hey everyone - i'm new here, so hello :)

i just don't know where to start with weight loss. i desperately need to lose weight, but i just can't get myself motivated. i've always been big, but since i had my little girl i've just got bigger and bigger.

has anything worked for anyone who has a lot of weight to lose like i do?

thanks,

There are loads of different things you can try to lose weight and different methods work for different people.
I use myfitnesspal, a free app that gives you a calorie target and let's you track your food. I've lost 20lb so far. Also try and be more active if you are not already. This can just be things like driving less and walking more.
In terms of motivation, try and come up with some positive reasons why you want to lose weight. E.g. to set a healthy example for your little girl, you have the energy to run around and play with her.

Good luck!

There's quite a group of people on the 100lbs to lose threads who are either on their way to losing a lot, or are already near their goal. It's a bit quiet on there right now, but they really are lovely. Everyone is finding the path that works for them, but many are using my fitness pal and some form of fitness step tracker. I'm an online slimming world-er, which suits me because no going to groups, and a plan I can imagine following forever because I don't have to weigh my pasta Grin I'm about 70lbs / 5 stone through so far, probably about two more to go.

Good luck, try to take it one day at a time, and don't beat yourself up if things go astray, just try and start again right away (rather than writing off the whole day).

Hi everyone :)

Thanks for the advice, i really appreciate it. Sorry about the pretty random post, i'd had a few G&Ts and was having a bit of a moment! lol

My little girl is definitely my motivation, and I wanna be the best mum I can be for her. I have always been big, but since i've had her I just feel like it's got out of control. I'm about 27 stone at the moment, and I'm only 23, so I know I can't go on the way I am and something has to change.

Lots of different way to go. I think it’s helpful to just spend the week keeping a food diary without dieting - just eat what usually would and become aware of what you’re actually eating and then you can identify what changes you need to make.

I have always found calorie counting the easiest to stick to

Make a meal plan at the start of the week, don't buy any food shopping which doesn't fit within the meal plan

You will feel hungry sometimes but have to accept this is part of losing weight

Good luck OP, getting the motivation to start is always the hardest
