Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.
I need to lose about 10 lbs. I'm post menopausal, so it's harder to lose. I'm usually very careful but this past week, I have had days of stuffing myself - mostly full of carbs, when i follow a low carb diet.
it's depressing the hell out of me. i need to get back on the wagon tomorrow, but I'm scared I'll be defeated again
It's hard getting back on the wagon but why don't you give yourself a day or two off and use that time to clear the cupboards of carby snacks and do a big shop of all your favourite low carb foods and batch cook for the freezer all your favourite low carb meals. Successful low carbing needs good organisation as carbs are so easy to grab as snacks as they're everywhere but if you get set up properly at home with low carb snacks and meals you'll be fine.
I'm PM too but I find if I follow a sensible low carb way of eating; which means I DO eat carbs, so I'll have a couple of slices of spelt or rye toast for lunch, a homemade smoothie for breakfast, and mainly salad and or veg soup for supper but not wheat or white rice.
With the help of Paul Mac kenna's I Can Make You Thin I can control the weight gain. Oh especially now I've gone very low sugar.
