Aiming to lose a stone in next 8 weeks. Previous posters commented I’m eating too much (two main meals and also too much sugar) so been working on cutting it down.

Today I’ve had:

B: two cups of tea with cashew nut milk, two satsumas

L: small portion brown rice, lots of broccoli and green beans, 1 chicken breast

D: 1 piece of toast with dairy free butter spread

Snack: 1 cup black coffee, 1 digestive Blush

Surely that's not enough to keep anyone going for a whole day...

You do not need to be that restrictive OP, I commented on your last thread and said I'd lost a stone in 6 weeks eating far more than that. Don't cut down on fruit unless you eat actual shit loads. Berries, apples, pears, pineapple, melon and all citrus fruits are fine.

Not seen your previous thread but i'd say that's not enough to lose and maintain. Are you exercising as well?

It's incredibly dull. I would last one day eating like that then binge the next day.

I ate half a leaf and feel bloated !

@champagneplanet do you think I need to eat less?

You need more protein.

@Myusernameismud that’s really helpful- just feeling so confused as got so much critique on eating too much sugar and eating too much generally so thought I’d try and cut back a bit!

And for goodness sake, you don't need to restrict yourself to one main meal. Today I've eaten:

Breakfast: small pot of Greek yoghurt, banana and handful of blueberries

Lunch: 2 poached eggs, I small slice of granary toast (with actual butter Shock) sliced tomatoes and a load of spinach

Dinner: homemade beef koftas with a tomato and chilli relish/sauce thingy, few tablespoons of rice, cucumber and mint salad.

I've drunk a lot of tea with semi skimmed milk, a couple of apricots and a peach in between meals, and I'm just about to eat a mini Mars bar!

I've seen a couple of your previous threads and would urge you to stop posting - a lot of people have their own issues around food and they won't be helpful to you. For what it's worth, I've eaten more than that in a day and been diagnosed with anorexia. It's a slippery slope.

I’m dairy free so can’t have real butter 😢!

@mynameiscalypso thank you- I will heed the warning and be more sensible. I do have a history of ED’s (but not for 10 years). I hope you are much better and in recovery 💛

Op that sounds depressing. I low carb and have dropped nearly 2 stone since mid March. Here's yesterday's food:

B: two tablespoons of full fat Greek yoghurt. Sprinkle of toasted nuts, coconut and a couple of raspberries

Lunch: one egg omelette with spring onion, ham, tomato and cheese on leaves. Mayo

Snack: small tub Philadelphia. 2 celery sticks

Dinner: small steak, broccoli, sprouts, truffle butter.

At no point was I hungry.

Thank you, I'm technically in recovery at the moment but only because I'm 7 months pregnant! With your history, is it worth seeing a nutritionist or dietician? They may help you come up with a plan that's sensible and achievable. Even after many years, these things can sneak up on us (I use the term remission rather than recovery because I'm not sure it ever fully goes away) and I know well how it's all too easy to think you're in control and then realise it's got you again. Wishing you the very best of luck Thanks

I subscribe to a magazine called healthy food guide. They also have a website. They have loads of healthy calorie counted recipes (breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks) as well as meal plans. I’d definitely recommend having a look. If I remember correctly the meal plans are around 1400 kcals a day, and have at least 5 fruit and veg portions.

Congratulations @mynameiscalypso- that is lovely news and such a great reason to be eating well and healthily 😊.

That is a good idea- I may see if I can find a dietician/nutritionist privately and just be a bit more careful. I know I need to lose weight (actual weight not imaginary) but agree with your remission point and the need to be careful- I could feel old habits slipping back a bit so I’m really grateful you called me out Flowers.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and welcoming your lovely little one!

I highly recommend Beachbody's portion fix tubs.

Coloured tubs for each food group. You get a set amount of tubs everyday, according to your calorie intake (which you work out in the beginning)

Takes all the stress out for me. No measuring or weighing. It's just 'if it fits in the pot, you can have it'.

I have a calorie intake of about 1,600. That consists of 3 cups of veg, 2 cups of fruit, 4 tubs of protein, 2 tubs of carbs, 1 of healthy fats, 1 of seeds and dressings, 2 tbsp of oils or butter and 10 glasses of water a day.

You don't have to eat them all but that's the max I can have. It's very filling and I've been doing fabulously on it.

Report
champagneplanet · 13/06/2019 21:09

@Summerflab No that's not what I mean at all. You need more, it's not sustainable to eat like that so as soon as you eat 'normally' again you would undo your hard work.

I'm trying to lose a stone at the moment myself and am loading up on fruit and veg, drinking lots of water and going easy on the carbs. It's early days yet but I can see how when I don't monitor myself it gets so easily out of hand.

@summerflab yep, like I said I've lost a stone already. I try not to weigh myself every day, but I've lost 2lb this week since Sunday. I'm well on track to lose 2 stone by the summer holidays. I have a lot to lose, I was very ill last year and put on a lot of weight due to various medications (mostly Prednisolone) so I'm aiming for 5 stone in a year. If I stay focused I'll do that easily.

All very helpful- consensus here is eat larger volumes of healthy food. I’m going to ignore previous thread and do that! Yesterday’s thread just made me so anxious about hidden calories and over eating that I didn’t really want to eat today!

@Summerflab you can definitely have more. Say if you like salad you could have a giant plate of salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions, radish, grated carrot... then add a chicken breast and a bit of dressing and it's still really low cal

Things like beef stew or chicken casserole - I bulk out with carrots, mushrooms, onions and then also have a bag of steam veg with it

So adding more food without adding a load of calories if that makes sense?

If you want something sweet then try
10 cal jelly and strawberries
Mini meringues
Flumps!
Freddo chocolate
