Hello Lovely People

There are 13 weeks/95 days until 2020. I for one want to greet it feeling my best! Feeling healthy happy and vibrant!

So following on from the previous monthly heathy eating & weight loss threads, here’s October’s. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or are just happy to maintain.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to Septembers Thread

Myself, I will continue to:-

  • follow a Low Carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fasting/IF
  • Calorie Counting
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Drink plenty of Water
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Come on ladies, let’s be awesome 😎

I know @cheesenpickles 😲. I’m hoping for a better month stress wise.

I am really looking forward to 2020. I love a brand new year (same with weeks/months) and a new start. By then I’d like to be near goal of 9 1/2 stone but won’t beat myself up if I’m not there by New Year.

Hi everyone ! Can I join? Was watching the last thread and everyone did so well.

I’ve put ALOT of weight on over the last few years. Mostly due to depression, baby etc and want to get back to my best.

Been on SlimFast 3:2:1 for the last 5 weeks and lost just over a stone. It’s slowed now to (hopefully) 1-2 lbs a week as it should.

Drinking lots of water
No booze
Cardio, crunches and weights 3x a week
Also taking fish oil as it’s meant to be good for fat burning (and MH)
My weigh day is Tuesday

DP is doing stoptober and trying to eat a bit healthier this month so hopefully that will help. Watching him heat naughty food last month was torture!

Good luck everyone

I’ll join if that’s ok! I’m doing 16:8 IF and I’ve found good support so far on mumsnet. I’ve found that support gives me a boost!

I’ve only been IF for a week but I’m finding it successfully so far.

I’m in Australia and we have the kids home for two weeks school holidays starting this weekend so I’m sure I’ll be busting up fights in no time!

Just checking in. Will continue with IF and following 80/20 when eating. Still doing yoga pretty much every day. 10kg down, will see where I end up. BMI now 24.6 Smile

Thanks for starting a new thread @BustedDreams

@Awittyusernameishardtofind welcome my friend. It’s great you have a plan worked out. Good planning is key.

@DownUdderer Everyone is welcome. These threads are lovely places to share anything. Sounds like you’ll have your hands full the next couple of weeks. waves from the uk

@MrsJonesAndMe Hello lovely. Well done on your 24.6 BMI! Great result.

Today for a change from a roast dinner we are having steak with mushroom pepper sauce (made with fresh cream), green beans and side salad. Really looking forward to it. Not had alcohol since August. Intend to continue through October too. I make a jug of lemon water each day and have that in a nice glass. Have white tea and 1 coffee with cream. Last meal will be a light supper of olives, cheese, chopped peppers, celery & chopped apple. Might have a couple of oat crackers with it.

Hello all
I will be continuing to try and just eat ‘better’.

Main thing on my list is to address how disordered my eating has become over the last year so I may not actually end up losing much weight but I still like the accountability of posting!

I’ve had a mixed couple of days as I’ve been on nights and not really been too careful. I have a lovely healthy meal plan for my next set.

I’ve been really down on exercise lately though - not ridden as much as usual and weather/lack of time means I havn’t been running but intend to address that now.

I'm sure you've been on your feet for the whole shift @Foreverlexicon meaning you may not have had lots of formal exercise, but you'll have got lots of steps in. Well done for planning for the next set.

Thanks @BustedDreams. Hope the steak was lovely! Ham and lots of different salad things here (crusty bread for DH drool)

Checking in for October, before I check in for my month away. My aim for October is to remain at 9st 12lbs, which is my goal weight. Only achieved a few days ago so had no time to start maintaining and think I will be very lucky to stay under 10 stone, but will give it a go.

Thank you for starting the new thread @BustedDreams and I hope everyone has a fantastic October.

Thanks for the welcome! I took the girls into town today and took them to a cafe and I caved in and got myself a passion fruit slice. Thankfully I had a banana with me to break my fast and I had that and half of my slice. I’ve brought the other half home and I’ll eat it tomorrow! I usually have one small treat a day after lunch so I’ve just swapped around today. So I’m feeling ok with being flexible but I was surprised at how little will power I had!

I was a pound down this morning. I weigh every day as I just gotta know how I’m doing. I started at 12st 4 and I’m seeing a downward trend which I’m pleased with. I’m 38 yrs old.

Can I join in?

I'm heavier than I've ever been in my life (14st 10lb at 5ft 9) and I want to lose 4 stone asap. I'm going on the trip of a lifetime in January (a month in the Far East) and I really want to be a lot lighter by then. I've joined MFP and have been counting calories, aiming for 1200 or less.

I work in healthcare and am on nights until the end of October. I'm finding it hard to work out what to eat and when. Any ideas/tips wecome.

I will be weighing in every Monday...wish me luck!

Morning all. My month end weight is 163.4 which I think is 1lb down for the month. It’s still 2lb higher than mid August but it’s the lowest I’ve been all September so I’ll take it.

I’m on my rest days and I’m going to go for a quick run in a minute then a long ride on the horse.

