Weight loss plateau, aaaaargh!!

Well my gas is down to a peep. Just a few weeks ago I was going great guns, showing off on here about my weekly losses. Buying new clothes, getting excited about reaching my goals.

And now I have.... stopped. Two weeks with no loss at all despite not changing a single part of the routine that saw me lose every week up til now.

Reading about it online, this is common and I will have to cut back further to start losing again.

I'm so fucking disheartened. The weather isn't helping, I was walking miles in the sunshine and now it's just a cold downer.

Are you eating mindfully? If you look at it from a different angle (rather than calorie counting and the other 'normal' ways of losing weight) you can carry on losing. Paul Mackenna ( I Can Make You Thin) is a magic way of eating that you can continue without problems for life. Stopping and starting as you wish! Check it out, there are DVDs apps etc. I lost 3 stone with it and am keeping it off (which is the most important thing).

You can dance round the kitchen (I do 20 mins before breakfast) instead of walking outside in the sun!

The advice I’ve seen online is not to worry too much and just keep doing what you’re doing. If you managed to lose, say a pound a week before, your body won’t have become so hyper efficient overnight that you now can’t lose anything on the same number of calories. That’s just not how your body works.

If your weightloss is still stalling in a few weeks time, you could try something like 16:8. I’ve recently switched to that after being on a diet for more than 4 months and I’m amazed by how much faster the weight comes off. I’m eating the same number of calories as before, but somehow am losing more weight. Weightloss is a funny thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good luck!

I plateaued for two solid weeks after getting my lowest weight so far... I gained a kg overnight so far and stayed there solidly. I'm now slowly coming back down, over the last two days. No idea why...

I'm with you on not wanting to walk in this, either!

Weight loss is hard.

It can be be your period, or a couple of nights without much sleep. I don't weigh, just go by my clothes tightness or otherwise Grin. it saves the obsession.

Thanks all! I'm glad my body hasn't just 'reset' and now needs fewer calories. I've gone from 11 stone 6 to ten stone 3, so it isn't like a huge loss resulting in completely altering my body shape.

Also, full disclosure, there have been cheat meals. I got away with it in the early weeks but I think I'm pushing my luck now.

I'm off on a piss up tonight and meal out on Saturday so my new goal is maintenance until I can get the focus back.

BTW I've been hula hooping and weight training in my bedroom and running at the gym!

Next week I'm going to aim for two solid weeks of strict routine, no cheats.

If I still don't start shifting after two weeks, I'll have to pare things back. Thanks everyone!

I discovered another really good way of losing weight quickly. You just have your supper at 5 pm, and don't eat till 9 or 10am. I'll have a nice hot drink if I feel peckish in the evening and that's it! it's great (also helps with sleep). It's my version of the Fast Diet !

I do lots of walking, so I've installed a step tracker on my phone that shows calories too. Looking for a deficit, every single day.

Two weeks is nothing. Just keep doing what you were doing, it was working before.

Ditch the cheat meals. If you’ve lost weight, you’ll need fewer calories than when you were larger, so each cheat meal will set you back more at this stage than it did before.

Plateaus are a normal part of weight loss. What will determines if you reach your goal or not is what you do from here

Love the straight talking! Yes, you are of course right. Onwards and upwards.
