Sorry for the self indulgent thread but I've finally had enough.

This time next year I'll turn 40 and I don't want to be fat and 40!!

This time next year I want to be a healthy BMI and a clothes size that I feel comfortable in.

Anyone want to join me?

Go for it! I will be 50 next year and I would like to lose 5 kilos and I don't know if I can do it! I feel dumpy right now. I know at my age I should be ''forgiving'' myself for not being slim but I still want to be. I could lose 10 kilos but I will say 5.

I know what to do, I have lost weight before. I just need to DO it.

Hi I started 3 weeks ago. My starting weight was just over 13 stone so a good 2.5 stone overweight for my 5'9" frame. My goal weight is 10st which I think is realistic as I was 9st 4 years ago.

The weight crept on in the last 2 years and I buried my head in the sand. I knew I had put some on but when I bit the bullet the shock of the scale reading was Shock.

There and then I decided enough is enough. I downloaded MFP and have reduced my calorie intake. I've cut down on the 'fizz' which is the main culprit.

Today week 3 I'm down 8lb so a good start. Only 36lb to go....

You can do this, we all can as long as your in the right mindset. What plan have you got?

I started today so I would love to join you.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I am almost too embarrassed to enter my "stats"..... I'm 5ft 1in and weighed 13st 7lbs this morning.

I managed to get from 13st 13lb to 12st 6lb with slimming world and then lost the plot again.

I have always had weight issues and successfully lost 3st in 2006. I gained a bit back but I was a weeny 8st 7lb at my booking appt with DC1 in 2012.

Now my goal weight is what I was at my heaviest pre kids Shock Blush

I weighed 11st 2lb the day after I delivered DC3....who the feck gains 2+ stone after having a baby?

For transparency, I was diagnosed with arthritis last year and the combo of steroids and being unable to walk properly for 6 months meant the weight piled on, but I made (make) poor choices and I'm a comfort / emotional eater.

Don't beat yourself up @Crunchymum! We're all hear for the same reason even if it's differing amounts to lose. Use your thread as a support and motivation network.

So this is where you are today what's your plan?

@Crunchymum what is your plan? I'm doing 16:8.

Report
Crunchymum · 03/06/2019 15:20

The plan is MFP (1300 cals a day) plus I'll aim for 10k steps a day.

I want to be dry (I love wine) and stop all the sweet crap.

I did low GI when I lost weight several years ago. Worked quite well for me.

I have a big holiday next year and desperate to lose weight. I’ve already been at it for 2 weeks and I have shrunk quite a bit. However I decided I wasn’t going to weigh myself And now I am a bit disappointed as I know I have lost several pounds.
I’ve got no idea of how much I need to lose either as I don’t know what I weigh! Doh. Prob a few stone.
I’ve been using my fit bit and doing over 10000 steps a day, using the exercise bike and trying to hit 2300 calories used a day. However i haven’t been logging food as I hate it, instead i have cut all the crap - sweets, crisps, puddings, extra slices of toast. I don’t snack at all. Hoping this is enough this time.

@Ihatesundays you have just reminded me that I have a Fitbit, unloved lurking somewhere. I'm going to hunt it down.

I'm doing Low calorie using MFP and I'm consuming no more than 1200 but I treat myself a little at weekends. I've cut booze down rather than out- you could try spritzers @Crunchymum?

I don't have a particular sweet tooth but if I fancy something sweet I go for a couple of sugar/fat free sweets from Aldi- 16 calories for 2. Does it for me.

I did weigh myself and I am 80kg which might be the heaviest I’ve ever been ffs. Urgh. I need to get under 12 stone ASAP for starters!

I'm in. I also turn 40 next year and have recently committed to sorting myself out before my birthday. Have much more than 52lbs to lose but I am 1 stone down so far.

@clucky3 I don't think anyone is posting on here anymore but I will join you. I really need to sort myself out, starting from today. Stupidly I forgot to weigh myself when I had a shower but I will go do it in a bit. It's going to be roughly 2.5 stones that need to go.

5lbs off (I am going to weigh in on Saturday!)

So of course I've had a mega blow out weekend.

Must do better next weekend. Don't want to get into the pattern of undoing all the hard work at the weekends.

damn you wine and pizza

Sorry guys. I'm still here.

And I'm still looking long term.

I want to have a more consistent approach and I want it to be slow and steady. Hence the 1lb a week for a year. I want it to become my normality.

Fucked it up by over indulging this weekend. Although it was wine on Saturday as opposed to wine Friday and Saturday. And the pizza was shop bought as opposed to Dominos..... all small victories???? Grin

@clucky3

Welcome to another in the last year of her 30's.

1st down is a fantastic start. How are you doing it? Are you following a plan?

When is your big 4-0?

I'm with you....I have a lot to loose but would prefer to make lots of small changes over time than Big Bang and then fall off the wagon.

I started about 2-3 weeks ago:

SW: 19st 10lbs
CW: 18st 13lbs (-10lbs)
1st goal weight is to get the first stone done. Then to get into the 17s.

I know what my ultimate goal weight is but prefer focusing on the next couple of milestones as otherwise it seems unachievable when I've got so much to lose.

Am using the Noom diet app/plan.

Loose = lose Hmm

I'd recommend using the (free) app Happy Scale for tracking weight loss.

It breaks down what you need to lose into several milestones and then tracks progress to the next milestone (also does all the graphs etc that others do) but the focusing on the next milestone thing is helping me.

@Crunchymum I'm on the Cambridge diet. Pretty much the opposite of making small changes but I've reached the point of desperation. I have tried everything else and I just can't stick to it for long enough to lose what I need to. I managed to get a stone off in 3 weeks and it really wasn't that difficult so I'm hopeful that I can stick with it for a few months to give myself a kick start and will then go low carb I think.

I'm in a similar position to @wheresmymojo , in that I have lots to lose and know roughly where I want to get to, but I need some smaller, more achievable goals. My next goal is 17st 10lbs. Currently 19st 8lbs.

Have a good week all 💪💪💪
