How are you planning on doing it?!

Mainly just healthy eating and trying to exercise more I think. I had to stick to a low fat diet, where I wasn't allowed to eat anything with more than 5% fat in it, when I was waiting to have my gallbladder taken out and lost a lot of weight then. Whilst I don't want to go that extreme I'm aiming to stick to that sort of diet, as I've piled loads of weight back on since going back to my old bad habits, which is so frustrating. So lots of chicken and fish, fruit and veg etc. But it's so hard sticking to it, I think with other people to chat to about it and motivate each other it will be easier xx

I am in. I want to lose 28 lb by christmas, 2 pounds a week should do it.
I always calorie count and that works for me, but then I just can't be arsed any more and it piles back on. Sad
I am also gallbladder free, but never found fat made a difference to my symptoms.

I had complications with my gallstones that caused severe acute pancreatitis, and necrosis to my pancreas, so it is now no longer fully functioning, which is why I have medication to supply replacement pancreatic enzymes to help digestion of fat and absorbtion of nutrients. Fat definitely makes a difference to me, both in terms of pain management and weight loss. I can take extra tablets to off set increased amounts of fat but obviously it's preferable for me to take lower doses, particularly if I become pregnant again, so sticking to a lower fat diet is the sensible option but is hard to stick to when I know I can get round it by taking extra tablets (which is allowed within my prescription).

How should we go about it on here, have a set day of the week that we all weigh in and say how much we have lost that week/in total? To help keep us on track? As well as providing suppport /motivation?

I'll join please, I will weigh myself tomorrow morning to find out how much I need to lose, not looking forward to that!! I've put loads of weight on due to making bad choices with food.
I've got a pasta salad for work which I'm going to half.
I already walk the dog but I need to walk her longer I think.

That sounds awful monkey I am glad I didn't have too many complications with mine and don't suffer much without the thing.

I am on medication for something different, that I have to take with food so no skipping meals or fasting for me.

Yay Grin so pleased so many people are joining in! With so much support we should all be able to help keep each other on track. I've had a shake for breakfast today, as I have some that need using up, though would usually be planning to have toast or Porridge. For lunch I've had Lentil soup (really thick so more filling than I expected) and some seed bread. Not sure what I'll be having for dinner as I'll be going to my parents this evening but hopefully it wo t be anything too unhealthy!

I might have a look at C25K. I'm not much of a runner but maybe I could adapt it to increase how much walking I do.

Shall we make Wednesday weigh in day, as a few people have said they have/will be weighing themselves today, or is there another day that everyone would prefer?

One thing I definitely need to do is increase my fruit and veg in my meals, as I don't eat nearly enough of either at the moment

Yes am also in. I normally weigh myself on a Saturday morning.
What kinda calorie per day are ppl thinking to lose 2lbs? X

There doesn't have to be a set day for weighing in if everyone prefers different days, whichever way people want to do it is cool.

I've got the My Fitness Pal app and having put in my current weight, goal weight and how much I want to lose per week, it has calculated 1200 calories a day for me to aim for. Don't know how good a guideline that is but I'm trying to stick to it. Managed so far today, but epically failed yesterday!

MFP sets 1200 cals for almost everyone as far as I can tell. Hmm
Personally I think that is too low unless you really don't have much to lose.
I will aim at 1500-1800 as I am pretty heavy and pretty active, it's worked for me in the past.

Oh really, that's interesting to know. I've never used it before so wasn't aware of that. I've managed to stay within it today and dont feel hungry but I did think it didn't seem like much, and that it was used up quickly considering what I'd eaten, so will definitely bear that in mind and adjust it up if it seems unsustainable.

1,200 is a good start for calorie control. I don't think you need any more.
I'm doing the intermittent Fasting because this helps with sugar and using up sugar and fat reserves.
Essentially its a way of lowering your calories.

Are ppl incorporating exercise?

I’ll join you, I gave birth 7 weeks ago and put on 4 stone and I was slightly overweight to start with 🙈
Need to get 5 off to get back to a healthy weight range according to doc yesterday and ideally need 6 off (mortifying I know!)

I lost 3 stone on slimming world a few years ago, I’m not going back to class but I am going to follow the plan roughly without all the faddy stuff that comes with it

Just healthy eating for the next month, half a plate of fruit/veg/salad to limit carbs naturally and curb my snacking along with 3 square meals to see how I get on. If that isn’t working too well then I’m going to be stricter next month. Also swimming once a week and plenty of walking, once I’ve got my fitness back up a bit then I’ll C25K (did this before I was pregnant too and was running 5k comfortably within 12 weeks)

Booked a holiday for February to give me a bit of a boost!

Good luck everyone!

Morning everyone.

So last night was the first night in a long time I didn't take anything to eat to bed with me,feeling quite proud of myself Grin
Going out for lunch later but I know they do salad so that's what I'm having, and I will do 2 laps of the field when walking the dog from today.

Terrible day today for me - cakes at work for someone who is leaving - thought I'd just have a small one then it all went wrong from there. This is what I often struggle with, once Ive had one unhealthy thing like that I then seem to just think oh well, I've messed up already now, might as well eat whatever crap I want today now and start again tomorrow. And I have zero willpower to resist when I'm at work and everyone's saying go on, just have one. Any tips?

I feel your pain, the ward I worked on yesterday always has things out, crisps cakes, chocolates etc so I was dreading it, but there was hardly anything thank fully.
Draw a line and start again tomorrow x

Thank you for the support. I will do that, chalk it up to a bad day and move on, "tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet" . And payday tomorrow too so will be able to restock the cupboards with some healthy but tasty alternatives to cake 😂

How is everyone doing? I still haven't phsyched myself up to weighing myself, but have been keeping to 1800 cals more or less.
The scenario of eating a slice of cake/ bag of chips or whatever and then just thinking fuck it and eating what you like the rest of the day is one I am totally familiar with. When I have lost weight it's when I have changed my thinking so I don't fall into that trap.

Going well today, we've been out and about a lot today so not had chance to think about / crave an unhealthy food, and tuna salad for dinner :-)
