Slimfast / Fast 800

ISmellBabies · 06/08/2019 11:03

Just doing a thread to keep me accountable. Anyone's welcome to join though. I'm combining slimfast and fast 800. I'd love to meet my goal for xmas but realistically 2lb a week would mean end Jan/beginning of Feb.
Starting weight 12st8.
Currently 12st, bmi 33.
Goal 8st7 (or anything bmi under 25 tbh).

Oh, if there are any slimfasters reading this, if you haven't tried the cafe latte, mint chocolate or cookies and cream flavours, you must, they are delicious. Grateful to hear of any nice flavours anyone else has tried.

Come and join us on our fast800 and BSD thread. I have heard of people using slimfast, but I don't know if any on here are currently doing so.

I have just read the Fast800 book and was thinking of combining this with Slim Fast. My goal weight is the same as yours but sadly my start weight will be higher. Are you having a shake for breakfast and lunch and then a meal in the evening (800 calories for the day)? That was what I was thinking of trying so would love to know how you are finding it.

ISmellBabies How are you getting on? As we have similar start and goal weights we might be able to support each other and it would be good to know how you're finding it.

Hi Gemi, that'd be great!
Getting on pretty well, I was 11st 13.4 this morning. I was just having 4 slimfasts a day (about 9am, 12, 3, and 6pm-ish). I missed food a little bit but need something super convenient and completely idiot-proof on the Calories so yesterday I experimented with swapping out a slimfast for a pack of fridge raiders 90g chicken (199 Cals). I will eat some proper food eventually, once I settle in to the 800 Cals, I just want to leave absolutely no room for error or temptation so this is how I'm working it just for now.
What's your starting weight?
I need a weigh in day. I'll make it Saturday and update tomorrow.

Oh no hon12! Were you overweight to start with? How long did you do it, and did you do it strictly? It seems to be working for me but I'm obese to start with and am being very strict with it. 11st12.6 this morning, so that's 2lb so far this week with 2 days to go, last week I lost 4lb.

Hi

Well done, you sound like you're doing really well. My start weight is 13st 11lbs :( :( :( so I have a lot to lose.

My weight in day is going to be Saturday as that works best for me but that does mean that my first week will be a sort of a short week as I couldn't start yesterday - I need to go out and get some shakes today and get sorted and then start properly tomorrow.

I think I am planning to do a shake for breakfast and lunch and then a low carb meal in the evening, a total of 800 calories. I need to see results quick to keep me motivated, especially as I have a lot to lose so I really hope it works.

The other thread is so established, can I join in here? Going to do Fast 800 using exante shakes.

Hi Kato, yes of course! What's your starting weight and your goal? Are you doing all shakes or a 2 shakes and a meal?
Gemi you can smash that - your summer body next year is gonna be so smokin'!
Monday weigh in for me: 11st11 so 3lb down this week. Very happy with that. I'm finding it fairly easy, there's no room for error really, all I have to do is keep going.

Thanks - you are doing really well! I debated starting next week rather than this week and my job is the biggest reason I fail at diets (very stressful and very full on so very little time and I tend to fall back on eating rubbish) and I am on leave next week so I thought that would be a good opportunity to really focus on it and have a good start and get into a routine. On the other hand, I want to start ASAP but this week is a particularly stressful one.

I have just booked a holiday which is in May next year and for once I would love to feel and look good on holiday so I really hope I can do it this time. I really struggle to stay motivated and just give up, wish I could feel more confident I can actually do this!

Thank you! I feel really different too, dh and mil both have said how much slimmer I look already. I have lost 3 inches from my waist! Still a lot of inches to go though. But I'm so committed this time. Sounds like next week would be a great time for you to start. Week 1 is always hard because you're hungry a lot and not used to it, so it'd be quite a punishment to time that with a stressful work week!

You sound so motivated, well done! I really struggle to stay committed and I don't know why! In the past I have lost a lot of weight and that was because I was just so focused and never wavered but even though I'm bigger than ever I can't seem to get back in that headspace. I think I am going to start properly on Saturday (yesterday was a bit of a disaster due to a very bad day work wise!) so I'm going to make sure I have everything in ready to start and then start from Saturday. I have an event I have to go to exactly 14 weeks from Saturday and I am dreading it as there will be people there I haven't seen since I was much smaller - do you think I could lose a reasonable amount in that time?

