What to be replace bread with?

As the title really. We only eat home made bread when at home and I don’t often eat bread when out and about. But I’d like to see what will happen if I cut it out entirely. What did you replace bread with to hold fillings? I often eat alternatives such as salads, soups and grains, but am interested to learn about other tried and tested option.

Nothing, really- there’s no acceptable substitute.

I have cheese with sliced apple, make ham and cheese rollitos (wedge of cheese wrapped with ham), peanut butter and apples, you can use big lettuce leaves for burgers, Mexican fillings like fajita and taco fillings, and stuff like larb Gai.
When I’m out, I’ll grab a salad or sushi, rather than a sandwich .

Frankly I’ve found best thing to do, to be to just forget eating sandwiches etc entirely. All of the above are a poor substitute for thick white bread with good butter.

If you make your own bread anyway, you could look into keto “bread”. I’ve never made it so I have no idea what it’s like but plenty of recipes available online.

@TheSheepofWallSt you’re right there is no substitute. I’m just trying to cut out processed food and bread is the most acceptable to me rather than pasta (not that I eat a lot of it).

@Captainladder I’ll look up the keto bread; never heard of it and see if I can twist my husbands arm into making it.

Maybe try mini tortilla wraps or corn tacos, both relatively low in calories for how filling they are, eg you can have three tacos for roughly the same calories as one thick piece of white bread.

One other thing I discovered was crispy lamb wrapped in lettuce leaves, Chinese style - don’t miss bread at all when I’m eating that (although the lamb probably isn’t that healthy!).

It’s so hard..I love bread so I feel your pain!

Tortilla wraps, middle eastern flatbreads, or chapattis.

I've cut out bread totally. In fact I've cut out all carbs except those found in semi skimmed milk and carrots. I've lost 12 pounds in three weeks.
But they have been a miserable three weeks Grin

I eat soft cheese and pâté on endive leaves. Not the same, but at least I get to carry on eating pâté!

I read about Cloud Bread once, never tried it though. Google it maybe? And let me know how you get on?!!

Jacobs fibre crackers and oatcakes. More to nibble on with a salad or with soups etc.
