Dinner Help!

I've got to lose a fair bit of weight in 6 months - due to a planned surgery. So far I'm doing ok but I really struggle with dinners!

I'm about to go to tescos- can someone please inspire me with some healthy semi easy to cook meals please?

Thanks in advance Grin

I love fajitas, I swap the tortilla wrap with a Lettuce leaf and apply salsa, sour cream and cheese generously! I'm low carbing though, so might not be best for you to do that depending on if you are following a specific plan Grin

You could still stick to the meals you enjoy but make some swaps? Bolognese with Courgetti spaghetti, switch rice for cauliflower rice or brown rice, switch potatoes for sweet potatoes or celeriac (celeriac makes delicious chips)

Hope you make something delicious 😁

Thank you for replying! Yes making swaps in an idea I didn't think of actually.

I'm fine during the day but really struggling with healthy dinners. I'm trying to keep under 1000 calories a day.
P.s also having the same struggle again tonight Grin

Hey hun I found it really helpful with changing my portion sizes for breakfast lunch and dinner (changing the size of the plate you have helps too, as it makes you think the plate is more full) and having a few more small snacks during the day, I found it hard to make healthy meals for dinner at first as I am quite fussy so I used slimming World meals to start off with which worked and I lost . but these can become quite boring after a while and that's when I started swapping things I liked for healthier things, for example instead of spaghetti with my bolognase I would have courgetti with it. There are loads of healthier swaps you can fine online, I cut out bread completely and ate a lot of fruit as snacks. Its been 7 months and I've lost over 3 stone. I had to have my gallbladder removed and my surgeon at preop wouldn't stop focusing on my weight and suggested I lost weight to make it easier on my body, but it wasn't essential as such. What type of surgery are you having?
Good luck

Substitute beef mince for turkey mince in things like chilli or bolognese. Or make veggie versions of each, bean chilli and lentil bolognese for example. Serve every meal with heaps of spinach/veg and switch to brown rice and courgetti as pps said. Weigh things like rice, 60g dry rice is a good sized portion and swap cheese for reduced fat, keeping portion size to 30g. Use 0% fat yoghurt in place of sour cream.

I'm not trying to lose weight but my swiftest and healthiest after work meal is a stir fry. Start with oil or fry light, add a couple of large handfuls of chopped onions (I use frozen), chopped mushrooms, some form of protein (I generally use defrosted prawns) and something green (spinach or broccoli). Sometimes I add chopped hard boiled egg at the end (I boil six eggs at a time on a Sunday evening). Season - soy sauce, pepper, garlic powder, Jamaican seasoning, anything really. I reckon it's 15 minutes from turning on the hob to the table.