Are you still doing mainly shakes or proper food too? I tried exante shakes before and they made me feel so sick I couldn't carry on so hope that doesn't happen this time! I also thought I could make some of my own smoothies from frozen fruit etc sometimes for a bit of variety.

I have sometimes swapped a shake for food, like half a banana sandwich, or a tinsy bowl of cereal and a cup of tea, but I feel most comfortable just sticking to the shakes tbh. I love the cafe latte one anyway and it just means I don't have to think about food, I don't have to look at it, decide what to have, prepare it, judge portions or any of that. I grab a shake, that's it - no temptation, nothing to potentially go wrong!
I think the motivation will come when you've slogged through the first week and got some results, that's what keeps me going! Take measurements and before photos, you'll inspire the crap out of people when you're done!
You can make a massive difference in 14 weeks, huge!! Worst case scenario, say you lose 2lb a week, that's 2 stone! Best case scenario, say 4lb a week that's 4 stone. I'm losing 3.5lb a week so 4 is not unrealistic if you're strict. And you can boost the visual effect of the fat loss by doing some exercise and toning up so you look super amazing! I'm excited on your behalf for how fab you'll look and feel. Smile

I’m doing this too, without the fast800.

A shake and a bar a day then a normal dinner.
Calorie counting made me obsessed with food whereas doing this keeps me sane!

I’m not counting calories for dinner and I also have a piece of fruit after work because I have to go ride the horse after work so often don’t eat dinner until 8/8.30 and I just can’t go that long.

I’m on day 4, lost 2lb so far!

ISmellBabies thank you so much - you've really cheered me up, what a lovely motivating post! I've been feeling really down about the fact I've let myself get this big in the first place and also feel bad that I had intended to start this week but am now putting it off but I really want to do this and I really want to start properly and positively. Even though I'm generally not a coffee fan I like the Café Latte ones too - I find them less sickly than the others. I may alternate between shakes all day and shakes for two meals plus proper food in the evening.

I am a member of a gym and haven't been for a little while but hoping to get back into it.

I’ve had a crazy weekend and haven’t stuck to it at all but weighed Saturday night and was down 4.5lb from start. Back to it today.

I’m not going to fuss too much about weekends/socialising as long as I stick to it during the week as I think I’ll still lose plenty that way.

Cool, whatever it takes to keep going over the next few months. That gives you the option of something to switch up if you want quicker progress at any point, good idea. I'm just maxing the fuck out from the get go! Still 11st8 this morning. Ideally, I'd love to lose as close to 1 stone a month as possible, get it all of asap. I've lost this much before and it took me a year. I cannot be arsed to be on a diet for a whole year again!

Well I am a complete failure. I was so ready to get started but then hadn't really considered that it was my Dad's birthday at the weekend and as result of various family things I basically didn't stick to it at all. Yesterday I started the day with a café latte shake and then felt so sick all day that I haven't been able to face a shake since. I'm not sure if it was the shake (although I only started feeling sick when I had it and couldn't finish it) - I do find some of them, particularly vanilla, quite sickly but in the past the café latte one was the least sickly.

I really don't know what to do, like you ISmellBabies the reason I wanted to follow this approach is because I want to lose as much as I can as quickly as I can and it also needs to be super convenient with little prep to fit around my work - but if I can't stomach the shakes I'm stuffed. Feeling really despondent and annoyed with myself. Feel so useless that I can't do this.

Well done on losing a stone! - how long has that taken you? xx

About a month.
Sorry your first day went badly. The first week is hard enough to get through even when it goes well tbh, isn't it! Maybe you can substitute shakes for something else. Musclefoods (online) do frozen ready meals, some of them are not much more than 200calories each. You're not a failure at all, your weight and your diet don't define you, that's not who you are, you're an amazing person with a hard job, a social life and family and friends who love you. You're a huge success, with or without a bit of extra chunk!
