Cannot find even 1% motivation to lose weight but need to

I’ve been steadily gaining for a while now and don’t even know how much exactly as not weighed but I look and feel like crap.

I’m 5’6 and a size 16 now.
The more like crap I feel the less motivation I can find to change anything

I’m waiting for probably another gynae op, I keep telling myself even after the 1st one that I would change my ways and did nothing! I’m vit D deficient (on treatment), anaemic (on treatment)

I have a sedate desk job and I eat LOADS.
I have heartburn (on tablets) and have asthma which isn’t helped by lugging my weight around

My biggest problem seems to be stress related eating and drinking. Right now I have a mega bag of sweets in my handbag and will not flinch at eating them for breakfast!

I’m out of control. How can I get control back? Any advice?

I'm out of control too. I have just under two stones to lose.

I am not very tall and I look really round. I'm depressed about it but just can't find the motivation.

I have decided to make a start today.

I weigh 10st 9lbs. I weighed myself this morning.

Do this with me?

I woke up a bit more motivated. I need to lose 2 stone too

But I just had a choc ice so I am really annoyed with myself!

I will hand hold Pookie. In fact I could have written your post! I'm 5'5" and wearing size 16s for the first time ever, can't seem to find the motivation to get out of them unless it's into a size 18 at the rate I'm going

I was all set to make a shiny new start on May 1st to lose the 2.5 stone I need to. Then the day before DTS1 came down with an ear infection sad which he is just getting over. I have three year old twins and am absolutely shattered after two weeks of not much sleep and eating crap. The McDonalds drive thru has been my saviour!

Are you trying to follow any particular plan or generally cut back a bit?

I’ve not done it before but I am trying slim fast to get me going - not long term. I know when I start to see results I am more likely to keep at it

We can all do this together right?

I haven't eaten yet today so I need to make a plan for lunch and dinner. I'm hoping that planning my meals will help.

I'm joining! My diet is fucking awful at the moment. Yesterday I only ate chocolate and crisps until dinner time. I work evenings and have also got in the habit of buying and eating a big share bag of sweets and giant bar of dairy milk every night - telling myself it's for energy. I need to sort it out.

I lost a bit at the start of the year by only eating my 3 meals per day and not eating after 6pm. But then I got some compliments and stopped bothering. Need to see it through this time. I have no idea what I weigh but will find out today and then maybe do a weekly weigh in. Anyone else up for that?

I was really out of control a couple of months ago. I have been reading stuff online about overeating/binge eating so I’m trying to stop doing that before focusing too much on the weight loss. It is all frustrating though.

Have been trying to exercise abit, weight not shifting but the size 18s I bought aren’t breathe in tight (5,4) which is nice but it’s still so uncomfortable.

I've been at slow weight loss for a while, and am just picking up steam.

What I've realised that the behaviour change is slow, and it doesn't all need to happen at once. We have this idea that we need to go to seriously restricted diets and lose 5lbs the first week or it is a failure.

I have found that small changes add up, and small changes lead to big changes. At first I added just a bit of exercise and cut alcohol out Sun-Thurs. Cutting out alcohol helps me not eat so much before bed. As I got stronger, the exercise picked up and I was able to reduce the snacks. My weight loss is slow, maybe 2 pounds a month, but it is steady and I feel like the changes are now habits.

When I tried to do all or nothing I failed. Very small changes made it possible and I am hopeful this isn't yo-you dieting so the weight can be really gone.

I weigh myself every day and can get a 2-3 lb variation each day, so I look at trends across the week.

Good plan I like it
This is why slimming world is good for the social side of it but I don’t like the diet

I hear you OP. I’m bordering on 5’7 and wearing a size 16 pretty much always - and that’s a high street vanity size 16, not one that corresponds to the standard measurements. I am far too sedentary although since I don’t have a car I move perhaps a bit more than your average petrolhead. I do Pilates but haven’t been able to for about two months because I can’t motivate myself to do it at home which is the only place to do it atm. I am stressed and low-level unhappy with stuff which affects my sleep. Sleep affects weight, esp for women. I make the decision to start a new life and stop eating sweets basically, and was so proud of myself I felt I could reward myself with ice cream. grin I have no character!

I can’t seem to do slow and steady, I am so easily demotivated and set off course, I also live in denial about what I actually consume and lie to myself

I have not tried any diets for at least a year I am not much of a yo yo dieter but I have had big weight losses twice now and very slowly regained it all so it’s more that I know I can do it, it’s that I need to focus on maintaining it and not slipping back down

You need something to look forward to. I'm size 16 as well. I've just started to cut the carbs, because I've got a BBQ with family upcoming, then another two in August, then a holiday in September with friends. Can't see all these people looking like this! shock

Another one joining if that’s okay? I’m 4.5 stone overweight - I lost 3 stone doing SW last year but then put 2.5 back on...

I don’t want to go back to SW as I think it made me obsessed with food and as soon as I stopped going I binged and put loads back on. I’m going to try making small changes - e.g jacket potato instead of chips, that sort of thing - and try and exercise a little more and see how I get on. I’m not sure how much I weigh so I’ll weigh in tomorrow morning and then I’ll know what my starting point is.

I recently bought a garden chair set and I am almost too fat on my thighs to sit on them
That made me really sad
