinking in days, then weeks, then months. You have probably picked one of the hardest diets to follow - by a long way. But the results are worth it. I would never have beleived 14 weeks ago that I would have lost 3 stones. I never thought I had it in me to stick it out - but I did, and so do you

You've done so well soapbox. I was seriously considering if this was right for me at the weekend. But I suppose ÂŁ45 a week is also a good incentive not to throw all the hard work away. Can you get ketostix at Boots??? I've not got any scales at home. THrew them out after losing interest in the last diet I tried!!! So I haven't a clue if I've lost anything. But dh did tell me I looked like a sack of shit yesterday in my jeans. Not in a nasty way. He just said they were way too big and hanging. I've only had them 3 weeks. Can't belkieve I've lost that much weight to notice yet though. Rekon it was just his way of being nice cause he could see how difficult I was finding it. I even cooked a roast pork dinner for dh and the kids. You will not believe how difficult it was not to touch the crackling. But I didnt and was very proud of myself for not having any!!!!

Yes - most Boots stock them.

You've done really well so far! 4 days gone already. Just wait until your weigh in on Thursday and you've lost all those pounds

I really appriciate all of your help and advice soapbox. I think I'm getting used to the water as well. I've just necked a 750ml bottle and feel totally stuffed.

Whoops your doing better than me on teh water front - you've jsut reminded me to get drinking!

The good news is that you will find you need to go to the loo less once your bladder gets used to all the water.

I like to imagine that my stomach has shrunk and all the available space is now taken over by my capacious bladder

And the spots, THey never told me about that. I suppose clearing your system out with all the water is also clearing your skin but my God have I come out in loads. It's like a dot to dot over my face today. Thank God for Touche Eclat.

Excuse my french but f**king chemist won't sell me Ketostix because I'm on a diet. She's said if I wanted them to go to my dr and get them on prescription. I even explained that I can only do the diet I'm on with the drs consent and that she is supporting me throughout this diet. Bloody cow.

Go somewhere else - if they ask tell them you are diabetic and have to monitor your ketones and it is cheaper to buy them over the counter than pay a prescription charge!

Diabetics get free prescriptions!!! I'll give it a go though. Will pop out at lunch!!!!

You could try looking at the lipotrim website and seeing if there is a lipotrim pharmacist near you as they are likely to be more sympathetic (lipotrim is a similar diet to LL but administered by chemists).

I have never had any problems getting hold of them, apart from one boots branch who said they didn't stock them!

Hurrah! You will start to feel more in control anytime soon! Ketosis really blunts the appetite so that you don't feel hungry at all.

Do you feel better today?

Are you freezing cold - another symptom of Ketosis!

woodpops · 29/09/2004 08:44

I've been really cold all week. Suprising considering how much blubber I have to keep me warm

I'm feeling loads better thank you. I never imagined the 1st few days to be so difficult. DH thinks it's fantastic as I'm been making him huge packed lunches for work. I even grated cheese last night and didn't feel the need to pick at it. That must be the 1st time ever.

Soapbox, how many dress sizes have you dropped??

hi woodpops, could you freze the shakes into ices or lolly's? or even whip/whisk the shakes and then freeze them like an icream type dessert, maybe that would seem like you were eating something? well done so far btw.

Woodpops only just seen this!

You've done so well, you should be proud of yourself, the first week is incredibly hard but you're nearly at the end of it now. It gets soooo much easier from this point on

Yes, the being cold thing is hard isn't it but never mind, tomorrow you will be delighted at how much weight you've lost I still get cold now, have even resorted to thermals when in the office as the air con make it freezing cold.

I've dropped from a 20ish to a 14/16, but really want to get back to a size 12!

Do let me know how much you've lost!!!

Soabox thank you so much for all of your support last week. I've been meaning to get on the computer since Thurs to tell you how I've got on. THere's just not enough hours in the day. Well I did laods better than I ever imagined. 14lbs. I don't think I've stopped smiling yet. It's fab. I've also got a very wierd thing about cooking at the minute. All I want to do is cook and prepare food. The best thing of all is I'm not at all tempted to pick. I don't think dh has ever eaten so well. If I carry on at this rate he will be putting on what I loose.

Went to a wedding reception Sat night and I was quite happy with my glass of water. I think I drank 4 litres just in the evening. It's so much easier to drink your water when your chatting away.

I got 5 lemon bars this week and they're awful. I had to throw it away. THere is no way I could eat it. I'mm gonna stick to the shakes for the mo.

Good luck for this week!
