Help!! Weight is spiralling

Hi all,

So this might be a bit of a long one, but I have no idea what to do.
My weight is currently spiralling out of control and I just can't seem to grasp it.

I'm a size 18 right now, gone up from a 14 in the space of about 3 months.

I've struggled with my weight for years, I've always been about a 14/16 and never been happy.

I've tried slimming world, weight watchers, a personal trainer, online coaching, simply cutting the crap and excersizing more and the lot.
I've had all sorts of tests at the Dr's, all are normal. Apart from the odd bout of anemia around that time of the month but this is easily managed.

I have no idea where to turn or what to do. I know how to lose the weight but I am seriously lacking motivation/willpower/energy.

I study full time and work part time. I've just had my exams, which I know will be why I've put all the weight on!

Please help. Any suggestions would be a huge help Sad

I'm struggling to xxx motivation is hard. For me I need to remind myself if I want kids and to be able to do my best for them I need to loose weight. I'm not so big right now but if I don't do something about it it'll become too much. You just need to start excersise and dieting, it's very hard but starting is the hardest part I think. Start reading about what you can do and try a few things. You're not the only one xxx

You say that you do know how to lose weight - but what does that mean? How do you think you're going to lose weight?

It could be time to reappraise that.

What is your diet like? How much exercise are you doing regularly?

I imagine that you are overeating as a way to manage your emotions. My grandmother told me many, many years ago that "food is not a friend", and it always stayed with me. Food I meant to be enjoyable, but when it starts to be a crutch you lean on to cope with your emotions, good or bad, you're in trouble.

You may feel you don't have control, but that just an excuse and completely untrue. You can control what you buy and what you put in your mouth. It's time to start recognising your triggers and then get busy distracting yourself with other activities. It may not be easy at first, but you can definitely do this.

OP why did you quit slimming world and weight watchers or stop seeing your personal trainer? Consistency is absolutely key. Why not go back to slimming world and go every week, stay for image therapy, even on the weeks you gain weight, just don't give up or give in!

Thanks all. I honestly feel like I need some tough love.
I quit for the same reason I always do, I started failing (not losing what I wanted/not sticking to plans 100%) and I didn't want them to see 'that' side of me, so I made excuses.

I am absolutely overeating. Takeaways several times a week, to the point where I'm genuinely embarrassed to order from certain places due to the number of times they've been to our house in the past month 😭

It feels like I'm triggered by EVERYTHING atm. Which I know isn't true, I should really sit down and think/make a list of my actual triggers.

I have some pretty serious MH issues stemming from childhood so food has been a crutch to me in a lot of ways.

Time to ditch the crutches and learn to walk again, I think!

Hugs. It's really tough, but maybe you need to get some outside help again. If you can afford a personal trainer I would suggest that - find a sympathetic one and be very up front with your difficulties.