The new but now not so new (thinking of initiating the What is this? Talk tonight as it’s been 2 months now 😦) love interest is over tonight and I’m cooking Coq Au Vin and blackberry pie. The main is a hairy dieters recipe and it’s delicious - highly recommend!

@FavouriteSong

I’m a shift worker and I do find days I move onto nights quite tricky.
Personally I tend to flip my day round - I don’t like to eat as soon as I get up in the afternoon plus the nature of my job means we don’t really get official breaks and if it’s too busy I won’t get the chance to eat so I eat a proper meal, dinner style meal at about 8pm before I go in.

I then take something for lunch at work like leftovers or a salad or sandwich. I then have something small like a bagel thin or cereal when I get in as I’m usually hungry but I go to sleep straight after so I don’t see the point in anything proper. I’m

@Foreverlexicon
Thankyou for answering! On a day shift I will have porridge with stewed fruit for breakfast, a thins sandwich made with low fat processed cheese, wafer thin ham and tomatoes, with a packet of lentil curls and a piece of fruit. I'll take a low calorie cereal bar and a boiled egg as snacks. When I get home I'll have a 400 calorie meal, usually a chilli/pasta/chicken recipe from Slimming World cookbooks.

So on nights, you'd suggest having the big meal in the evening before work, and have the sandwich and snacks overnight, then porridge before bed in the morning I shall try that.

I am determined to shift this flab!

I go walking, swimming and cycling so my fitness levels are okay.

Good morning lovelies

I’m pleased to report that the scales are down. Not at my lowest but happy enough at starting October 142 lbs (or lower). Home made vegetable soup for lunch and chicken, veg & salad later. Plenty of water, 1 coffee with cream, white tea.

@fallfallfall that’s great news and motivation. May I ask do you need a contract to run an Apple Watch or does it work via your phone contract?

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa hope you had a great time and welcome home.

@FiveShelties I hope it doesn’t dampen your spirits too much! When do you arrive?

Right I’m right on it today, batch making soup and tomato base sauces. I know I’m blessed to now be retired and try to make the most of my time to make my family healthy nutritious foods. Working ladies are super hero’s in my book juggling everything!

Last day of September so I want to make it count and start October in a winning/positive frame of mind. Have a great day!

@Foreverlexicon it’s so difficult when working nights to fit everything in. I’m pleased you’re finding these threads helpful. Hope you get your ride in! I hope all went well with the ‘talk’.

@FiveShelties
I think with planning and healthy choices you can start to maintain. My weight went back up 3 or 4 lbs due to having back pain meds. They bung me up and retain water. Double whammy that doesn’t come off as it went on.

@DownUdderer Sounds like you’re on it! Being in the right head space is very important but sounds like you’re there.

@FavouriteSong
Welcome. Sounds like our starting to do the right things. Are you able to post a typical days eating. Then we can look at healthy swaps etc. Perhaps read the links in thread header, although I realise as a working lady you might be short on time. From the off increase your water intake. Try and have protein at each meal (keeps you satiated), have plenty of fibre (nuts/oats/whole meal bread if not intolerant). You don’t want to get in a place where you feel deprived or hungry as that will lead to failure. Don’t try and lose to quickly. You have 13 weeks or so until your holiday of a lifetime. At 2lbs a week loss that amounts to about 2 stone. Try to adopt a sustainable eating plan, not a diet. I hope this helps.

Can someone pick me a window for me please. This iPad is going through it! This post has taken an age to type as the screen is unresponsive. It’s only 5 months old!

Morning all. Just my final weigh in/start weight for October to report. I'm down to 70.8kg this morning. In old money that means I've lost 12 1/2lbs in August and 10lbs in September. Very pleased. This week has lots of stress involved so I will need to stay in control. On the plus side I'm walking 4 miles today, 4 tomorrow and again on Wednesday.

Best of luck to you all, especially the shift workers, must be extra hard for you all.

Well done @busteddreams, at last your hard work is showing on the scales.

Hi all, I almost missed this thread!

I'm a bit disappointed that I am not below 60kg starting October as I had kinda hoped (or even below 61 tbh :( ), but I've not gained more and have started to try and get moving a bit with walking at least. I'm in a team walking/step count challenge thing that starts this week, so I'd better get going!

@BustedDreams I sometimes think wistfully about all the stuff I will do when I'm retired, but I'd better not wish my life away yet Grin Probably about 20 years to go....

Hi everyone - I was on the July thread (I think) then went on holiday..... I joined weightwatchers the week before last as I’m heavier than ever and not happy about it! Did very well week 1, this week it’s all gone to hell and I’m not looking forward to weigh in on Wednesday.

You were all really supportive back at the beginning of the summer so I’m happy to be back Smile

@SunshineCake passe tabs & water hope the headache doesn’t linger.

Hi @galvantula that’s a win in my book. I’m up a bit over the month but I know why. Tablets etc. Plays havoc with water levels and going to loo.

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt I had wondered where you were... welcome back!

My final post of September. Hope to see you all on October’s thread :)
