Period weight gain?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/05/2019 21:20

Hello, just wondered if anyone could help/reassure? I weighed myself randomly in the middle of the day today, and am 5lb up from when I weighed on Saturday. I usually weigh first thing on a Saturday, before eating/drinking, after using the loo. My period started on Monday - could it be that? I haven’t massively over-indulged, and have maintained the same weight for ages, so this has given me a bit of a fright! Thank you for reading if you did, and thanks in advance for any advice.

I always hold water weight either the week before or the week of my period. Weigh yourself in a weeks time and I'll bet you'll be back to your normal weight. It's crazy how much a period can make a difference on the scales!

I don't think it's weight gain but water retention. I refuse to weigh on my period. I either maintain or add 1/2lb, when I weigh the following week I've lost a few pounds (or back to my original weight if I'm not dieting).

I can easily weigh 5-6lbs heavier on the lead up to mine! And my face to me looks puffier. It's horrible! 😩😩

Yes, I definitely get water retention in the week before my period.

I can easily weigh half a stone more, feel bloated & have a puffy face.

Within a couple of days of my period starting I'm back to normal.

Thank you all so much for responding! I actually expected to be a couple of pounds up on Saturday knowing my period was due, so it was a huge shock to see 5lb up on the third day of it. Thinking about it logically, given that I usually weigh “empty”, i probably weighed eleventy-billion cups of tea, plus breakfast and lunch too?
