Desperately need to lose this weight. I can't use the excuse of I've just had a baby because DS will 5 in November!! 4 years ago I only needed to lose 1.5 stone, now it's 2.5. Would like to do something along the lines of low fat/low calorie diet, with exercise 3 or 4 times per week, but really do need a bit of support, as I tend to weaken very easily....

Would anyone like to join me, with a weekly weigh-in, day to day support etc?

Count me in too (if thats ok). Am at the end of my tether and know I have a big problem. My eating habits disgust me, I snack all day long, I am so unhealthy, and due to this my skin is awful. So here goes as of Monday its fruit, exercise and plenty of water. Thanks for the kick start Thunderpants and good luck everybody. X

Me.

I've got more than 2.5 to lose, but it would be good to have the company.

What kind of exercise are you thinking?

got a nearly 3 year old, a 6 month old and a husband who works late, so my exercise is going to be mainly pram-pushing.

i used to love a bit of circuit training and rowing and running. but them days are gone, sadly.

What does everyone suggest then? What diet should I follow, or should I just make that extra effort to eat healthily. Have tried WW before, so have everything I need apart from willpower to follow that at home, or should I just try to count calories. (I have no idea how many calories I should be eating a day - how bad is that!?) X
Thunderpants - You got us into this, are you still around?

Id like to join in, dd2 is almost 2 now and though i started at 13.8 and am now about 11.4 i would really really like to get to about 10 stone and be a comfy size 12!

I pledge here to not eat any crap from Monday! Lets hope i can reach my goal by my birthday in december that would be fab!

We've also got a trampoline, i was thinking of doing 30mins a day on it as i have such a hectic day and dont really get to walk that much because im a childminder and currently looking after 4-5 children a day and making them all walk with me is not a good idea, i walked to the park and back yesterday, had to push a double pushchair and the older ones were moaning (which did not inspire me to do it more often)

If any of you see me posting will you ask me if ive been on the trampoline please?

Fimble - Do what works best for you, I know i'm better at just cutting out the crap and snacking on cereal and eating proper meals.

Think daily calories are about 1,200 for a woman but dont know for deffo??

Top tip is to drink loads and loads as they say sometimes you think you are hungry when infact its that you are thirsty!

I'm going food shopping today so will tr to buy lots of healthy stuff, anyone got any ideas of stuff to buy and meal ideas?

I have 1 meal idea but we had it yesterday, it was shepherds pie but i blended the veg and mixed it in with the mince and gravy as my mindee and my dp won't eat their veg, its a god way to eat them but not notice iyswim.

LMG. I'm going to calorie count and also try to limit starchy carbs (bread, cereal etc) to breakfast only. I find eating less carbs make me less hungry but couldn't/shouldn't go down the totally no carbs route, a la Atkins.

So.

I'll be having porridge or cereal for brekky, with soya milk for me as I must make myself like the stuff as it supposedly helps to lower cholestral (sp?)
which is an issue for me.
Also some fruit for breakfast

Lunch - loads of vegge soup (without beans or lentils ie. carbs)

  • fruit

Dinner - Chicken or fish in some grilled or steamed way with a big salad or lots of steamed/boiled veg (but no potatoes )

    Fruit

Snacks - a two - finger kitkat daily

Also lots of water and the odd diet Pepsi, but not too much as fizzy drinks can (apparently) deplete bone mass leading to osteoporosis.

And I'm going to give up wine Boo hoo. until I've shifted this weight, as I am not able to enjoy just a glass and usually finish the bottle.

Report
LoveMyGirls · 11/08/2007 08:35

Bubble you can get boxes of wine which hold 4 bottles but they are sealed so that they stay fresh for ages and ages so you can just have 1 spritzer a night or something. Not that im encouraging you to drink! Maybe you cou ld have 1 glass instead of the kit kat?

I need to join too. Todat weigh 10st10lb. Haven't weighed this much since I was pregnant. I'm 5ft 6 and am looking all saggy and some of my size 14 trousers are too tight . Would love to get down to 10st to start with. Wine big problem here to. Find it really hard to cut out all togther so might have to hit the gin!

LMG.

If I have one KitKat I won't go into a chocoalte frenzy and eat the whole packet.

BUT. If I have one glass of wine I will want to drink more. So I'm best to cut it out completely. I wish I was the sort of person who could 'take or leave' alcohol. But I have wild Celtic genes which urge me to drink the stuff with abandon.

Bubble99 · 11/08/2007 08:46

LJ. I prefer alcohol for the effect rather than the taste, IYSWIM. So gin would be a no-no for me too.

I am truly of people who can stop at a couple of drinks. I always end up having too much (luckily, Mr Bubble is virtually tee total.)

So. Are we going to have a weigh-in on Sunday night?

It would be useful to work out some kind of code to CAT to each other - so that anyone who doesn't want to broadcast their lardiness on the www can post their weight in coded form, IYSWIM.

Personally, I need the public humiliation to spur me on so I will post my weight freely.
